Play-In Games
(7) Maine East 7 (10) Resurrection 2
The Blue Demons took control of their fixture with Resurrection
early on and walked away with a 7-2 win over the Bandits on Monday
evening. East will play against Glenbrook North on Wednesday night
in the sectional quarterfinals.
(8) Niles West 14 (9) Taft 2
The Wolves claimed their first-ever postseason victory by getting
past Taft 14-2 on Monday. The victors will take on top-seeded New
Trier in Wednesday's quarterfinal round.
Wednesday, May 13
Quarterfinals
(1) New Trier 12 (8) Niles West 0
Lauren Barrett tallied 3 scores while Keelin Frank and Lauren Engelhard
combined to make 11 saves in a 12-0 shutout win over Niles West. Emma
Valdiserri and Stephanie Jodloman each scored 2 goals while Isabel
Riggio, Kaleigh Dolan, Kami Grochowski, Maria Breen and Sarah Caywood
all netted one goal in the Trevians' victory.
(5) Maine West 13 (4) Maine South 11
Emily Morrison totaled 5 goals, Kristen Burger netted 4 goals and Lilly
Jensen stopped 24 shots as Maine West held off Maine South 13-11. Annie
Pichiotti and Holly Wasicak each added 2 goals while Morrison dished out
5 assists for the winners. Kalin Bender scored 4 times, Sammy Zaug
registered 3 scores and Kamila Orzech put in 2 goals in the losing
effort.
(2) Glenbrook North 18 (7) Maine East 10
Lindsay Fraser recorded 10 goals and both Colleen Doolan and Patti Grod
scored 3 times in the Spartans' 18-10 victory over Maine East. Emily
Callahan and Lauren Sulkowski each added one goal in the win.
(3) Loyola 15 (6) Glenbrook South 7
Friday, May 15
Semifinals
(1) New Trier 14 (5) Maine West 7
Lauren Barrett registered 5 goals to help lead the Trevians past Maine
West 14-7 and into the sectional finals. Emily Morrison netted 4 goals
in the loss for the Warriors.
(3) Loyola 10 (2) Glenbrook North 9
Claire Voss and Julia Sajnaj each tallied 4 scores as Loyola outlasted
GBN 10-9 in overtime on Friday. Lindsay Fraser scored 4 times in the
loss for the Spartans.
