The Pirates face their second-straight difficult road match of the season when they play at Wheeling on Thursday night. On the other hand, the Wildcats will be seeking their second-straight home win after outdueling Maine East on Tuesday.

Oak Park 16 Waubonsie Valley 8

Mark Hallman recorded 5 goals, Nathan Pimentel added 4 scores, and both Alex Darnall and Kyle Patnode tallied 2 scores as Oak Park knocked off Waubonsie Valley 16-8 in the season-opener for both teams. Mike McWhirter scored 3 goals and Nathan Morris added 2 goals in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Conant 11 Hersey 5

Devin Schmitz scored 5 goals and Matt Engebretsen added 3 scores in Conant's 11-5 victory over Hersey. George Vladimirov tallied 5 scores in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Curie 18 Whitney Young 4

The Condors roared to their first win of the 2013 campaign, beating conference rival Whitney Young 18-4 on Thursday. In the loss, Duncan McDonald scored 2 goals and Matt Gonzales stopped 12 shots for the Seth Hughes-less Dolphins.

 

Lake View 19 Lincoln Park 18 (OT)

Greg Johnson poured in 13 goals in Lake View's 19-18 overtime victory over Lincoln Park on Thursday.

 

Palatine 15 Wheeling 6

Wally Kleinfeldt scored 5 goals and Christian Kalfas added 4 scores as Palatine jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the opening half before emerging with a 15-6 victory over Wheeling. Omar El Hoffi contributed 2 goals and 6 assists, while Alex Brons also tallied 2 goals. Peter Blackham earned the win in goal after stopping 9 shots. Lukasz Szezpaniec scored 5 goals and Noah Ihde made 12 saves in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

St Rita 7 DeLaSalle 6 (OT)

The Mustangs scored in sudden-death overtime to beat DeLaSalle 7-6 for their first Catholic League win of the young season.

 

York 21 R-B 9

Alex Waldherr scored 8 goals and Patrick McKenna added 7 scores as the Dukes rolled to a 21-9 victory over R-B on Thursday.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Bremen 10 H-F 8

Hannah Schultz scored 4 goals and Daisy Lozano notched 3 scores to lead the Red Jaguars to a narrow 10-8 win over H-F on Thursday night. Bremen built a 6-2 lead before a late rally led by the Vikings' Maddy Morris (3 goals) made things close in the end. Sarah Minnich also came up big for Bremen, producing 2 goals, 5 assists, and 7 steals in the winning effort. Meanwhile, Vikings' goalie Anna Shirer made 10 saves and Amber Barney scored 3 times in the loss for H-F.

 

Barrington 15 Elk Grove 9

Grace Buenrostro, Lisa Danhauer, and Kelly Meckert each scored 3 times and Catherine Byron added 2 goals as the Fillies downed Elk Grove 15-9 on Thursday night. Maddi Burrell also stopped 8 shots in her debut in goal for Barrington. Kathryn Noonan tallied 4 goals and Alexa Zajac added 3 scores in the losing effort for the Grenadiers.

 

Buffalo Grove 3 Schaumburg 1

The Bison defense held the Saxons to just one goal in a 3-1 victory on Thursday evening in Schaumburg. Krystal Vezzetti recorded the lone goal for the Saxons, while Jessica Sumsky blocked 16 shots and Ashley Johnson made 4 steals on the defensive end in the losing effort.

 

Fremd 10 Prospect 6

The Vikings won their second-straight home goal in Week 1 by holding off Prospect 10-6 on Thursday. Mandy Borre led the way with 4 goals for the Vikings. Kallie Shields and Nikki Newman both registered 2 scores in the loss, while goalie Lauren Broz made 9 saves in the losing effort for the Knights.

 

Hersey 12 Conant 6

Karolina Szymaszek recorded 3 goals to help lift Hersey past Conant 12-6 on Thursday. Angie Skittone and Carmen Rosas both scored 2 goals and goalie Maddie Demaret stopped 14 shots in the loss for the Cougars.

 

Hoffman 11 Meadows 7

Nicole Kasman registered 5 goals, Allie Ouimet added 3 scores, and Alex Vick blocked 14 shots as the Hawks defeated Meadows 11-7. Nina Catalano also scored 2 times in the victory for Hoffman. Jessica Dykstra tallied 3 goals in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Lake View 19 Lincoln Park 8

Baylee Cabrera registered 14 goals to help Lake View beat Lincoln Park 19-8 on Thursday.

 

Loyola 18 Glenbrook South 5

Marta Considine scored 6 goals and Evan Swenson tallied 4 scores in Loyola's 18-5 season-opening win over GBS on Thursday evening. Allison Sajnaj and Katie Lynch also combined to score 5 times and goalie Meredith O'Brien totaled 6 saves and 4 steals in the Ramblers' victory.

 

Marian 7 Saint Viator 4

Paige Wieser totaled 4 goals and Isabelle Keating chipped in with 2 scores as Marian jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and held off a late rally from the Lions to earn a 7-4 victory on Thursday evening. Emily Amadio added one score in the win for the Spartans.

 

Oak Park 12 Waubonsie Valley 2

Katie Appell totaled 7 goals and 6 steals and Samantha Robbins added 3 assists and 3 steals to help the Huskies earn a 12-2 victory over Waubonsie Valley. Anna Vogel also chipped in with 2 goals, while Jordin Hale and Zoe Erickson combined to make 5 saves and contribute 2 assists in the win.

 

Wheeling 11 Palatine 5

Kat Dobrowski scored 8 goals to pave the way for Wheeling in an 11-5 win over Palatine. Theresa Godlewski added 2 goals for the Wildcats in the winning effort. Rachel Chumbook tallied 3 scores and Caroline Wojtas put in the other 2 goals in the loss for the Pirates.

 

Whitney Young 8 Curie 6

Jessie Cronin scored 4 goals and Kennedy Baldwin added 2 scores as the Dolphins went on a 4-0 run in the final period to earn a come-from-behind 8-6 victory over Curie. Gabby Chelette and Nora Murphy each added a goal in the win for Whitney Young. Janet Santos and Jennifer Villanueva both recorded 2 goals in the loss for the Condors.
