TOURNAMENT RECAP (March 9)

 

Ramblers Looking Sharp After Fremd Tournament Win
Loyola set the tone early for a big day by beating host Fremd 11-5 in the tournament opener, then went on to earn convincing wins over Bremen and Maine East en route to claiming the Week 1 tournament title in Palatine on Saturday afternoon. Evan Swenson scored 12 goals, Marta Considine added 10 scores, and Allison Sajnaj contributed 9 goals as a balanced offensive attack and a solid defensive performance gave Loyola all the firepower necessary to finish the day with a 3-0 record. Fremd bounced back from the early loss to hold off Bremen and Maine East by three goals in each game, while the Red Jaguars claimed third place by beating the Blue Demons 13-3.


Saturday's Game Recaps

Loyola 11 Fremd 5

Evan Swenson registered 5 goals and Marta Considine added 4 scores in the Ramblers 11-5 victory over Fremd. Allison Sajnaj and Katie Lynch both tacked on one goal apiece in the Loyola win.

 

Bremen 13 Maine East 3

Hannah Schultz recorded 5 goals and Daisy Lozano added 3 goals as Bremen defeated Maine East 13-3. Eliza Mazgaj tallied 2 scores and Maria Protic added one goal in the loss for the Blue Demons.

 

Loyola 14 Maine East 1

Allison Sajnaj scored 5 goals and both Emi Croghan and Julia Sajnaj put in 2 goals in Loyola's 14-1 win over Maine East. Meredith O'Brien stopped 12 shots in the victory for the Ramblers.

 

Fremd 10 Bremen 7

Mandy Borre poured in 7 goals and the trio of Emma Hoffman, Leni Langas, and Samantha Barry each scored once in Fremd's 10-7 victory over Bremen. Hannah Schultz scored 4 times and Hannah Egan put in 2 scores in the loss for the Red Jaguars.

 

Loyola 20 Bremen 8

Evan Swenson recorded 6 goals and Marta Considine added 5 scores to lead Loyola past Bremen 20-8. Allison Sajnaj added 3 goals and Katie Lynch netted 2 scores as the Ramblers' defense totaled 15 saves in the win.
