TOURNAMENT RECAP (March 9)

New Trier Grabs Three Wins and a Title
The host Trevians fought off a tough challenge from Sandburg to win their tournament-opener and then beat both Evanston and St Viator to win their own event. Alexana Astor led the offense with 12 goals and nine different players got in on the scoring act to help the Trevians boast a 3-0 weekend record. Sarah Dolitsky scored 8 goals and Brittany Kamper added 5 scores for a Sandburg team that bounced back from the early loss to the hosts to beat Evanston and St Viator to finish 2-1. Meawhile, Yasi Nassiri put in 6 goals to help Evanston grab a win over St Viator for a third-place finish.

Saturday's Game Recaps

New Trier 6 Sandburg 5

Kelsey Willian recorded 3 goals and Alexana Astor added 2 scores as New Trier built a 5-2 halftime lead and held the Eagles scoreless in the final period to hold on to a 6-5 win. Samantha Padavic also netted one goal for the victorious Trevians. Lauren Olson scored 2 times and Cara Hayes, Lauren Olson, Maggie Foley, and Sarah Dolitsky each added one goal in the narrow loss for the Eagles.

New Trier 21 St Viator 1

Alexana Astor poured in 8 goals and Hannah Caywood added 3 scores to lead New Trier past St Viator 21-1. Jacqueline Glattard, Lindsey Siegel, Liz Joyce, and Shannon Kent all added 2 scores in the big win for the hosts. Laura Foss tallied the lone goal in the losing effort for the Lions.

Evanston 8 St Viator 2

Yasi Nassiri notched 3 scores to help the Wildkits earn an 8-2 victory over St Viator on Saturday. Clara Livingston, Courtney Gregori, Kyra Loew, Maddy Savage, and Nora Emrich all got in on the act with one goal in the Evanston win. Laura Foss scored the 2 goals for the Lions.

Sandburg 9 Evanston 3

Brittany Kamper, Maggie Foley, and Sarah Dolitsky each scored 2 goals to help the Eagles build a 5-0 halftime lead en route to a 9-3 win over Evanston. Cara Hays, Kim Katner, and Lauren Olson each added one tally in the win for Sandburg. Yasi Nassiri recorded 2 goals in the loss for the Wildkits.

Sandburg 14 St Viator 1

Sarah Dolitsky registered 5 goals and Brittany Kamper netted 3 scores in the Eagles' 14-1 triumph over St Viator. Kaitlyn Randich also scored 2 times and Cara Hays, Lauren Olson, and Maggie Foley each put in one score for the winners. Laura Foss scored once for the Lions.

New Trier 10 Evanston 4

Alexana Astor recorded 3 goals and Samantha Padavic added 2 scores as New Trier closed out the event with a 10-4 win over Evanston. Julia Ulrich, Kaitlin Medland, Kelsey Willian, Lindsey Siegel, and Shannon Kent all got in on the scoring with one goal apiece for the Trevians. Clara Livingston registered 2 goals in the loss for the Wildkits.
