The Pirates head up to Lincolnshire to battle the Patriots in a nonconference tilt after both teams were successful in their respective season-openers earlier in the week.

The Warriors begin their season by traveling to Oak Park to square off against the Huskies, who look to bounce back from a season-opening loss to Lyons on Monday.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Stevenson 21 Palatine 12

Zach Stephens scored 5 goals, Alex Divanyan and Andrew Shashin each totaled 4 scores, and both Alex Kapecki and Mitchell Sokolsky netted 3 goals in Stevenson's 21-12 home win over Palatine. The hosts jumped out to an 8-3 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back in earning the nonconference victory. Shaurya Gilani totaled 12 saves through the first three quarters before making way for Ben Vilensky, who stopped 4 shots in the final period. Meanwhile, Kristian Kalev led the Pirates with 4 scores, Omar El Hoffi and Wally Kleinfeldt both put in 3 goals, and Colin White also scored once and made 12 saves for Palatine in the losing effort.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

DLS 13 St Rita 8

The Meteors earned a 13-8 comeback win over St Rita as Angelo Espinoza scored 4 times and both Andy Bahena and Robert Rodriguez notched 3 scores. Diego Leonas added 2 goals and Vinny Scalise scored once in the season-opening win for DLS.

 

New Trier 12 Glenbrook North 11

Alex Grant and Chandler Tempest both netted 3 scores and Will Kohr put in 2 goals as the Trevians held off the Spartans 12-11 on Thursday night.

 

Oak Park 15 Waubonsie Valley 9

The Huskies bounced back from Monday night's loss with a 15-9 victory over Waubonsie Valley. Mark Hallman led the way with 5 goals, while Josh Gronwold and Lee Werner each put in 2 scores for OPRF. Alex West, Chris Brandt, Dmitry Baycharov, James Kelly, Riley Silber, and Robbie Wickes also scored one goal apiece for the victors. Cameron Steele scored 4 goals and Nathan Morris drew 4 ejections for the Warriors in the losing effort.

 

Prosser 14 Little Village 5

Michael Ruiz scored 7 times and Ivan Delgado put in 4 scores as Prosser defeated Little Village 14-5.

 

Shepard 10 Chicago Ag 5

Christian Reyes and Jerry Zachary both tallied 4 scores in the Astros' 10-5 win over Chicago Ag.

 

Whitney Young 10 Lane 8

The Dolphins fended off the Indians 10-8 in the first grudge match of the season between the two CPS schools. Whitney Young jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first quarter, but Lane clawed to within one of their rivals (8-7) early in the fourth period. Two straight goals for the Dolphins helped put the game away before a late consolation goal for the Indians finished the scoring.

 

York 14 R-B 6

Wil Hubert registered 6 goals to lead the Dukes to a 14-6 nonconference win over R-B. Billy Delaney and Matt Rodriguez also scored 2 goals apiece for the victors.

Nicole Guyett recorded 6 goals and both Katie Quinn and Monica Guyett registered 5 scores as the North Stars earned a 19-6 victory over Barrington. Quinn also totaled 5 assists and 8 steals, while Angelica Villa put in 3 scores for the winners. Alysson Foor also stopped 7 shots in the win.

Bremen 9 H-F 4

Hannah Schultz totaled 4 scores and Sarah Minnich notched 3 goals as the Red Jaguars beat the Vikings 9-4 on Thursday. Melissa Barrios also blocked 5 shots in the win. Amber Barney scored 2 times, Kelly Morrissey and Megan Dunlavy each scored once, and Rebecca Tanner blocked 8 shots in the loss for the hosts.

 

Fremd 18 Meadows 3

Sam DiCanio notched 7 goals, Tami Carlson scored 4 times, and Samantha Barry added 3 goals as the Vikings emerged with an 18-3 victory over Rolling Meadows on Thursday evening. Emma Jeronimus also stopped 10 shots, while Karolina Urban, Kayla Helsdingen, Nicole Warnstedt, and Nina Freund each tallied one score for the victors. Maggie Feikes scored 2 times and Sara Luedloff added one score in the losing effort for the Mustangs.

 

Loyola 22 Glenbrook South 4

Marta Considine poured in 6 goals and Alana Dean added 5 scores as the Ramblers blasted out to a 16-1 halftime lead en route to a 22-4 victory over the Titans. Claire Voss, Emi Croghan, Liz Kyle, and Megan Murtagh each pitched in with 2 goals and goaltender Colleen Ahern blocked 5 shots in the win. Rachel Spector led GBS with 3 scores in the losing effort.

 

Lyons 17 Hinsdale South 2

Haley Hughes scored 4 goals and ten other players registered goals for Lyons as they defeated Hinsdale South 17-2 in a West Suburban Conference matchup. Frankie Delleman, Julia Cohen, and Meredith Land each tallied 2 scores in the win for the Lions.

 

Marian 10 St Viator 5

The Spartans grabbed their second MCAC win of the opening week after traveling to St Viator to beat the Lions 10-5. Laura Foss recorded 4 scores in the loss for the hosts.

 

New Trier 6 Glenbrook North 2

Shannon Kent tallied 2 scores and Lauren Barrett, Maria Breen, Maddy McVey, and Stephanie Jodlomon each scored once to help New Trier get past GBN 6-2 on Thursday. Keelin Frank also made 6 saves in the win for the Trevians.

 

Northside 7 Latin 4

Morgan Nicholson recorded 3 goals, Martina Hale blocked 6 shots and scored 2 goals, and Heather Walker totaled 2 goals and 3 steals as Northside knocked off Latin 7-4.

 

Oak Park 21 Waubonsie Valley 5

Katie Appell scored 7 goals, Jilly Cronin recorded 5 scores, and Jordin Hale totaled 14 saves, 6 assists, and 6 steals as the Huskies earned a 21-5 win over Waubonsie Valley. Genevieve Curry also scored 3 times and Grace Martin put in 2 goals for in OPRF's season-opening victory.

 

Prospect 8 Conant 6

Mary Schiavone registered 3 scores, Amanda Fulk and Niki Neumann each added 2 goals, and Lauren Broz denied 12 shots as Prospect defeated Conant 8-6 on Thursday. Michelle Vuong also added a key goal in the win for the Knights. Carmen Rosas scored 4 times, Angie Skittone and Emily Weingart each scored once, and Maddy Demaret blocked 11 shots in the loss for the Cougars.

 

Prosser 7 Little Village 6

Karla Cervantes tallied 3 scores and Abbey Ayala notched 2 goals as Prosser held off Little Village 7-6. Karem Arenas and Paola Rodriguez both scored 2 times in the loss for the hosts.
