FEATURED EVENT

PALATINE TOURNAMENT

The fourth-annual Palatine Tournament normally provides a much better look at how several of the top teams in the state will fare during the upcoming season. This year's edition will be no exception, as some of the state's best teams do battle in a nine-team tournament that features three more preliminary round games on Saturday morning before the championship round gets underway.

The Naperville-area's best teams get together over the weekend for a ten-game tournament that serves as a preview to who will have the upper-hand when the postseason rolls around.

FREMD TOURNAMENT

The Fremd Tournament features four Top 25 teams going head-to-head beginning at 9:00am on Saturday morning. The event starts with #15 Fremd taking on #6 Loyola, while #9 LWC faces #16 Bremen. The teams mix it up after that for a grand total of six games.

PALATINE TOURNAMENT

Palatine 19 McHenry 7

Omar El Hoffi scored 6 goals, Kristian Kalev notched 4 scores, and Wally Kleinfeldt registered 3 scores as Palatine defeated McHenry 19-7. Garrett Floden scored 3 times in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Curie 12 Mundelein 3

Ivan Ariza scored 4 goals and Jeronimo Chavez put in 3 scores in Curie's 12-3 victory over Mundelein. Jude Krauss scored all 3 goals in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

H-F 18 Latin 8

Broc Thompson scored 5 goals and Haden Santefort netted 4 goals in the Vikings' 18-8 victory over Latin. Steven Grotewold recorded 5 goals in the loss for the Romans.

 

Loyola 13 Palatine 9

Cameron Shewchuck tallied 3 scores and George Finn, Jack Nickele, Matt Kearney, and Tom Baker all put in 2 scores in the Ramblers' 13-9 win over Palatine. Omar El Hoffi scored 5 goals and Kristian Kalev tallied 4 scores in the Pirates' loss.

 

Curie 11 New Trier 6

Jeronimo Chavez scored 5 goals to help lift the Condors over the Trevians 11-6 on Saturday. Chris Keller and Jack Riggio both tallied 2 scores in the loss for New Trier.

 

Mundelein 12 McHenry 10

Andrew Gray scored 5 goals and Art Kasemets, Jude Krauss, Kyle Siebert, and Mike Ward each scored 2 goals in the Mustangs' 12-10 win over McHenry. Kyle Braun scored 4 times and Matt Peck netted 3 goals in the loss for the Warriors.

 

St Ignatius 9 Loyola 8

John Reyes scored 4 goals and both Jesus Juarez and Shane Hughes each put in 2 scores as the Wolfpack held off a late rally from Loyola to earn a 9-8 victory. Billy Barth also scored once in the win for Ignatius. Cameron Shewchuck recorded 3 goals and Ragen Murphy tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Ramblers.

 

Curie 11 H-F 6

Jeronimo Chavez registered 5 goals to lead Curie past H-F 11-6 on Saturday. Broc Thompson and Haden Santefort each tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Mundelein 23 Latin 10

Art Kasemets and Mike Ward both scored 6 goals to lead Mundelein to a 23-10 victory over Latin.

 

St Ignatius 17 Palatine 8

Shane Hughes totaled 5 goals and the trio of Billy Barth, John Reyes, and Tom Dowling scored 3 goals apiece as St Ignatius won the Palatine Tournament after beating the hosts 17-8. Kristian Kalev scored 3 goals and Omar El Hoffi added 2 scores in the loss for the Pirates.

 

New Trier 11 H-F 5

Chris Keller and Chandler Tempest each scored 3 goals as the Trevians knocked off the Vikings 11-5. Broc Thompson scored 2 times in the loss for H-F.

 

McHenry 20 Latin 10

Josh Frost registered 4 goals and Matt Peck netted 3 goals as McHenry beat Latin 20-10 in the final game of the Palatine Tournament on Saturday night.

 

 

NAPERVILLE TOURNAMENT

Naperville North 13 Metea Valley 0

Nolan Roberts contributed 3 goals and both BD Chapman and David Holzer netted 2 scores as the Huskies earned a 13-0 shutout win over Metea Valley.

 

Neuqua Valley 12 Waubonsie Valley 10

Simon Shatinsky registered 4 scores and both Lucas Becker and Scott DePuy put in 2 goals to help the Wildcats gets past Waubonsie Valley 12-10. John Hedderman blocked 7 shots in the Neuqua win.

 

 

STAGG TOURNAMENT

Oak Park 7 STC North 6

Mark Hallman scored 2 goals to lead a balanced Huskies' offense to a narrow 7-6 win over STC North. Nick Traxler recorded 4 scores, Collin Bawolek blocked 11 shots, and John Pretet drew 6 ejections in the loss for the North Stars.

 

R-B 12 Morton 9

Paul Sitkiewicz notched 5 scores to lead the Bulldogs past Morton 12-9. Tommy Lyzbicki put in 4 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Bradley 14 Hinsdale Central 6

Nick Dalzell recorded 5 goals and Grant Langfoss scored 4 times to help lift the Boilers get past Hinsdale Central 14-6.

 

STC North 11 St Rita 2

John Pretet and Nick Traxler both recorded 4 goals in the North Stars' 11-2 win over St Rita. The victors also benefited from Collin Bawolek's 11 saves also helped STC North earn the win.

 

Oak Park 9 Stagg 4

Mark Hallman tallied 3 scores in the Huskies' 9-4 win over the Chargers. Nick and Zack Amendola both scored 2 times in the loss for the hosts.

 

St Rita 11 Hinsdale Central 10

Daniel Sliazas totaled 5 goals as St Rita held off Hinsdale Central 11-10 in the seventh place game of the Stagg Tournament on Saturday. Wade Kinney scored 5 times in the loss for the Red Devils.

 

Stagg 12 Bradley 5

Nick Amendola scored 5 goals as Stagg defeated Bradley 12-5 in the fifth place game of the Chargers' tournament. Nick Dalzell tallied 3 scores in the loss for the Boilers.

 

STC North 17 Morton 4

John Pretet registered 5 goals in the North Stars' 17-4 win over Morton to claim third place at the Stagg Tournament. Nathan Bawolek and Tim Steele each added 3 goals, while Collin Bawolek made 8 saves in the North win.

 

Oak Park 11 R-B 10

Mark Hallman recorded 4 goals to lead the Huskies to an 11-10 title game win over R-B. Paul Sitkiewicz scored 4 times in the loss for the Bulldogs.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Fenwick 17 Schaumburg 9

Danny Farmer scored 7 goals to help Fenwick beat Schaumburg 17-9 in a nonconference weekend game on Saturday. Andrew Bertschy, Colin Daly, and David Durkin each added 2 goals in the Friars' win. Mike Hill also stopped 8 shots in the victory.

Barrington 13 St Viator 11 (OT)

Sam Gavars scored 9 times to lead the host Fillies to a 13-11 overtime victory over St Viator. Bridget Hulsebosch led the Lions with 5 goals in the loss.

 

Buffalo Grove 9 St Viator 8

Bridget Whited and Sarah Morosan both scored 3 goals and Katy Kirsh, Rachel Rabs, and Jesse Graziano each added one goal as the Bison held off St Viator 9-8. Rebecca Gaare also made 10 saves for BG in the winning effort. Bridget Hulsebosch scored 4 goals and Laura Foss netted 3 goals in the loss for the Lions.

 

Buffalo Grove 11 Barrington 10 (OT)

Bridget Whited and Rachel Rabs each put in 4 goals to help BG get past Barrington 11-10 in overtime on Saturday. Sam Gavars led the Fillies' offense with 4 scores in the losing effort.

 

 

CONANT TOURNAMENT

Conant 18 STC East 3

Carmen Rosas slammed home 6 goals and Angie Skittone registered 5 scores as Conant beat STC East 18-3 on Saturday morning. Maddy Demaret made 10 saves, Emily Weingart drew 5 ejections, and Sam Wooley and Skittone combined to make 9 steals for the Cougars.

 

Lane 14 Lake Forest 3

Natalie O'Connell recorded 5 goals and Ally Cortez netted 4 scores in Lane's 14-3 win over Lake Forest.

 

Conant 14 Lake Forest 2

Emily Weingart scored 4 goals and Angie Skittone, Carmen Rosas, Miranda Fenlon, and Sam Wooley each put in 2 scores in Conant's 14-2 victory over Lake Forest. Maddy Demaret blocked 7 shots to help the Cougars advance to the virtual title game of their own event.

 

Lane 10 STC East 5

Ally Cortez scored 3 goals to help lead the Indians to a 10-5 win over STC East, setting up a title game showdown with Conant in the event's final contest.

 

STC East 7 Lake Forest 5

Haley Salveson scored 4 times as the Saints defeated Lake Forest 7-5. Abby Warren notched 3 scores in the loss for the Scouts.

 

Conant 10 Lane 8

Carmen Rosas recorded 5 goals and Angie Skittone tallied 4 scores as Conant defeated Lane 10-8 to win their own tournament on Saturday. Claire Rosas added one goal and Maddy Demaret provided a solid line of defense all weekend with 8 saves in the win.

 

 

EGR TOURNAMENT

Mother McAuley 10 Jenison 0

Julie Olivares recorded 3 goals and the trio of Clare Bryar, Fran Williamson, and Maggie Hennigan each put in 2 goals as the Mighty Macs shutout Jenison 10-0. Mary June O'Connell also added one score and goaltender Hannah Murphy earned her first career shutout.

 

Mother McAuley 11 Rockford 5

Fran Williamson scored 5 times, Julie Olivares netted 3 scores, and Clare Bryar notched 2 scores as the Mighty Macs knocked off Michigan's defending state champions 11-5 on Saturday. Maggie Hennigan also added a goal for McAuley, as they improved to 4-0 over the weekend with one game remaining against Ann Arbor Huron.

 

 

FREMD TOURNAMENT

Loyola 13 Fremd 7

Marta Considine tallied 8 goals and Claire Voss netted 3 goals in Loyola's 13-7 victory over Fremd. Sam DiCanio scored 3 times and both Karolina Urban and Samantha Barry added 2 goals in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Bremen 9 LWC 5

Hannah Schultz recorded 7 goals to lead the Red Jaguars to a 9-5 win over LWC. Liz Klock scored 3 times in the loss for the Knights.

 

Fremd 10 LWC 9

Megan Younker and Sam DiCanio recorded 3 goals apiece and Samantha Barry added 2 goals as Fremd fended off LWC 10-9. Liz Klock totaled 4 goals and Cailey Davern scored 3 times in the Knights' loss.

 

Loyola 12 Bremen 9

Marta Considine put in 7 goals and Julia Sajnaj netted 2 scores in the Ramblers' 12-9 win over Bremen. Hannah Schultz scored 3 goals and both Jacky Zuniga and Melissa Barrios tallied 2 goals in the loss

 

Loyola 12 LWC 7

Marta Considine registered 5 goals and both Claire Voss and Julia Sajnaj totaled 3 scores as Loyola won the event after beating LWC 12-7. Liz Klock scored 4 goals in the loss for Central.

 

Bremen 12 Fremd 6

Hannah Schultz led Bremen past Fremd 12-6 with a 10-goal performance. Samantha Barry scored 3 times in the loss for the Vikings.

 

 

HINSDALE CENTRAL TOURNAMENT

Hinsdale Central 14 Hoffman 5

Sophia Glomb registered 3 goals while Caroline Oakum, Clayton Riedl, Molly Gates, Monique Courtney, and Nina Relias each scored 2 times in the Red Devils' 14-5 victory over Hoffman. Elyssa Hawkins also chipped in with a goal in the win.

 

STC North 16 Hoffman 2

Nicole Guyett scored 7 times, Katie Difiglio netted 3 scores, and Katie Quinn scored 2 goals as the North Stars knocked off Hoffman 16-2. Allyson Foor also contributed 4 saves and 2 assists in the win.

 

STC North 4 Hinsdale Central 3

Nicole Guyett scored all 4 goals for the North Stars as they edged Hinsdale Central 4-3 to advance to the tournament's title game. Allyson Foor also denied 8 shots in the narrow win for North. Frances Gibson, Molly Gates, and Nina Relias each scored once in the loss for the hosts.

 

LWE 10 STC North 3

The Griffins finished their perfect week by claiming a 10-3 win over STC North to win the Hinsdale Central Tournament. Nicole Guyett scored 2 goals and Katie Difiglio totaled 5 steals in the loss for North.

 

 

NAPERVILLE TOURNAMENT

Katie Horn tallied 5 goals and Jilian Eiken registered 4 scores in the Huskies' 15-1 win over Metea Valley. Amber McClure also scored 2 times in the win for North. Leah Hummel tallied one score in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Naperville Central 18 Waubonsie Valley 3

Jessica Fox and Krista Drapalik each tallied 3 scores and Faith Vandercar made 6 saves as the Redhawks downed the Warriors 18-3.

 

Naperville North 10 Neuqua Valley 2

The Huskies raced out to a 6-0 lead en route to a 10-2 victory over Neuqua Valley; Jilian Eiken, Taylor Stoner, Katie Horn, and Elle Mattern each scored 2 goals in the Huskies' win. Morgan Miller put in both goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Metea Valley 12 Waubonsie Valley 7

Leah Hummel registered 5 goals and Brittany Effner added 4 scores in Metea Valley's 12-7 triumph over Waubonsie Valley. Kimela Srey and Sarah Anderson both tallied 2 scores in the Warriors' loss.

 

Naperville Central 6 Neuqua Valley 5

Kristina Altuve drew a penalty with :23 left in regulation and Jessica Fox converted the shot to the upper left corner to help the Redhawks overcome a 5-0 halftime deficit and beat Neuqua Valley 6-5. Issi French made 16 saves in the loss for the Wildcats, while Lauren Backe and Morgan Miller each scored 2 goals and Kaitlyn Gorski tallied one score.

 

Neuqua Valley 6 Metea Valley 5

Kaitlyn Gorski and Morgan Miller each tallied 2 scores as the Wildcats fended off Metea Valley 6-5.

 

Naperville North 9 Waubonsie Valley 3

Jilian Eiken scored 5 goals to lead Naperville North to a 9-5 win over Waubonsie Valley as they won the Naperville Tournament over the weekend.

 

 

NORTHSIDE TOURNAMENT

Oak Park 20 Northside 1

Katie Appell recorded 6 goals and both Gena Curry and Maddie Wolfe both put in 3 scores as the Huskies beat Northside 20-1. Jane Patzke scored the solitary goal for the Mustangs in the loss.

 

York 8 Marian 5

Grace Achepohl tallied 4 scores and both Kirsten Rasnic and Perri Brinkmeier scored 2 times as York beat Marian 8-5. Sophie Sesto scored 3 goals and Hannah Morris added 2 goals in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Oak Park 20 Hinsdale South 2

Anna Vogel registered 5 goals and Katie Appell put in 3 scores as OPRF defeated Hinsdale South 20-2. Ava Stukas and Jean Kiwiet both scored once in the loss for the Hornets.

 

York 10 Northside 7

Grace Achepohl scored 3 goals to help lift York over Northside 10-7 on Saturday. Ana Lee Pokrzywa and Morgan Nicholson both scored 2 times in the loss for the Mustangs.

Rachel Chumbook scored 7 goals and Caroline Wojtas added 4 scores in the Pirates' 15-5 victory over Whitney Young. Jessie Cronin led the Dolphins with 3 scores in the loss.

 

Stevenson 18 Whitney Young 1

Melissa Gartenberg recorded 5 goals and Allison Travetto notched 4 scores in the Patriots' 18-1 triumph over Whitney Young. Pamela Medina scored the lone goal in the loss for Young.

 

Palatine 14 Wheeling 10

Rachel Chumbook led the Pirates' offense with 7 goals as they beat Wheeling 14-10. Theresa Godlewski scored 5 goals and Emily Sowa added 3 goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Wheeling 14 Whitney Young 7

Theresa Godlewski scored 6 goals and Rachel Ropski put in 3 scores as Wheeling beat the Dolphins 14-7. Jessie Cronin tallied 5 goals and Gabby Chelette put in 2 scores for Young.

 

Stevenson 13 Palatine 6
