GAME RECAPS (Friday, March 30)
 

BOYS

Lindblom 18 Washington 5

Marshawn Shelton recorded 9 goals to lead Lindblom to an 18-5 win over Washington.

 

NILES WEST TOURNAMENT

Stagg 19 Metea Valley 13

Spencer Krivanec totaled 5 goals and 4 steals and Jihad Ramadan blocked 12 shots in Stagg's 19-13 win over Metea Valley in the opener for both teams at the Niles West Tournament.

 

SCHAUMBURG TOURNAMENT

Wheeling 13 Mundelein 2

Austin Ihde scored 6 goals, Ben Reiff notched 3 scores, and Dan Shriber put in 2 goals as Wheeling beat Mundelein 13-2 in the first game of the Schaumburg Tournament for both teams.

 

York 7 Wheeling 3

Alex Waldherr and Patrick McKenna each scored 3 times in the Dukes' 7-3 victory over Wheeling.

 

GIRLS

Lindblom 16 Washington 0

Danielle Patrick totaled 11 goals as Lindblom shutout Washington 16-0 on Friday evening.

 

Maine East 13 Hoffman 4

Medina Husejnovic totaled 8 goals and 12 steals to lift the Blue Demons past the Hawks 13-4 on Friday in a nonconference fixture. Maria Protic added 3 goals and goalie Isabelle Trier notched a goal and made a total of 17 saves in the winning effort.

 

Mother McAuley 13 Bremen 7

The Mighty Macs used a balanced offensive performance to earn a key nonconference win over Bremen, beating the Red Jaguars 13-7 on Friday night. Emma Martinus scored 4 goals and Nora Plank added 3 scores in the loss for Bremen.

 

LINCOLN-WAY EAST TOURNAMENT

Andrew 13 R-B 4

Abbey Wrobel scored 5 goals and AnneMarie Lettiere added 3 scores in the T-Bolts 13-4 win over R-B. Laura Freeman tallied 2 scores and Jordan Bartolini made 9 saves in the victory for Andrew.

 

Schaumburg 15 Richards 10

Krystal Vezzeti and Rebecca Brow both scored 4 goals and Kristy Bessler added 3 scores as the Saxons defeated Richards 15-10 on Friday. Jessica Sumsky also made 8 saves in the victory for Schaumburg.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Richards 6

Liz Klock scored 4 goals and Brittany Knowlton notched 3 scores to lead LWC past Richards 11-6 in the consolation round of the LWE Tournament on Friday.

 

Lincoln-Way North 15 Schaumburg 5

The Phoenix advanced to the title game of the LWE Tournament with a second consecutive offensive onslaught, beating Schaumburg 15-5. Jenna Tasic led North with 5 goals in the winning effort. Ashley Johnson scored 3 times and Rachel Fish put in 2 scores in the loss for the Saxons.

 

Lincoln-Way East 9 Andrew 8

The Griffins' denied a late rally from Andrew to earn a 9-8 win and advance to their own tournament title game. The T-Bolts stormed back from four goals down in the second half to cut the East lead to one, but LWE secured the win with the late goal. Eva Fugger totaled 4 scores in the loss for the T-Bolts.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Schaumburg Tournament

The Saxons' eight-team tournament begins on Friday morning with a crossover format where each team plays four games over the weekend; the hosts welcome Lafayette and Lindbergh from Missouri while also including Libertyville, Mundelein, STC East, Wheeling, and York from Illinois.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Niles West Tournament

The Wolves host a nine-team tournament over the weekend, kicking things off at 4:00pm in a battle with Foreman in the preliminary round. Also in the field are DeLaSalle, Maine West, Metea Valley, Waubonsie, Stagg, and Von Steuben. The championship round shapes up later in the evening and begins on Saturday morning.

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Lincoln-Way East Tournament

The Griffins' annual tournament gets underway at 4:30pm at two different pools (LWE/LWN) and includes an eclectic mix of talented teams, featuring: Andrew, LWC, LWE, LWN, LWW, R-B, Schaumburg, and Richards. The eight-team bracket format features four opening-round games in the late afternoon and is followed by semifinal round games in the late evening, which will setup Saturday's championship round.

 

Mother McAuley at Bremen

Two of the top teams in one of the TBA Sectionals meet in what could be a showcase of a semifinal or even a final round game when the playoffs roll around in May.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Hoffman at Maine East

The Blue Demons (6-2) look to avoid an upset when they play host to Hoffman Estates (1-11) on Friday night in a nonconference affair.
