The long-awaited rematch finally arrives at the end of the season's opening month, as the Friars look to avenge their state title game loss to the Ramblers in an important Catholic League duel.

St Patrick 8 St Rita 7

The Shamrocks outlasted the Mustangs 8-7 in a Catholic League contest on Monday night. Jason Schuler and Joseph Gibson each scored 3 goals and Tim Noble blocked 13 shots in the win for Pats. Mike Taylor also put in one goal in the win. Eric Johnson, Lorenzo Henrichs and Matt Lopez each registered 2 scores and Kevin Cronin put in one goal in the losing effort.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Andrew 7 Lincoln-Way North 6

Eric Villasenor scored the game-winning goal in the late stages of regulation after Brett Hofer scored two straight goals to help the T-Bolts overcome a 6-4 deficit to beat LWN 7-6. Hofer drew a penalty shot and converted from the spot to cut the Phoenix lead to one and then scored on the ensuing possession to tie the game before Villasenor's heroics. The duo both scored 2 goals, Dan Cavato totaled one goal and 10 steals, while Broderick Garren and Matt Bobber each scored once in the win. Colin Hovorka and Mike Brennan also combined to make 9 saves for Andrew.

 

Barrington 8 Conant 4

The Broncos took over sole possession of the MSL West lead after getting past Conant 8-4. Chase Lesniak led the victors with 5 scores while James Fischer, Matt Gouskos and Marshall Mathias each netted one goal in the win. Connor Schmitz and Mihir Patel both tallied 2 scores in the losing effort.

 

Fenwick 20 Loyola 6

The Friars outscored the defending champions 13-0 in the second half to run away with a 20-6 victory on Monday. Ryan Masi recorded 7 goals while Andrew Bertschy put in 6 goals and Danny Farmer notched 5 goals in the win. Mike Hill and Will Skowron combined to make 9 saves for the visitors. Mike Considine and Ragen Murphy each scored 2 times in the loss for the hosts.

 

Fremd 12 Palatine 3

Robert DePau and Zach Starkey each scored 3 goals, Alex Nicholas totaled 2 goals and 9 steals, and Zak Keper made 10 saves in the Vikings' 12-3 win over Palatine. Dan Anderson and Nate Jordan each tallied 2 scores in the winning effort. Adam Smith, Ryan Schlaiss, and TJ May each scored one goal, Jake Conrad made 12 saves, and Jacob Baran made 4 steals in the loss for the Pirates.

 

Morgan Park 21 Solario 8

Christian Cooper recorded 9 goals, Mike Crawley scored 5 times, and James Harris totaled 3 goals and 6 steals in Morgan Park's 21-8 triumph over Solario.

 

Mundelein 16 McHenry 9

Mike Ward poured in 11 goals and drew 4 ejections as the Mustangs defeated McHenry 16-9.

 

Schaumburg 19 Hoffman 10

Tyler Gustafson racked up 11 goals and Jack Pyde totaled 3 goals and 4 assists in Schaumburg's 19-10 victory over Hoffman. Frank Kovar also scored 3 times and James Birriel netted 2 scores for the Saxons. Dirgham Nubani scored 3 goals and Jacob Pasaye notched 3 scores in the loss for the Hawks.

 

St Ignatius 9 St Viator 3

Shane Hughes recorded 5 goals to celebrate his birthday and Brendan Stelmach added 3 scores as the Wolfpack defeated St Viator 9-3. Gunnar Glaab added one score and Sam Enger totaled 6 saves and 4 assists in the win.

Palatine 8 Fremd 7

Caroline Wojtas scored 6 goals and drew 5 ejections while Tess O'Brien made 16 saves as Palatine edged Fremd 8-7 in a rivalry game on Monday. Hannah Jozefat also scored 2 times in the win for the Pirates. Tami Carlson tallied 3 scores and both Emily Kini and Emma Hoffman scored 2 goals  in the loss for the Vikings.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Conant 16 Barrington 4

Carmen Rosas scored 9 goals and Maddy Demaret totaled 15 saves and 4 assists in the Cougars' 16-4 victory over Barrington. Paulina Chowaniec also scored 3 goals, Sam Wooley notched a goal and led the defense with 5 steals, while Claire Rosas, Emily Weingart, and Miranda Fenlon each tallied one score in the win. Mia Latimer totaled 2 goals and both Isabella Rojas and Nicole Runtz scored once in the loss.

 

Fenwick 10 Marian 5

Kelly Frumkin tallied 5 scores, Catie Wallace netted 3 goals, and Anna Sullivan stopped 10 shots as the Friars beat Marian 10-5. Lauren Poland and Maggie Frumkin each added one score for the victors.

 

Jones-Payton 19 Little Village 2

Haley Gibbs and Lindsay Opie each recorded 2 goals to help the Lady Eagles earn a 19-2 win over Little Village on Monday evening.

 

Lincoln-Way North 14 Andrew 4

Cassidy Degraff totaled 6 goals and 4 assists and four other players (Emily Cheshire, Jocie Moustis, Julia Porco, Sarah Jackson) scored 2 goals apiece as the Phoenix downed Andrew 14-4 on Monday night. Caily Friel scored 3 goals, Alexys Knight scored once, and Catherine Stouffer made 14 saves in the loss for the T-Bolts.

 

Meadows 6 Hersey 4

Erin Pletch recorded 3 goals, Sarah Luedloff netted 2 scores and Betsy Zanocco made 23 saves as the Mustangs outscored the Huskies 2-0 in the final period to earn a 6-4 win in MSL East action. Anna Frantom also scored once in the winning effort. Katie Lutz led the Hersey attack with 2 scores in the loss.

 

Richards 10 Stagg 9

Sarah Coffman scored 4 times and made 13 steals while both Halimah Prunty and Natalie Fadden scored 2 goals in the Muttdogs' 10-9 win over Stagg. Lauren DeAngelis registered 4 goals in the losing effort.

 

Schaumburg 12 Hoffman 0

Britney Vasquez scored 4 times and Katrina Vargo recorded a shutout as the Saxons blanked the Hawks 12-0. Becca Kasner and Brianna Vasquez each netted 2 goals in the win for the hosts.

 

Wheeling 7 Prospect 6

The Wildcats took over the top spot in the MSL East with a 7-6 win over the Knights. Theresa Godlewski notched 4 scores, Argelia Diaz recorded 2 goals, and Shannon Richards scored once in the victory for Wheeling. Meanwhile, Danielle McCallister and Gracie Dix each scored 2 goals while Megan Pfeiffer and Niki Neumann both tallied one score in the loss.
