TOURNAMENT REPORT

 

Preview

The Shamrocks' tournament features a dynamic group of competitive teams with Bremen, Brother Rice, Evanston, H-F, Lane, LWE, Maine South and St Rita leading the list of contenders. The eight-team field will begin play on Friday night while the championship round will begin on Saturday afternoon. St Patrick won the 2015 edition of the event after posting a 4-0 record against most of the same teams that return for this year's tournament.

Game Recaps

St Patrick 5 Lane 0

Due to the CPS strike, the opening game of the St Patrick Tournament has been cancelled. The game will be declared a victory for the Shamrocks and Lane will fully participate in the event on Saturday.

 

Brother Rice 10 Bremen 2

The Crusaders picked up an opening round victory by beating Bremen 10-2 on Friday. Michael Feeley put in both goals for Bremen in the loss.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 17 Evanston 5

John Weeks totaled 6 goals, Johnnie Schmidt scored 3 times, Travis Tanner put in 2 scores and Luke Santefort totaled 9 saves and 5 assists in the Vikings' 17-5 win over Evanston.

 

Lincoln-Way East 12 Bremen 7

The Griffins earned their second win of the event after beating Bremen 12-7. Michael Feeley registered 4 goals, David Sauerman netted 2 scores and Andrew Costello blocked 7 shots in the losing effort.

 

Lincoln-Way East 9 Homewood-Flossmoor 7

The Griffins staved off a late rally from H-F and scored an insurance goal in the closing seconds in order to earn a 9-7 win over H-F. Travis Tanner scored 4 goals, Johnnie Schmidt netted 2 scores and Luke Santefort blocked 12 shots in the loss.

 

Bremen 13 St Rita 8

Alex Hollowa totaled 5 goals and Michael Feeley added 5 scores as Bremen defeated St Rita 13-8.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 8 Maine South 7 (OT)

Travis Tanner recorded 3 goals and both Johnnie Schmidt and Michael Bonthron tallied 2 scores as the Vikings outlasted Maine South in overtime 8-7. John Weeks added one score while Luke Santefort totaled 13 saves and 3 assists in the win.
