MATCH OF THE DAY

6:00pm - #2 Naperville Central at #5 Neuqua Valley

The showdown for what could be the top seed in next month's Neuqua Valley Sectional has finally arrived on Thursday night just two days after the Wildcats outlasted Naperville North in overtime. Can they snag another huge win over a Top 10 team or will the Redhawks be able beat the Wildcats for the second time this season after earning a 17-12 victory at the end of Week 1?

 

KEEP AN EYE ON

5:00pm - #12 Sandburg at #15 Andrew

Another game with a potential top seed on the line take place in Tinley Park on Thursday as the T-Bolts host the Eagles in a contest that could also have major implications on the SWSC title race.

The Scouts are on a roll and have only one loss to their credit so far in 2015, but they will face a major test when they travel to Lincolnshire to take on the undefeated Patriots in a North Suburban Conference game.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Naperville Central 12 Neuqua Valley 9

Nick Walker recorded 5 goals and 7 blocks while Kyle Jackson scored 4 times to help lead the Redhawks past the Wildcats 12-9 on Thursday at NVHS. Phillip Emden scored 2 goals, Christian May tallied one score and Joe Lawrence made 7 saves in the win. Simon Shatinsky scored 4 goals, Lucas Becker put in 2 scores and Austin Mollway made 8 saves for the Wildcats. Joey Dalesandro and Scott DePuy also registered one goal apiece in the loss.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Andrew 11 Sandburg 9

The T-Bolts maintained their SWSC Red lead and made a strong bid for the top seed in next months' LWN Sectional by beating Sandburg 11-9 on Thursday. Kyle Lynch scored the game-winner on a drive with just over one minute left in regulation while Brett Hofer, who recorded 6 goals, sealed the win with late goal for Andrew. Dan Cavato led the defense with 5 steals while Colin Hovorka and Mike Brennan combined to make 5 blocks and 4 steals for the victors. Mitch Zieler led the Eagles with 5 goals, Tino Pappas put in 2 scores and both Majd Ibrahim and Mike Hinde scored once in the losing effort.

 

Brother Rice 15 Stagg 14 (OT)

Brennan Russell scored with less than one second left in regulation off a nice feed from Matt Bachler to complete a fourth period comeback and send the game to OT before Rice goalie Patrick Cunningham scored a buzzer beater at the end of the extra session to give the Crusaders a 15-14 win over Stagg. The game-winning goal came after a Chargers' goal was disallowed with three seconds left and Cunningham alertly fired into the other net amidst the chaos to secure the victory.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 11 Lincoln-Way Central 10

Haden Santefort recorded 7 goals and Luke Santefort saved 11 shots as the Vikings outlasted LWC 11-10 in overtime on Thursday night in New Lenox. Peter Mitchell also scored 2 times in the win. Pat Burke put in 3 scores, Andrew Smith scored 2 times and Jake Burke blocked 15 shots in the loss for the Knights.

 

Lockport 15 Lincoln-Way West 7

Zach Elias poured in 7 goals and Ian Greenway netted 3 scores in the Porters' 15-7 triumph over LWW. Eric Johnson and Eric Krawczyk each added 2 goals while Angelo Demarco tallied one score in the win.

 

McHenry 11 STC North 2

The Warriors earned a key 11-2 home victory over STC North on Thursday night to improve to 8-6-1 on the season. Statistics for the winners are not available. John Quinn and Ryan Helfers each scored once while Garrett Allamian stopped 10 shots in the loss for the North Stars.

 

New Trier 13 Glenbrook South 11

Alex Grant scored 5 goals and Chandler Tempest tallied 4 scores as the Trevians knocked off GBS 13-11. Danny Dragman scored 3 goals, Peter Dales and Richard Poma each scored 2 times and Davis Hianik made 14 saves in the losing effort.

 

Stevenson 18 Lake Forest 2

Kurt Holzer scored 4 goals and dished out 3 assists while Collin Kapecki and Dan Maleski each scored 3 times in Stevenson's 18-2 win over Lake Forest. Alex Kapecki, Ben Lauter, Cris Tomasetti and Nick Koto each added 2 goals in the victory for the Patriots.

 

STC East 9 Maine West 8 (2 OT)

Dustin Differding sent the game to overtime with a game-tying goal in the fourth quarter, sent the game to sudden death with another game-tying goal in the second overtime period, then won the game with his fourth and final goal in sudden death as the Saints prevailed 9-8 over Maine West. Jack Sweeney and Sean Sweeney both netted 2 goals and Amaar Baig added one score in the win for East. Brendan Atwood put in 5 goals and Ethan Herrera scored 2 times in the loss for the Warriors.

Neuqua Valley 11 Naperville Central 9

Morgan Miller scored 6 goals and Issi French saved 22 shots and made 4 steals as the Wildcats defeated Naperville Central 11-9 on Thursday night. Amy Blencowe scored 2 key goals in the final period and the trio of Catherine Carroll, Nicole Walsh (3 steals) and Zoe Salafatinos (3 assists) each scored once.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Evanston 13 Maine South 8

Honore Collins scored 4 goals and both Emily Mohrenweiser and Millie Rosen each scored 3 times in the Wildkits' 13-8 victory over Maine South. Edie Block and Michelle Pacheco both added 2 goals in the win for Evanston. Kalin Bender netted 3 goals and Kamila Orzech scored 2 times in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Glenbrook North 15 Maine East 10

Lindsay Fraser totaled 8 goals and Patricia Doolan scored 4 times in the Spartans' 15-10 win over Maine East. Emily Schwander, Lauren Sulkowski and Patti Grod each added one goal while Shari Markovitz made 6 saves for the victors.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 8 Homewood-Flossmoor 5

Kim Bernhard tallied 4 goals while Cailey Davern, Erin Muellerschoen, Nicole Howe and Sam Schletz each scored once in the Knights' 8-5 victory over H-F. Erin Kay also stopped 6 shots in the winning effort. Amber Barney recorded 3 goals, Emily Mathews put in 2 scores ad Rebecca Tanner made 10 saves in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Lincoln-Way East 14 Bradley 10

Teresa DiGiovanni recorded 4 goals and Abby Olivieri totaled 3 goals and 4 steals in the Griffins' 14-10 victory over Bradley.

 

Lincoln-Way North 13 Stagg 6

Cassidy Degraff totaled 7 goals and 9 steals while Julia Porco notched 3 scores to help the Phoenix beat Stagg 13-6. Sarah Jackson added 2 goals and Jocie Moustis netted one goal in the win for North.

 

Naperville North 14 Metea Valley 3

Jilian Eiken and Katie Horn both registered 4 goals while Caitlin Holzer and Olivia Eiken each put in 2 goals in the Huskies' 14-3 win over Metea Valley. Danielle Pugh and Meredith Conway both added one score in the winning effort. Abbie Chamberlain, Abby Smedley and Gabby Duval each scored once in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Sandburg 17 Andrew 1

Sarah Dolitsky recorded 6 goals and Morgan Bartelment stopped 12 shots in the Eagles' 17-1 victory over Andrew. Caitlyn Olson, Mia Robin, Trisha Mangila and Stephanie Pappas each added 2 goals while Olson led the defense with 6 steals.

 

STC North 9 Riverside-Brookfield 2

Katie Difiglio scored 4 goals and both Katie Quinn and Monica Guyett scored 2 times as the North Stars topped R-B 9-2 on Thursday. Difiglio and Brittany Veto led the defense with 6 steals apiece, Claire Rich allowed just 2 goals and make 6 saves, and Veto also scored once in the win.

 

Stevenson 18 Lake Forest 3

Melissa Gartenberg scored 4 goals and Lauren Burns made 12 saves as the Patriots topped Lake Forest 18-3. Allison Travetto, Annika Hotchkiss, and Claire Haas each scored 3 goals while Autumn Hoang and Eileen Hoang each tallied 2 goals. Christina Spizzirri and Joanie Newland also scored once in the win for Stevenson. Madeleine Pompe scored 2 times, Abby Warren put in one goal and Jesse Bernhart made 7 saves in the loss for the Scouts.

 

Wheeling 11 Elk Grove 1

Theresa Godlewski totaled 6 goals and 13 steals to lead the Wildcats past Elk Grove 11-1 on Thursday night. Adrienne Rozmus scored 2 goals while Argelia Diaz, Jenna Pink and Juliana Isayeva each scored once. Elizabeth Wargo allowed just one goal and chipped in with 3 assists in the winning effort.
