FEATURED EVENT

NAPERVILLE CENTRAL TOURNAMENT

The preliminary round is complete at the 'Best of the West' Tournament in Naperville with the hosts (NC), the other hosts (NN) and Mundelein advancing to play for the event's title on Saturday.

 

The Redhawks got past Buffalo Grove and Hinsdale Central by double-digit margins, the Huskies did the same against Lake Forest and Glenbrook North, and Mundelein followed up a 4-4 draw with Glenbrook South by edging LWC in the nightcap to move to the title round.

 

GBN, HC, and LWC will play in the second group for fourth and BG, GBS and Lake Forest will do battle for seventh place on Saturday.

SANDBURG TOURNAMENT

Andrew 13 STC North 9

Eric Villasenor recorded 5 goals and Brett Hofer totaled 4 goals, 6 steals, and 4 assists as the T-Bolts beat the North Stars 13-9. Colin Hovorka and Mike Brennan combined to make 14 saves, Kyle Lynch scored 2 goals and both Dan Cavato and Nick Osty each tallied one goal in the win. Ryan Helfers notched 4 goals, Chris Stanek scored 2 times and Garrett Allamian made 9 saves in the loss. John Quinn, Jon Gallee and Nathan Bawolek each tallied one score as well for North.

Hoffman 10 Vernon Hills 9

Jacob Pasaye recorded 4 goals and Joey Smiley notched 2 scores as Hoffman beat Vernon Hills 10-9 to claim their first win of the 2015 campaign. Nikita Mikhaylov put in 4 goals and Peter Pranica recorded 2 goals in the loss for the Cougars.

 

Lyons 12 Palatine 3

George Lundgren netted 3 scores while Mike Zahorik, Nathan Henderson and Tommy Kaptur each put in 2 scores in the Lions' 12-3 triumph over Palatine. Adam Cardone, Sam Szczepaniak and Thomas Waters all scored one in the winning effort. Ryan Schlaiss scored 2 goals, Jacob Baran notched one score and Jake Conrad blocked 8 shots in the loss for the Pirates.

 

Northside 18 Mather 9

Sacramento Chavez poured in 11 goals and both Charlie Sell and Ryan Fadell each tallied 3 scores to lift the Mustangs over Mather 18-9.

 

Schaumburg 14 Maine South 7

Tyler Gustafson scored 7 goals, James Birriel registered 4 scores and Edin Latic made 12 saves to help the Saxons beat Maine South 14-7 in nonconference action. Jack Pyde added 2 scores and Frank Kovar scored once for the winners. Nick Calarco scored 4 goals and Dominic Pilolla scored 2 times in the loss.

Homewood-Flossmoor 10 Marian 6

Emily Mathews recorded 4 goals, Amber Barney netted 2 goals and Rebecca Tanner made 13 saves as the Vikings jumped out to a 6-0 lead en route to a 10-6 win over Marian. Eliza Sykes, Kalyn Wright, Kelly Morrissey and Susanna Reese all scored once in the win for H-F. Mae Van Beest tallied 3 scores, Diana Fernandez netted 2 goals and Killian McDonald scored once in the loss for the Spartans.

 

St Ignatius 8 Evanston 5

Diana Fernandez and Stephania Lopez each recorded 3 goals to lead the Wolfpack past Evanston 8-5 on Friday. Becca Schumm scored 3 times in the loss for the Wildkits.

 

New Trier 6 Lyons 5

The Trevians outlasted Lyons 6-5 on Friday evening in the third game of the St Ignatius Tourney at UIC. Emma Valdiserri put in 3 goals to lead New Trier to the win. Caroline Walsh scored 3 goals, Julia Cohen totaled 3 assists and a goal, and Erin Yang also scored once for LT. Jessie Wittenberg made 7 saves as well for the Lions.

 

Loyola 11 Waubonsie Valley 9

Emma Kyle scored 4 times and both Claire Voss and Siobhan Murphy each tallied 3 scores to help lift the Ramblers over Waubonsie Valley 11-9. Mary Kohl also scored once in the win for Loyola. Maria Campbell netted 3 goals, both Kelsey Meyer and Sarah Anderson scored 2 goals and Peyton Bode and Kimela Srey each notched one score in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Northside 11 Buffalo Grove 2

Marti Hale notched 6 scores and Morgan Nicholson put in 4 goals for the Mustangs as they beat BG 11-2 on Friday night. Jessi Graziano and Olivia Pontarelli each scored once in the loss for the Bison.

 

St Ignatius 9 New Trier 7

Diana Fernandez and Stephania Lopez both scored 3 goals and Tara White put in 2 scores as SICP topped New Trier 9-7 on Friday evening. White's goal in the final minute of the third period held up as the game winner for the Wolfpack. Emma Valdiserri and Lauren Barrett each recorded 2 goals in the loss for the Trevians.

JENISON TOURNAMENT

Naperville Central 6 Jenison 4

Kaela Codo tallied 4 scores and Sara Campbell blocked 9 shots as the Redhawks earned a 6-4 win over the hosts to start their weekend at the Jenison Tournament.

 

Naperville Central 8 Rockford 6

Kaela Codo scored the game-tying and game-winning goals for the Redhawks as they overcame a fourth quarter deficit to beat Rockford 8-6 on Friday. Jennifer Oliver added a goal in the final minute to put the game away as Central improved to 2-0 at the event. Codo led the defense with 5 steals while Alli Hansen made 3 steals and Emily Westlove totaled 3 steals and drew 3 ejections.
