GAME PREVIEWS (Friday, April 20)

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Brother Rice Tournament
The Crusaders welcome seven other teams to their annual fiesta; #3 Loyola, #4 Latin, and #6 Sandburg are the the favorites in the event, with the Ramblers and Romans in the same group and potentially the top seeds that would be matched up if both qualify for state. They play in the opening round here! Also in the mix are #15 Lockport, #21 Hinsdale Central, St Patrick, St Rita, and the thirteenth-ranked hosts in what should be an ultra-competitive event throughout.

KEEP AN EYE ON:

GBS Tournament

#5 Naperville North plays the role as favorites heading into the GBS Tournament, but they'll have plenty of fierce competition from the hosts, Evanston, Hersey, Lake Forest, New Trier, Libertyville, Palatine, and Prospect over the weekend.

McHenry at Wheeling
The Warriors travel to Wheeling to take on a Wildcats' team that would like nothing better than to send a message to one of the top seeds in the Palatine Sectional that they are for real.

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Stevenson Tournament
The Patriots welcome several of the top teams from both Illinois and Michigan to their annual Week 7 event. #4 Fenwick, #5 Mother McAuley, #7 Stevenson, #15 Bremen, and #16 Mundelein are joined by Michigan's #1 Rockford, #2 Okemos, and #10 East Grand Rapids in a Friday and Saturday affair.

KEEP AN EYE ON:

St Ignatius Tournament
#6 Ignatius hosts an elite eight-team event that brings in several top teams like #2 Lyons, #8 H-F, #9 New Trier, #12 Loyola, #22 Buffalo Grove, Marian, and Waubonsie Valley.

NC Tournament
The top-ranked Redhawks host a four-team round-robin featuring Michigan's ninth-ranked team, Jenison, along with #13 Sandburg and Evanston.

Bremen at Fremd
The Red Jaguars take on a massive nonconference warm-up to Saturday's Stevenson Tournament when they travel to Palatine to take on the third-ranked Vikings. Fremd will be looking to add one more high-quality win to their resume heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
