STEVENSON TOURNAMENT

Illinois Teams Finish Tourney With 11-4 Record Against Michigan Teams

Fenwick and Mother McAuley both finished the Stevenson Tournament with perfect records, beating several of the top Michigan teams (EGR, Okemos, Rockford) in the process. Bremen and Mundelein also went 2-1 against the out-of-state visitors, while Stevenson won the tournament opener over EGR but lost two games on Saturday to Okemos and Rockford. In the two late games, the Mighty Macs beat Mundelein and Stevenson topped Bremen in normal, in-state contests. Below are ALL the game recaps and stats:


Friday's Game Recaps

Stevenson 4 East Grand Rapids 2

Cami Haas scored 4 goals and Alex Kanaris chipped in with one score as Stevenson held off EGR 4-2.

 

Okemos 11 Mundelein 3

Katie Dudley scored 4 times and Emily Wozena and Rachel Weisend each tallied 2 scores to lift Okemos past Mundelein 11-3. Karrie Kozokar notched 2 scores in the losing effort for the Mustangs.

 

Fenwick 8 Rockford 3

Alexa Ovalle, Cara Borkovec, and Colleen Barron each tallied 2 scores in the Friars' 8-3 triumph over Rockford. Adrianna Craft, Maddie Levine, and Morgan Longberg each scored once for the Rams.

 

Mother McAuley 11 East Grand Rapids 3

Clare Bryar and Vicky Arciniega both recorded 3 scores and Amy Kopale netted 2 goals in the Mighty Macs' 11-3 victory over EGR. Claire Heinzmann scored 3 times in the loss for the Pioneers.

 

Okemos 8 Stevenson 4

Katie Dudley registered 4 scores and Emily Laub netted 2 goals as Okemos beat Stevenson 8-4. Erin McCook led the Patriots with 3 scores in the losing effort.


Saturday's Game Recaps

Mundelein 9 Rockford 8

Karrie Kozokar netted 5 goals to lead the Mustangs to a 9-8 win over Rockford on early Saturday.

Adrianna Craft led the Rams with 3 scores in the losing effort.

 

Bremen 8 EGR 2

Emma Martinus tallied 4 scores and Hannah Schultz chipped in with 2 scores as Bremen started their tournament run with an 8-2 victory over East Grand Rapids. Lauren Stryzek totaled 9 steals and goalie Melissa Barrios blocked 9 shots in the win. Claire Heinzmann nicked a goal in the loss for the Pioneers.

 

Fenwick 6 Okemos 4

Maureen Barron scored 3 times and Alexa Ovalle connected with 2 shots as Fenwick held off Okemos 6-4 on Saturday. Emily Laub, Emily Wozena, and Katie Dudley each scored once in the losing effort.

 

Mother McAuley 3 Rockford 2

Amy Kopale notched 2 scores and Clare Bryar scored the other as Mother McAuley held off Rockford 3-2 in a low-scoring affair.

 

Bremen 6 Okemos 5 (OT)

Hannah Schultz recorded 5 goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as Bremen held off Okemos 6-5. Katie Dudley scored 4 times in the loss for the Chiefs.

 

Fenwick 12 EGR 4

Cara Borkovec put in 3 scores and both Haley Wickham and Maureen Barron netted 2 scores as the Friars defeated EGR 12-4.

 

Rockford 9 Stevenson 3

Adrianna Craft scored 3 times to lead Rockford past Stevenson 9-3. Cami Haas led the Patriots with 2 goals in the loss.

 

Mother McAuley 6 Okemos 5 (OT)

Clare Bryar scored 2 goals and Adrianna Izquierdo, Amy Kopale, MaryJune O'Connell, and Vicky Arciniega each tallied one score in McAuley's 6-5 triumph over Okemos.

 

Mundelein 8 EGR 2

Alyssa Garcia and Karrie Kozokar both recorded 2 scores as Mundelein earned an 8-2 win over EGR.

 

Rockford 13 Bremen 7

Adrianna Craft poured in 8 goals to lift Rockford past Bremen 13-7. Nora Plank scored 3 times and Emma Martinus added 2 scores in the losing effort for the Red Jaguars.

 

Mother McAuley 12 Mundelein 5

Vicky Arciniega registered 4 scores, Kristen Kleist netted 3 goals, and Amy Kopale added 2 goals in the Mighty Macs' 12-5 victory over Mundelein.

 

Stevenson 12 Bremen 4

Erin McCook scored 5 goals and both Alex Kanaris and Cami Haas chipped in with 2 goals to help the Patriots end the weekend with a 12-4 win over Bremen.
