Conant Shuts Down Neuqua To Win Own Tournament

Conant bounced back from a loss to Libertyville to beat Neuqua Valley 11-3 to claim the title at their own event on Saturday afternoon. All three teams finished with 3-1 records, but the emphatic victory in the final game of the weekend helped the Cougars win the tournament based on a tiebreaker. The Wildcats (of Libertyville) ended up in second place, while Neuqua dropped to third place after giving up the most goals in the final round. Check below for complete recaps and other information:

Twelve different players notched goals for the Cougars in their tournament-opening 16-4 win over StV.

Libertyville 15 Buffalo Grove 6

Tommy Keefe recorded 6 goals to help lead Libertyville past Buffalo Grove in the tournament opener for both teams. Ian Rodriguez netted 3 scores in the losing effort for the Bison.

St Viator 12 Maine West 8

The Lions won their first game of the 2012 season on Friday evening, outlasting Maine West 12-8.

Buffalo Grove 9 Lane 1

Ian Rodriguez notched 4 scores as the Bison defeated Lane 9-1 on Friday.

Conant 14 Maine West 6

The Cougars advanced to the championship round of their own tournament after ten players registered goals in a 14-6 win over Maine West. Mitch Isaacs led the way for the hosts with 2 scores. AJ Unander tallied 3 goals in the loss for the Warriors.

Libertyville 6 Lane 5

Adam King connected on a last-second shot to send Libertyville to the championship round after a 6-5 victory over Lane.

Drew Dvorchak scored 3 times and Robert Vechiola added 2 scores in the Wildcats' 12-2 win over NSP.

Buffalo Grove 13 St Viator 3

Ian Rodriguez notched 3 scores as the Bison knocked off St Viator 13-3.

Lincoln-Way North 12 Northside 0

Kyle Mohan scored 3 goals and Mike Doyle earned a shutout as LWN beat Northside 12-0.

Libertyville 4 Conant 3

Tommy Keefe recorded 2 goals to help lead Libertyville past Conant 4-3 in the championship round of the Conant Tournament on Saturday. Jason Brushaber led the Cougars with 2 scores in the loss.

Lane 9 Northside 9

In a battle of Chicago Public League teams, Lane and Northside finished in a 9-9 draw. Michal Rajski led all scorers with 4 goals for the Mustangs.

Lincoln-Way North 10 Buffalo Grove 6

Jake Roberts and Curtis Thrun each scored 3 times as the Phoenix downed BG 10-6. Ian Rodriguez totaled 3 scores in the loss for the Bison.

Neuqua Valley 9 Libertyville 6

Kevin Patterson notched 4 scores to lead Neuqua Valley to a 9-6 victory over Libertyville. Tommy Keefe registered 3 scores in the loss for the Wildcats.
