GAME RECAPS (Monday, April 23)
 

BOYS

Curie 24 Lane 6

Marcos Hernandez registered 8 goals, Ramiro Almarez notched 4 scores, and Daniel Pantoja blocked 9 shots as Curie got past Lane 24-6 on Monday.

 

Fremd 13 Mundelein 6

JP French tallied 4 scores and Ryan Helsdingen added 3 goals as Fremd got past Mundelein 13-6. Jason Rehor scored 4 times and Jakub Sierzputowski totaled 9 saves and 4 steals in the losing effort.

 

Glenbrook South 13 St Patrick 10 (OT)

JJ Connor scored 7 times, Danny Correa netted 3 scores, and Tom Meyer blocked 20 shots as the Titans outlasted St Patrick 13-10 in overtime. Jon Gutierrez led the Shamrocks with 3 goals.

 

Neuqua Valley 10 York 5

Kevin Paterson totaled 5 goals and 11 saves in Neuqua's 10-5 victory over York. Robert Vechiola and Will Russell each tallied 3 scores in the win for the Wildcats.

 

St Ignatius 11 Andrew 8

Jamie Juarez totaled 4 scores and both Brayden Amendola and Billy Barth scored 2 times to help the Wolfpack defeat Andrew 11-8.

 

Taft 16 Steinmetz 11

Rolando Cantu netted 4 scores and both Jaime Riano and Michael Lazalde tallied 3 goals as Taft upended Steinmetz 16-11 on Monday evening. Christian Huerta and David Conola combined to score 10 goals in the loss for Steinmetz.

 


 

GIRLS

Barrington 18 Vernon Hills 10

Kate Luedtke set the school record for goals scored in a single game as she poured in 9 scores to help the Fillies knock off Vernon Hills 18-10. Sam Gavars also scored 5 times and Brooke Fanslow made 8 saves in the Barrington win. Dana Andrea tallied 5 scores in the loss for the Cougars.

 

Fenwick 13 Mundelein 7

Colleen Barron scored 4 goals and Alexa Ovalle and Cara Borkovec each tallied 3 scores as the Friars topped Mundelein 13-7 on Monday. Mackenzie Bonk also made 10 saves in the Fenwick victory. Allie Booth and Karrie Kozokar each netted 2 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Hersey 12 Meadows 2

Stefanie Kintzle registered 4 scores to lead Hersey past Meadows 12-2. Jessica Dykstra recorded both goals in the losing cause for the Mustangs.

 

Hinsdale Central 8 Oak Park 6

Sarah Pircon notched 4 scores in the Red Devils' 8-6 triumph over Oak Park.

 

Maine East 18 Elk Grove 5

Maria Protic recorded 7 goals and Eliza Mazgaj and Medina Husejnovic each put in 4 scores to help Maine East's beat Elk Grove 18-5. Isabelle Trier also made 14 saves in the Blue Demons' victory.

 

Naperville Central 12 Mother McAuley 3

Emily Sejna and Madison Nervig each scored 3 times and Julia Campbell recorded 12 saves as Central jumped out to a 10-1 advantage by the third quarter en route to a 12-3 victory over Mother McAuley. Erin Reagan added 2 scores in the win for the Redhawks. Adrianna Izquierdo, Clare Bryar, and Kristen Kleist each scored once and Sarah Abbott made 12 saves in the losing effort for the Mighty Macs.

 

Neuqua Valley 10 York 5

Brooke Bedford and Courtney Taylor each scored 3 times as Neuqua Valley pulled away from York in the second half to earn a 10-5 nonconference win on Monday night. Ann-Kathrin Becker and Deanna Hoff both added 2 scores in the Wildcats' win.

 

Schaumburg 16 STC East 4

Rachel Fish scored 5 times, Kristy Bessler netted 4 scores, and Ashley Johnson scored 3 goals in the Saxons' 16-4 victory over STC East. Casey Houts added 2 goals and Katrina Vargo blocked 14 shots in the win for Schaumburg.

 

Wheeling 11 Prospect 6

Leah Malsom recorded 5 goals and Heather Murphy chipped in with 4 scores as Wheeling beat Prospect 11-6 to finish their MSL East campaign with a perfect record (10-0). Jessica Cavaiani led the Knights with 4 scores in the loss.

Hinsdale Central at Oak Park

A much-improved Hinsdale Central squad looks to outduel OPRF for second place in the West Suburban Conference when the two teams meet on Monday night.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

York at Neuqua Valley

The Dukes look to continue their turnaround in 2012 when they travel to Naperville to take on Neuqua Valley, a team that could use a solid nonconference win as they gear up for the postseason.

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Mother McAuley at Naperville Central

Another battle of top five teams kicks off the Week 8 schedule, with #5 Mother McAuley heading west to take on #3 Naperville Central in a 6:00pm contest.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Buffalo Grove at Libertyville

Two evenly matched squads meet in a contest that will serve as a preview of their first-round encounter in next month's Palatine Sectional.
