TOURNAMENT RECAP

 

Preview
The boys' half of the Stevenson Tournament gets underway early on Saturday morning with a rematch between the hosts and Naperville Central (the Patriots won last weekend's meeting 10-8). Joining the fray soon after are both Lincoln-Way Central and Neuqua Valley for a grand total of six games that go well into the late afternoon.

STEVENSON TOURNAMENT
Stevenson 14 Lincoln-Way Central 6

Mitchell Sokolsky racked up 6 goals and both Kurt Holzer and Zach Stephens scored 2 goals as the hosts topped LWC 14-6. Alex Divanyan, Alex Kapecki, Liam Holzer, and Luke Gable-Preze each added a goal in the win for the Patriots. Ryan Sterling scored 3 goals and Pat Burke put in 2 goals in the loss for Central.

 

Neuqua Valley 9 Lincoln-Way Central 7

Ian Ivkovich and Simon Shatinsky both scored 3 goals and John Hedderman made 8 saves as Neuqua defeated LWC 9-7. Scott DePuy added 2 goals, Jon Dusenberry scored once, and Joey Dalesandro made 7 steals and added 4 assists in the winning effort. Tim Stygar notched 3 scores and Kyle Forsythe, Conor McGowan, Pat Burke, and Ryan Sterling each scored once for the Knights.

 

Naperville Central 11 Lincoln-Way Central 3

Joe Bigenwald scored 5 goals in the opening period and Christian May netted 3 scores to help Naperville Central get past LWC 11-3.

 

Naperville Central 9 Stevenson 8

Zach Stephens' lob attempt hit the crossbar with five seconds left and the Redhawks hung on for a 9-8 win over Stevenson. Stephens had just cut the lead to one with a penalty shot, but he just missed on the equalizing goal after the Patriots' forced a turnover. Kyle Jackson scored a key goal with less than two minutes left to give Central a 9-7 lead before the hosts nearly mounted a late-game comeback. Statistics coming soon.

 

Naperville Central 11 Neuqua Valley 10

Christian May, Connor Lamb, Joe Bigenwald, and Ryan Donahue each scored 2 goals as the Redhawks fended off Neuqua Valley 11-10. Joey Dalesandro and Scott DePuy both notched 3 scores and Simon Shatinsky scored 2 times in the loss for the Wildcats. Lucas Becker and Jon Dusenberry each put in one goal and Austin Mollway blocked 9 shots as well for Neuqua Valley.

 

Stevenson 11 Neuqua Valley 8

Zach Stephens scored 3 goals and both Michael Taiberg and Mitchell Sokolsky scored 2 times to help the Patriots beat Neuqua Valley 11-8. Simon Shatinsky scored 4 goals, Scott DePuy put in 3 goals, and Joey Dalesandro totaled one goal and 6 steals in the loss for the Wildcats.
