2016 SECTIONALS
More than 150 boys and girls teams will begin their quest for a chance to advance to the state tournament, starting with the sectional play-in games on May 9 & 10.

 

The boys' quarterfinal action starts on May 11, followed by the girls' quarterfinal games on May 12. The sectional semifinals are played on May 13, with the sectional final games all taking place on Saturday, May 14.

Links to every sectional site are provided below. These will be updated continuously with schedules, game times, and scores/recaps throughout the week of sectionals. At the end of the week, we will have Sectional Ballers and the All-Sectional Teams (as soon as they are submitted to us from each sectional site).

Stevenson 22 Lake Forest 7

Alex Kapecki notched 4 scores and the trio of Andrew Shashin, Collin Kapecki and Justin Ginsberg each scored 3 goals as the Patriots earned a 22-7 victory over Lake Forest. Thomas Condon led the Scouts with 4 scores in the loss.

 

McHenry 15 Palatine 13

Jackson Smith and Kevin Braun both scored 6 goals to lead the Warriors to a 15-13 victory over Palatine. Ivan Turkan scored 6 goals and Jake Conrad stopped 17 shots in the losing effort.

 

Mundelein 19 Libertyville 4

Matt Schaedel recorded 7 goals and Mike Ward tallied 5 scores in the Mustangs' 19-4 win over Libertyville. Billy Becker and Jacob Lex each netted 2 goals in the loss.

 

Wheeling 10 Buffalo Grove 6

Nate Reiff scored 5 times and Jake Noel scored 4 goals as the Wildcats closed out the game with a 4-0 run after the teams entered the final period tied at 6-6. Brandon Monsen scored 2 goals in the loss for BG.

 

 

Fremd 25 Schaumburg 4

Dylan Assmann scored 7 times, Robert DePau tallied 6 goals and Alex Nicholas scored 5 goals as Fremd knocked off Schaumburg 25-4. Zak Keper made 5 saves in the winning effort.

 

Prospect 16 St Viator 4

Isaac Ginnodo recorded 5 goals to lead the Knights past St Viator 16-4. Alex Morikado and Matt Inserra both added 3 scores in the win for Prospect.

 

Barrington 17 Elk Grove 9

The Broncos moved on to the quarterfinal round after beating Elk Grove 17-9. John Fischer, Mitch Gavars and Tom Derken each scored 4 goals in the winning effort for the defending sectional champions. David Dragne recorded 5 goals, Adam Doruff scored 2 times and Cory Hicks blocked 10 shots in the loss for the Grenadiers.

 

Conant 13 Meadows 2

Braden LaMore scored 8 goals and Harris Dibek blocked 10 shots and 2 penalty attempts as the Cougars beat Meadows 13-2. Alec Burke also scored 2 goals in the win for Conant. Charlie Borta made 11 saves in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

 

New Trier 18 Maine West 6

Danilo Scekic recorded 4 goals while Henry Yavitt, Michael Krueger and Sam Yavitt each scored 2 times as the Trevians defeated Maine West 18-6.

 

Niles West 22 Evanston 6

Won Lee poured in 7 goals and Lucas Brace totaled 3 goals and 5 steals in the Wolves' 22-6 triumph over Evanston. Simon Villegas also recorded 2 goals, 6 assists and 5 steals in the win.

 

Glenbrook South 14 Maine South 1

Brendan Chang and Tommy Hagerty both notched 3 scores and Brian Johnson made 13 saves in three scoreless quarters to help the Titans get past Maine South 14-1.

 

Loyola 15 Glenbrook North 5

Michael Considine registered 4 scores and Chris Jovanovich, Larkin Flanagan, Max Ashurst and Charlie Freedman each scored 2 times in the Ramblers' 15-5 victory over GBN.

Sandburg 12 Bremen 5

The top-seeded Eagles advanced to the semifinal round after beating Bremen 12-5. Michael Feeley and Kevin Duffy both scored 2 goals, Steve Stronach scored once and Chris Valladares made 15 saves in the losing effort.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 12 Homewood-Flossmoor 4

The Knights began their sectional title defense by bouncing back from an early 2-1 deficit to earn a 12-4 victory over H-F. Stats for the winners coming soon. Luke Santefort recorded 7 saves and 6 steals while Joseph Humphrey, John Weeks, Henry Kreis and Travis Tanner each scored once in the loss.

 

 

 

Naperville Central 19 Stagg 5

Kyle Jackson and Nick Walker each scored 4 goals and Eric Stablein notched 3 scores as the Redhawks earned a 19-5 win over Stagg. Bender Russo and Lucas Nervig both added 2 goals and Kent Emden made 16 saves for the winners. Tommy Witek scored 3 times in the loss for the Chargers.

 

Naperville North 18 STC East 9

Matt Magee totaled 5 goals, Jon Jon Pettinger scored 4 goals and both Brian Lapham and Cole Jacobs put in 3 goals in the Huskies' 18-9 win over STC East. Drew Jacobson, Nick Ziller and Reilly McDonnell each added one score for the victors.

 

 

St Ignatius 11 Latin 4

Andreas Christy, Gus Enger and Shane Hughes each scored 2 goals and Luke Rothschild and Sam Enger combined to make 10 saves as the Wolfpack beat Latin 11-4. Jackson Tanner tallied 3 scores and Sam Orlin scored once in the loss for the Romans.

 

Von Steuben 14 Lane 13 (OT)

Chris Iza recorded the game-winner in overtime as the Panthers outlasted Lane 14-13 on Wednesday. Ethan Hamp scored 7 goals and Haydon Peterson scored 3 times in the win. Mark Gullickson scored 4 goals and Max Boettcher put in 3 goals in the loss.

 

Whitney Young 14 Mt Carmel 6

Duncan McDonald registered 6 goals, Benjamin Liu notched 3 scores and Josh Escasa scored 2 times in the Dolphins' 14-6 win over Mt Carmel. Jacob Williams scored 5 times in the loss for the Caravan.

 

 

York 20 Taft 2

Tim Evely recorded 7 goals to lead the Dukes past Taft 20-2. Nik Miklyukh also scored 3 times and both Jordan Jopes and Parker Hicks scored 2 goals in the victory.

 

St Patrick 9 Curie 8

John Sandman scored the game-winning goal with nine seconds left in regulation to help the Shamrocks overcome an 8-6 deficit as they secured a 9-8 victory over Curie. Joe Gibson led St Patrick with 3 scores, Nathan Deluna scored 2 times and Eric Arroyo stopped 15 shots in the win. Omar Pantoja netted 4 scores in the loss for the Condors.

 

Fenwick 21 Riverside-Brookfield 0

Conor Hendzel totaled 5 goals and both Chez Daggs and Kyle Poland scored 3 goals as the Friars shutout R-B 21-0.

 

Oak Park 14 Morton 4

Leo Manola tallied 4 scores, Lawrence Cozzi scored 3 times and both Daniel Franklin and Jordan Mann put in 2 goals in the Huskies' 14-4 win over Morton.
