2016 SECTIONALS
More than 150 boys and girls teams will begin their quest for a chance to advance to the state tournament, starting with the sectional play-in games on May 9 & 10.

 

The boys' quarterfinal action starts on May 11, followed by the girls' quarterfinal games on May 12. The sectional semifinals are played on May 13, with the sectional final games all taking place on Saturday, May 14.

Links to every sectional site are provided below. These will be updated continuously with schedules, game times, and scores/recaps throughout the week of sectionals. At the end of the week, we will have Sectional Ballers and the All-Sectional Teams (as soon as they are submitted to us from each sectional site).

Stevenson 20 Buffalo Grove 5

Allison Travetto scored 8 goals and Claire Haas notched 3 scores in the Patriots' 20-5 win over BG. Dasha Yermol and Kate Godley both scored 2 times and Lauren Komrska scored once in the loss for the Bison.

 

Palatine 4 Mundelein 2

Jasmina Mesic recorded 2 goals and Tess O'Brien made 15 saves as the Pirates held off Mundelein 4-2. Kristin Anderson and Mathilde Mogensen each added one goal in the winning effort. Abbie Lukas scored 2 times in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Highland Park 6 Deerfield 2

Emma Gelberg, Danni Cole and Natalie Gelberg each scored 2 goals and Abbey Hodges blocked 24 shots and did not allow a second half goal as the Lady Giants fended off Deerfield 6-2. Katherine Rogers and Nomi Willis each scored once in the loss.

 

Libertyville 8 Lake Forest 7 (OT)
Jess Lanty registered 3 scores and Grace Hurley put in 2 goals as the Wildcats outlasted Lake Forest 8-7 in an overtime thriller. Emma Yonan and Hannah Mendralla both added one score and Maddie Bollinger stopped 11 shots in the victory. Grace Donahue scored 6 goals and Alyssa Hollander scored once in the loss for the Scouts.

 

 

Schaumburg 12 Schaumburg 5

Sarah Coombes recorded 5 goals, Becca Rutkowski scored 3 times and Karolina Urban netted 2 scores as the Vikings defeated Schaumburg 12-5. Becca Kasner registered 3 goals while Hannah Pearson and Sidney Rosenblum each scored once in the loss.

 

Meadows 6 Prospect 5

Sara Luedloff scored the game-winning goal to send Meadows past Prospect 6-5.

 

Barrington 12 Elk Grove 2

Mia Latimer recorded 4 goals, Andrea Potgieter netted 3 scores and Ellie Connors blocked 8 shots in the Fillies' 12-2 triumph over Elk Grove. Isabella Rojas and Heidi Pallan both added 2 scores in the win. Lilly Lawrin scored both goals for the Grenadiers' offense while Jessica Deering made 6 saves in the loss.

 

Conant 12 Hersey 4

Sam Wooley and Paulina Chowaniec each netted 4 goals and Hannah Lukas scored 2 times as Conant got past Hersey 12-4. Aly Wooley and Amy Rodriguez also scored once in the win. Cam Rosas sealed the victory for the Cougars with 18 saves while Nia Tsoulos also drew 3 ejections. Madison Burkhalter scored 2 goals in the loss for the Huskies.

 

 

New Trier 16 Glenbrook North 5

Lauren Barrett recorded 5 goals to lead the Trevians past GBN 16-5.

 

Maine West 9 Glenbrook South 6

Kristen Burger registered 4 goals to help lift the Warriors over GBS 9-6. Gaby Fragale added 3 scores while Annie Picchiotti and Julia Boesche both netted one score in the victory. Kelly Klish tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Titans.

 

Evanston 13 Maine South 0

Riley Hughes scored 4 goals and Olivia Everhart made 10 saves, scored once from her own end and set an IHSA record with her sixth shutout of the season as the Wildkits blanked Maine South 13-0.

 

Loyola 13 Niles West 3

Claire Voss notched 3 goals as the Ramblers defeated Niles West 13-3. Lauren Patt netted 2 goals in the loss for the Wolves.

Lincoln-Way North 13 Andrew 1

Cassidy Degraff scored 4 goals and Mia Sterchele made 11 saves as the Phoenix earned a 13-2 victory over Andrew. Cailey Pietrzyk and Jessica Gomez each scored once in the losing effort.

 

Sandburg 7 Lincoln-Way Central 6

The Eagles held the Knights scoreless in the final period to walk away with a 7-6 win over the defending sectional champions. Cailey Davern and Erin Muellerschoen each scored 2 goals while Kim Bernhard and Nikki Howe both tallied one score in the loss.

 

Bremen 16 Bradley 5

Jillian Schultz totaled 7 goals and 5 assists while Andie Stonach made 7 saves in the Red Jaguars' 16-5 win over Bradley. Elizabeth Minnich added 3 scores and Brittany Lira put in 2 goals in the winning effort.

 

Lincoln-Way East 13 Homewood-Flossmoor 7

Nicole McCabe recorded 4 goals, Abby Olivieri netted 3 goals and Claire Connors stopped 13 shots in the Griffins' 13-7 win over H-F. Caroline Heathcock and Teresa DiGiovanni both added 2 goals while Julia Esparza and Mia DeTella each scored once for the victors. Emily Mathews scored 3 times in the loss for the Vikings.

 

 

Mother McAuley 19 Washington 3

Chloe Ryan and Maggie Hennigan each scored 3 goals, Claire Mueller and MaryGrace Golon each notched 2 scores and the trio of Devin Flaherty, Geena Peyton and MaryKate McKendry made 14 saves to help the Mighty Macs beat Washington 19-3.

 

Lyons 17 Lindblom 0

Kaysie Stuba and Maddie Cordell each scored 2 goals and Madie Janik made 8 saves in the Lions' 17-0 shutout victory over Lindblom.

 

 

Naperville Central 17 Lockport 1

Emily Westlove and Kaela Codo both scored 3 goals and Faith Vandercar stopped 12 shots as Central got past Lockport 17-1. Abbey Rosenstiel, Angie Benton, Caroline Aemmer and Jennifer Oliver each added 2 goals while Jodie Nelson notched her first varsity goal and Sara Campbell made 4 saves in the win.

 

STC North 5 Waubonsie Valley 4

Bethann Ellingson, Brittany Veto, Emmy Feddor, Monica Guyett and Sarah Gibson each scored once and Claire Rich made 12 saves as the North Stars held off Waubonsie Valley 5-4.

 

Neuqua Valley 9 Metea Valley 4

Zoe Salafatinos recorded 5 goals and Issi French stopped 21 shots in the Wildcats' 9-4 win over Metea Valley. Amy Blencowe, Catherine Carroll, Gabby Koopmann and Heather Sterchele each added one score for the winners.

 

 

St Ignatius 9 Lincoln Park 1

Diana Fernandez scored 3 goals and six other players filled up the scoresheet while Jenny Stelnicki made 12 saves as the Wolfpack earned a 9-1 win over Lincoln Park. Brianna Gist, Danika Chavez, Emma Dolan, Ellie Boyle, Stephania Lopez and Tara White each scored once for the winners.

 

Young 10 DLS 9

Lauren Williamson connected on the game-winning goal with :37 left in regulation to send the Dolphins past DLS 10-9. Sarah Engemann recorded 6 goals to lead the Young offense. Leticia Bradsfield and Leslie Garfias each scored 3 goals and Jasmine Debo put in 2 scores in the loss for the Condors.

 

Lane 16 Latin 4

Jazmin Garcia scored 6 goals and Anne Puralewski netted 5 scores in the Indians' 16-4 win over Latin.

 

Jones-Payton 5 Northside 3

Meredith Lohman recorded 3 goals and Lindsay Opie scored 2 times as the Lady Eagles knocked off Northside 5-3. Lena Spear scored 2 goals and Heather Walker tallied one goal in the losing effort.

 

 

Oak Park 16 Westinghouse 0

Addie Steward-Nolan, Genevieve Curry, Kathryn Raeder and Nell Behr each scored 2 goals and Kaitlyn Peterson earned a shutout as OPRF beat Westinghouse 16-0.

 

Riverside-Brookfield 12 Morton 9

Hannah Flynn recorded 4 goals to help the Bulldogs get past Morton 12-9. Jenny Ascencion scored 4 times in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Fenwick 16 Resurrection 5

Maddie Nettleton scored 3 goals and Catie Wallace, Kelly Frumkin, Millie Sheean and Molly McGuire each scored 2 times in the Friars' 16-5 win over Resurrection.

 

York 13 Taft 0

Isabelle Gil tallied 3 scores while Carli York and Marissa Logan both scored 2 goals as the Dukes shutout Taft 13-0.
