TOURNAMENT REPORT

 

Preview

The Patriots welcome Lyons, Palatine and Wheeling for a blockbuster six-game tournament that starts on Saturday morning. The hosts emerged victorious from all three of their games last season to win the title, but they should be in for quite a fight when this year's proceedings get underway.

Game Recaps

Stevenson 23 Palatine 2

Allison Travetto scored 6 goals to help lead Stevenson past Palatine 23-2 in the tournament opener on Saturday morning. Mathilde Mogensen scored 2 goals and Tess O'Brien made 8 saves in the loss.

 

Lyons 15 Wheeling 3

Maddie Cordell tallied 4 scores, Victoria Guevera totaled 2 goals and 3 assists, and Kaysie Stuba scored 2 goals in the Lions' 15-3 win over Wheeling. Annika Moore, Claudia Lundgren, Elisa Jaramillo, Greta Markey, Madie Janik, Megan Kotil and Olivia Land rounded out the scoring with one goal each for LT. Argelia Diaz netted all 3 goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Lyons 5 Palatine 2

Maddie Cordell scored 2 times, Kaysie Stuba scored once and made 5 steals and Madie Janik blocked 2 penalties as Lyons fended off Palatine 5-2. Annika Moore and Victoria Guevara each scored once as well for the Lions. Kelsey Hank and Tess O'Brien each scored one goal while O'Brien teamed up with Megan Woell to make 11 saves.

 

Stevenson 17 Wheeling 3

Allison Travetto scored 5 goals while Claire Haas, Eileen Hoang, Fiona Gaffney and Tanya Shkiler each scored 2 goals in Stevenson's 17-3 win over Wheeling. Argelia Diaz scored 2 times and Holly Schroeder added a goal in the loss.

 

Palatine 10 Wheeling 5

Mathilde Mogensen registered 5 goals and Megan Woell made 5 saves in the Pirates' 10-5 victory over Wheeling. Ashley Helminski, Jasmina Mesic, Kiki Herbst and Kaitlin Kurrie each scored once in the winning effort. Holly Schroeder registered 3 goals and Argelia Diaz netted 2 goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Stevenson 9 Lyons 8

The defending champions finished the weekend with a 3-0 record after holding off Lyons 9-8. Allison Travetto and Fiona Gaffney each scored key goals in the fourth quarter to help the hosts secure the win. Travetto and Claire Haas each scored 4 goals in the winning effort. Kaysie Stuba scored 4 goals, Anikka Moore totaled 2 goals and 3 assists while Maddie Cordell also added 2 goals for the Lions.
