GAME RECAPS (Monday, April 2)
 

BOYS

Fenwick 19 St Ignatius 4

Dan Kelly and Matt Farmer each scored 4 goals and Viken Huening added 2 goals and 4 assists as the defending champs remained perfect after a 19-4 victory over St Ignatius. Rich Mueller and Tom Osmolak each added 2 scores, while Tommy McGuire blocked 13 shots in the Friars' win. The Wolfpack's Jesus Juarez scored 2 times in the losing effort.

 

Loyola 21 St Rita 6

Danny Stauder totaled 5 scores, Brendan Hulseman notched 4 scores, and Robbie O'Connor denied 14 shots as Loyola upended St Rita 21-6 in Catholic League play. Mike Hernandez scored 3 times in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Wheeling 14 Prospect 4

Austin Ihde tallied 6 scores and Zach Edelstein chipped in with 3 goals as the Wildcats downed Prospect 14-4 on Monday night. Dan Shriber added 2 scores in the victory for Wheeling.

 

Sandburg 13 Lockport 12

Matt Veldman scored 6 times, Kevin Tunney added 4 scores, and Mike Malecki blocked 9 shots, including a block in the closing seconds of regulation as Sandburg held off Lockport 13-12 to stay undefeated in 2012.

 

Stagg 12 Andrew 8

Juan Valdez recorded 6 goals to lead the Chargers past Andrew 12-8.

 

GIRLS

Andrew 16 Stagg 8

Annamarie Lettiere poured in 6 goals and Fran Gilberto added 3 scores as the T-Bolts defeated Stagg by a 16-8 margin on Monday. Lindsey Tamulonis totaled 2 goals and 8 steals for Andrew, while goalie Anna Tamulonis saved 17 shots in the winning effort. Liz Hadhazy scored 7 times in the loss for the Chargers.

 

Conant 10 Hinsdale Central 5

Andie Cobb scored 4 goals and Angie Skittone added 3 scores to help lead Conant past Hinsdale Central 10-5 in nonconference action. Kristi Burke also scored 2 times and Jessica Davis saved 21 shots in the Cougars' victory.

 

Fenwick 12 St Ignatius 9

Haley Wickham totaled 6 goals to help keep Fenwick perfect in the Catholic League after a 12-9 win over St Ignatius.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 10 Lincoln-Way East 8

Rebecca Mathews scored 5 goals to help the Vikings edge the Griffins 10-8 on Monday night. Emily Koss and Zoe McCabe combined to score 7 times in the loss for East.

 

Lincoln-Way North 21 Lincoln-Way West 10

Keriann Clarin and Megan Wortel teamed up to score 5 goals as the Phoenix improved to 8-2 by beating LWW 21-10.

 

Sandburg 11 Lockport 10

Jamie Pappanastos and Tara Capouch combined to score 7 goals as Sandburg held off Lockport 11-10 on Monday. Christine Bafia and Megan Cavanaugh each scored 4 goals and Liz Latka added 2 scores in the losing effort for the Porters.

 

Vernon Hills 8 Maine West 2

Anna Lebiedzinksi recorded 7 goals and Dana Andrea blocked 13 shots as the Cougars defeated Maine West 8-2 on Monday evening. Tara Woodford made 22 saves in the loss for the Warriors.

The Wolfpack (5-10) are finally back to full strength, so they will be hoping they can come together in time to surprise top-ranked Fenwick (10-0) in a key Catholic League contest on Monday night.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Brother Rice at St Patrick

The Crusaders (5-5) and Shamrocks (5-4) resume their Catholic League rivalry on Monday night, with both teams looking to secure a third-seed in the MCAC Tournament in May.

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

St Ignatius at Fenwick

The Catholic League title race will likely be decided at Fenwick on Monday night, as the Friars (5-0, 10-1) try to remain perfect in the MCAC when they battle St Ignatius (5-1, 7-1) in matchup of Top 5 teams.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Sandburg at Lockport

The Eagles (7-4) look to bounce back from a weekend loss to Loyola when they travel to Lockport (4-4) to face a much-improved Porters squad.
