GAME RECAPS (Tuesday, May 8)

GIRLS

GLENBROOK SOUTH SECTIONAL

Glenbrook North 18 Resurrection 6

Mary Claire Seeberg poured in 11 goals and Molly Orbon notched 3 scores as the Spartans advanced to Thursday's quarterfinal round with an 18-6 victory over Resurrection.

Glenbrook South 13 Maine West 5

The Titans earned a 13-5 win over fellow CSL-foe Maine West on Tuesday, setting up a matchup with top seed New Trier on Thursday afternoon.

METEA VALLEY SECTIONAL

STC East 7 Hinsdale South 6

The Saints pulled off a preliminary round upset by holding off Hinsdale South 7-6 on Tuesday. East won just their second game of the season and is rewarded with a matchup with top-seed Naperville Central, while the Hornets ended the year with a 7-17 mark.

PALATINE SECTIONAL

Palatine 15 Deer Park 4

The Pirates earned a 15-4 home victory over Deer Park on Tuesday, moving into the quarterfinal round to face Stevenson on Thursday afternoon. Nicole Theis scored 6 goals, Rachel Chumbook totaled 4 goals and 5 steals, and Caroline Wojtas chipped in with 3 scores in the Pirates' win. Hannah Otis also blocked 10 shots for the victors. Jessie Gelberg and Sophie Leib both recorded 2 scores in the losing effort.

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Hoffman 5 Meadows 4

Stephanie Lynn's fourth-quarter goal proved to be the difference-maker as Hoffman staved off a late challenge from Meadows to earn a 5-4 home victory on Tuesday night. The Hawks led 4-1 after Sharon Sturnfield's goal in the third period, but the Mustangs outscored the hosts 3-1 in the final seven minutes to make things close. Hoffman advanced to play top-seeded Fremd on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

GAME PREVIEWS (Tuesday, May 8)

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

5:45pm Resurrection at Glenbrook North

GBN made an impressive run through the CSL field to finish in third place last weekend. Can they carry that momentum over into sectionals, where they meet a Resurrection team in search if its' second win?

KEEP AN EYE ON:

5:45pm Deer Park at Palatine

Nicole Theis and Rachel Chumbook lead a surging Pirates' team that finished their 2012 campaign with twice as many wins as the previous season. They will have to be at their best when they face not one but two schools when both Deerfield and Highland Park combine to try and crash the Palatine party to get a chance to play top-seeded Stevenson in the next round.
