The sectional playoffs are underway! Check the 2012 Sectional Center for schedules, scores, recaps and all updates all throughout the week. Good luck to all of the 128 remaining teams!

 


 

Notes & Information

For those who do not know, the official scoreline for a forfeited game is 5-0. There have been four games with this outcome already on Thursday.

GIRLS

GLENBROOK SOUTH SECTIONAL

New Trier 12 Glenbrook South 6

Kelsey Willian recorded 4 goals and Alexana Astor, Isabelle Baneaux, and Lindey Siegel each registered 2 scores in the Trevians' 12-6 win over GBS. Hannah Caywood blocked 12 shots in the win for NT. Anne Edwards led the Lady Titans with 4 scores in the losing effort.

 

Evanston 6 Prospect 5

Yasi Nassiri notched 2 scores to help lift Evanston past Prospect 6-5 on Thursday. Jessica Cavaiani put in 4 scores for the Knights in the narrow loss.

 

Loyola 13 Glenbrook North 9

Evan Swenson totaled 6 goals and Marta Considine notched 5 scores to lead the Ramblers to a 13-9 win over GBN. Katie Lynch scored 2 times and Meredith O'Brien totaled 5 saves and 5 steals in the victory. Mary Claire Seeberg registered 4 scores in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Maine South 9 Maine East 5

Tyler Gooding tallied 3 scores to help lead Maine South to a 9-5 upset win over Maine East. Maria Protic led the Blue Demons with 3 scores in the loss.

 

LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL SECTIONAL

Lincoln-Way Central 10 Lincoln-Way West 3

Danijela Jackovich scored 4 times, Liz Klock notched 3 goals, and Brittany Knowlton scored 2 goals as LWC got past LWW 10-3. Caroline Foglton totaled 11 saves in the victory for the Knights. Allison Rocha netted 2 goals in the losing cause for the Warriors.

 

Lockport 9 Andrew 6

Christine Bafia tallied 4 goals and Alyssa Black netted 2 scores as the Porters surprised Andrew 9-6 to move to the semifinal round. Annamarie Lettiere and Eva Fugger both notched 2 scores and goalkeeper Jordan Bartolini made 9 saves in the losing effort.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 14 Marian 8

Rebecca Mathews registered 9 goals to lead the Vikings to a 14-8 victory over Marian. Maddy Morris also put in 2 goals for the winners. Paige Wieser led the Spartans with 5 goals in the loss.

 

Lincoln-Way North 9 Lincoln-Way East 3

Jenna Tasic totaled 4 goals, Sam Klosak chipped in with 3 scores, and Emily Koss scored 2 times as LWN beat LWE 9-3 to advance to the semifinal round.

 

METEA VALLEY SECTIONAL

Naperville Central 18 STC East 1

Kristina Altuve and Michelle Spaits both scored 3 goals and Emily Sejna, Gracie May, Lauren Gunn, and Madison Nervig each pitched in with 2 scores as the Redhawks defeated STC East 18-1. Sarah Ditch put in the lone goal for the Saints.

 

Neuqua Valley 9 STC North 4

Courtney Taylor and Kaitlyn Gorski each scored 2 goals as the Wildcats used a 6-1 run to put away STC North 9-4 on Thursday. Claire Bultema netted 2 scores in the loss for the North Stars.

 

Naperville North 12 Hinsdale Central 3

Audrey Chien scored 3 goals and both Emily Ault and Jillian Eiken added 2 scores as the Huskies topped Hinsdale Central 12-3. Sarah Pircon led the Red Devils with 2 scores in the loss.

 

Metea Valley 14 Waubonsie Valley 4

Alex Conti recorded 4 goals and Lizzie Hollopeter registered 3 scores as the hosts defeated Waubonsie 14-4 on Thursday evening. Leah Hummel also scored 2 times in the win for the Mustangs. Jailin Turner and Lauren Stercay both notched 2 scores in the loss for the Warriors.

 

PALATINE SECTIONAL

Stevenson 14 Palatine 9

Erin McCook netted 4 goals and Brittany Gartenberg, Claire Moschovas, and Cami Haas each recorded 2 goals in Stevenson's 14-9 triumph over Palatine. Lisa Michalowski also made 10 saves for the Patriots. Nicole Theis totaled 7 scores, Rachel Chumbook notched 2 goals, and Hannah Otis stopped 12 saves in the loss for the Pirates.

 

Buffalo Grove 10 Libertyville 8 (OT)

Sarah Fasching registered 4 goals and Callie Fasching made 15 saves as the Bison outlasted Libertyville 10-8 in overtime on Thursday night. BG outscored the Wildcats 2-0 in the extra session to advance to the semifinal round. Bridget White also scored 2 times for the victors. Sam Voulker notched 4 scores and Devika Joshi tallied 2 scores in the losing effort.

 

Wheeling 18 Vernon Hills 7

Theresa Godlewski scored 5 times and both Heather Murphy and Leah Malson tallied 4 scores to help lift Wheeling past Vernon Hills 18-7. Haydee Tomayo and Shannon Richards both chipped in with 2 scores and Keara Myatt stopped 7 shots in the Wildcats' victory. Anna Lebiedzinksi notched 4 scores and Dana Andrea added 2 scores in the losing cause for the Cougars.

 

Mundelein 12 Lake Forest 3

Allie Boothe posted 4 goals and Amy Klink, Kasia Wienckowski, and Karrie Kozokar each scored 2 times in Mundelein's 12-3 victory over Lake Forest. Caroline Tarwid led the Scouts with 2 goals, while goalie Laura Meng denied 10 shots in the loss.

 

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Fremd 20 Hoffman 4

Lauren Zambelli scored 5 goals and Sam Matuszewski added 3 scores as Fremd shutout Hoffman in the first half en route to a 20-4 victory on Thursday. Amy McEllen, Breanna Anderson, and Emily McCarthy each added 2 scores in the Vikings' win. Faith Sheely, Kasia Serwin, Sharon Sturnfield, and Stephanie Lynn each scored once in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Conant 6 Hersey 5

Jessica Southern recorded 5 goals as the Cougars survived a late surge to beat Hersey 6-5. Conant led 6-3 entering the final period before the Huskies scored two straight goals, but it was not enough to stop the Cougars from advancing to the semifinal round. Jessica Davis made 25 saves for the victors. The Huskies were led by Karolina Szymaszek's 2 goals.

 

Barrington 12 St Viator 5

Kate Luedtke tallied 4 goals and Grace Buenrostro and Lisa Danhauer each netted 2 goals as Barrington defeated St Viator 12-5. Eileen Mallof recorded 2 goals in the loss for the Lions.

 

Schaumburg 8 Elk Grove 4

Kristy Bessler totaled 4 goals and Jessica Sumsky blocked 10 shots as the Saxons earned an 8-4 victory over Elk Grove. Rachel Fish added 2 scores and Ashley Johnson led the way on the defensive end with 4 steals, as SHS held their opponents scoreless in the final quarter. Alexa Zajac and Kathryn Noonan both scored 2 goals and Leah Rivard made 18 saves in the loss for the Grenadiers.

 

STAGG SECTIONAL

Sandburg 5 Morgan Park 0

The Eagles advanced to the semifinals by claiming a 5-0 forfeit win over Morgan Park.

 

UIC SECTIONAL
St Ignatius 5 Juarez 0

The Wolfpack advanced to Friday's semifinal round without getting in the pool due to a Juarez forfeit.

 

Northside 11 Whitney Young 9 (OT)

Megan Gillespie and Meghan Quigley both scored 4 times and Rebecca Chan netted 2 goals (including a key score in extra time) as Northside outlasted Whitney Young 11-9 in overtime. Marti Hale debuted in goal for the Mustangs and stopped 25 shots in the victory.

 

YORK SECTIONAL

Lyons 5 Clark 0

The Lions booked their ticket for the semifinal round after Clark forfeited their quarterfinal game.

 

Oak Park 11 Morton 6

Katie Appell scored 5 goals, Elizabeth Williams tallied 3 scores, and Hannah Legatzke netted 2 goals as Oak Park downed Morton 11-6. Zoe Erickson also stopped 11 shots in the Huskies' win.

 

Fenwick 5 Curie 0

The defending champions have also moved to the semifinals after a forfeit by Curie on Thursday.
