The sectional playoffs are underway! Check the 2012 Sectional Center for schedules, scores, recaps and all updates all throughout the week. Good luck to all of the 128 remaining teams!

BOYS

GLENBROOK SOUTH SECTIONAL

Loyola 11 Glenbrook South 6

Charlie Dowdle recorded 4 goals and Erik Goosmann, Jordan Hodur, and Tim Netzel each put in 2 scores as the Ramblers defeated GBS 11-6 on Friday afternoon. Michael Sadowski led the Titans with 2 goals in the loss.

 

New Trier 16 Maine South 8

Jordan Palmer registered 7 scores and Jacob Dray added 4 goals as New Trier topped Maine South 16-8.

Makai DeNeve-Arnam led the Hawks with 3 scores in the losing effort.

 

LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL SECTIONAL

Lockport 13 Bradley 6

Dave Hir recorded 5 goals, Dan Oldendorf scored 4 times, and Chris Formosa netted 3 scores to help the Porters eliminate Bradley 13-6.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 16 Bremen 8

Kevin Kuchta and Zack Peterson each scored 5 times as H-F earned a 16-8 victory over Bremen. Quinn Johnson and Kris Arnold each recorded 3 goals in the loss for the Silver Snakes.

 

METEA VALLEY SECTIONAL

Naperville North 13 Neuqua Valley 4

Aaron Katz and Eric Curia both scored 4 goals and Garret Nash notched 2 scores as Naperville North got past Neuqua Valley 13-4 on Friday evening.

 

Naperville Central 17 Hinsdale Central 13

Dennis Herron recorded 5 goals to help lift Naperville Central to a 17-13 victory over Hinsdale Central.

 

PALATINE SECTIONAL

Stevenson 20 Wheeling 13

Mitchell Sokolsky poured in 7 goals and Alex Shkiler connected on 6 shots as Stevenson beat Wheeling 20-13 on Friday. Remy Dalloul added 3 scores, Chris Hodges and Evan Woodward notched 2 scores, and Robbie O'Brien stopped 7 shots in the Patriots win. Austin Idhe led the Wildcats with 4 goals, while Lucasz Szsepaniac tallied 3 scores, Cory Perlman and Dan Shriber netted 2 goals, and Noah Ihde stopped 12 shots in the losing effort.

 

McHenry 15 Lake Forest 8

Joe Peck netted 5 goals, Lucas Matthys put in 4 scores, and Matt Peck notched 3 goals as McHenry pulled away from Lake Forest to earn a 15-8 victory on Friday. John Baker led the Scouts with 6 goals in the losing effort.

 

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Fremd 12 Hoffman 4

JP French tallied 5 scores, Andrew Degla netted 4 goals, and Max Plichta blocked 26 shots in the Vikings' 12-4 victory over Hoffman. Mike Desider led the Hawks with 2 goals in the loss.

 

Schaumburg 8 Conant 2

Randy Carr recorded 4 scores and Matt McMullen netted 3 goals as Schaumburg defeated Conant 8-2 on Friday. Marty Faleni also made 7 saves in the win for the Saxons. JC Virta and Jon Burke each recorded once goal in the loss for the Cougars.

 

STAGG SECTIONAL

Sandburg 18 St Rita 2

For the second straight game, Sandburg goalie Mike Malecki allowed just 2 goals to help the Eagles beat St Rita 18-2. Matt Veldman racked up 4 goals, while Kevin Tunney and Zach Roper each chipped in with 3 scores in the winning effort. John Murphy and Mike Hernandez each scored once in the loss for St Rita.

 

Stagg 11 Brother Rice 9

Juan Valdez scored 4 goals and Nate Schaub added 3 scores as the Chargers upset Brother Rice 11-9 on Friday night. Ryan Petersen also scored 2 times and Jihad Ramadan saved 10 shots for the victors. Kevin Mayer scored 4 times and Mike Mulcrone netted 3 scores in the losing effort for the Crusaders. The hosts held a 10-7 lead heading into the final period, but Rice was able to trim the lead to one midway through the period. Schaub responded with a late goal for Stagg, who held on to secure a spot in the sectional finals.

 

UIC SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 19 DeLaSalle 14

Brayden Amendola totaled 6 goals and Billy Barth and Jaime Juarez each scored 4 times as St Ignatius held off DeLaSalle 19-14. Tym Zymon also made 10 saves in the winning effort.

 

YORK SECTIONAL

Fenwick 14 Oak Park 9

Dan Kelly scored 4 goals and both Jimmy Mullen and Rich Mueller scored 2 times to help Fenwick knock off Oak Park 14-9 on Friday. Troy Williams led the Huskies with 4 goals and 2 assists in the losing effort.

 

Lyons 11 Curie 1

Josh Hirt scored 3 goals and Kovas Zygas added 2 scores as the Lions' strong defensive effort led to an 11-1 win over Curie. Manny Martinez tallied the only goal in the loss for the Condors.

 


 

GIRLS

GLENBROOK SOUTH SECTIONAL

New Trier 16 Evanston 5

Erika Nothnagel and Isabelle Baneaux both recorded 4 scores and Jocelyn Kupets, Lindsay Siegel, and Samantha Padavic each tallied 2 goals in the Trevians' 16-5 win over Evanston. Robyn Bastian netted 3 goals in the loss for the Wildkits.

 

Loyola 14 Maine South 13

Evan Swenson totaled 6 goals and Marta Considine added 5 goals as Loyola held off a strong challenge from Maine South to earn a 14-13 victory on Friday night. Allison Sajnaj also netted 2 scores and goalie Meredith O'Brien stopped 7 shots in the Ramblers' win. Iza Matczuk recorded 5 goals, Tyler Gooding put in 4 scores, and Anne Pavlis totaled 2 goals in the Hawks' loss.

 

LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL SECTIONAL

Lincoln-Way Central 10 Lockport 2

Danijela Jackovich registered 5 goals and both Ashley Dhooghe and Megan McClean added 2 scores as LWC moved to the title game at their own sectional after an 10-2 win over Lockport. Kathleen Reany and Paige Adelman each scored once in the loss for the Porters.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 8 Lincoln-Way North 2

Rebecca Mathews totaled 5 goals and Anna Tenny, Annie Schloen, and Claire Duncan each added a goal in the Vikings' 8-2 win over LWN. Cheyenne DeGraff and Sam Klosak both tallied one score in the loss for the Phoenix.

 

METEA VALLEY SECTIONAL

Naperville Central 16 Neuqua Valley 2

Abbey Kerth poured in 10 goals and Lauren Gunn scored 2 times as Naperville Central advanced to the sectional finals with a 16-2 victory over Neuqua Valley. Julia Campbell also stopped 6 shots in the win.

 

Metea Valley 8 Naperville North 6

Lizzie Hollopter scored the game-winning goal on a lob shot in fourth quarter and added a late insurance goal as Metea Valley stunned Naperville North 8-6 in Friday night's late game. The hosts trailed heading into the final period after North went on a 3-0 run midway through the second half. The Mustangs never gave up, using a 4-0 run of their own in the final seven minutes to advance to the sectional finals.

 

PALATINE SECTIONAL

Stevenson 13 Buffalo Grove 6

Cami Haas netted 6 goals, Erin McCook registered 5 scores, and Lisa Michalowski blocked 17 shots in the Patriots' 13-6 triumph over Buffalo Grove. Julie Pater and Sarah Fasching both put in 2 goals in the loss for BG.

 

Wheeling 9 Mundelein 4

Leah Malsom scored 5 goals and Shannon Richards added 2 tallies in Wheeling's 9-4 win over Mundelein. Keara Myatt also made 13 saves for the Wildcats, who used a 4-0 run in the second quarter to pull away from the Mustangs. Alyssa Garcia notched 2 scores in the loss for Mundelein.

 

STAGG SECTIONAL

Mother McAuley 17 Richards 6

Amy Kopale and Clare Bryar both recorded 3 goals to lead the Mighty Macs past Richards 17-6. Chris Dvoracek scored 4 times in the losing effort.

 

Sandburg 11 Bremen 7

Jamie Pappanastos tallied 4 scores, Brittany Kamper and Cara Hays both notched 2 scores, and Alona King saved 12 shots in Sandburg's 11-7 victory over Bremen. Hannah Schultz and Nora Plank put in 3 scores apiece in the loss for the Red Jaguars.

 

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Fremd 15 Conant 5

Lauren Zambelli recorded 5 goals, Sam Matuszewski scored 4 times, and Sam del Prado netted 2 goals as Fremd earned a 15-5 victory over Conant on Friday. Julie Conrath also saved 15 shots in the Vikings win. Kristi Burke tallied 2 goals and Jessica Davis blocked 13 shots in the losing effort for the Cougars.

 

Barrington 12 Schaumburg 7

Kate Luedtke registered 5 scores and Lisa Danhauer added 4 goals as the Fillies downed Schaumburg 12-7. Kristy Bessler scored 4 times and Rachel Fish added 2 goals in the Saxons' loss.

 

UIC SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 15 Northside 10

The Wolfpack earned a 15-10 win over Northside to advance to the sectional finals. Meanwhile, Rhyan White scored 4 times and Meghan Quigley, Megan Gillespie, and Sarah Bodenstein all tallied 2 scores in the season-ending loss for the Mustangs.

 

YORK SECTIONAL

Lyons 16 Oak Park 7

Kirby Kaptur scored 4 times and Blair Hopwood and Claire Curran each tallied 3 scores in the Lions' 16-7 victory over Oak Park. Carrie Nacht and Lizzy Kosin both registered 2 goals in the win for LT. Elizabeth Williams scored 4 goals in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Fenwick 10 York 3

Cara Borkovec registered 2 goals as Fenwick earned a 10-3 victory over York on Friday. Carly Redmond tallied 3 scores for the Lady Dukes in the losing effort.
