THE ILLPOLO REPORT

Week 10

The following is a summary of what took place during the ninth week of the season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best performances from each week.

Players To Watch

Boys - Andrew Hertel/Kyle Braun (McHenry)

Both players scored key goals in the Warriors' 9-8 win over Palatine.

Boys - David Zarychta (Maine South)

Zarychta scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the last two minutes of the Hawks' 12-9 win over Maine East on Monday.

Girls - Caroline Huff (New Trier)

Huff's goal in the closing seconds of the first half proved to be vastly important as the Trevians went on to beat Loyola 11-10.

Girls - Dani Caldwell (Mundelein)

Caldwell scored 3 times in the Mustangs' 15-3 win over Stevenson.

Biggest Impact

Boys - Jaime Juarez (St Ignatius)

Boys - John Osborne (Fenwick)

Osborne scored the game-winning goal in the last minute of Fenwick's 10-9 victory over Oak Park.

Boys - Reilly Shanahan (McHenry)

Shanahan's goal in the final minute sent the Warriors to state after a 9-8 win over Palatine on Saturday.

Boys - Will Davidson (Mundelein)

Davidson's goal with two seconds remaining sent the Mustangs to the state tournament, as they defeated Stevenson 12-11 on Saturday.

Girls - Abby Maze (Lincoln-Way East)

Maze connected on a goal in the second minute of sudden-death OT to lift LWE past Andrew 8-7 on Thursday.

Girls - Hannah Ongman (H-F)
