SECTIONAL FINALS

Saturday, May 11

Finals

(1) Barrington 12 (2) Fremd 10

After trailing by one goal early on, the Fillies came storming back to take a 5-3 halftime lead en route to a 12-10 victory over Fremd on Saturday. Tori Boldt scored the opening goal for Fremd, but Kelly Meckert and Rachel Scardino put the Fillies ahead 2-1 by the end of the period. The Fillies methodically increased their advantage to 5-3 at halftime and outscored Fremd 6-3 through most of the second half to build their advantage to 11-6 in the fourth quarter. A furious rally by the Vikings saw them close the gap to just two goals with two minutes remaining, but the Fillies defense made three key stops to secure the win and claim a state tournament berth. Meckert recorded 4 goals, Lisa Danhauer scored 3 times, and Catherine Byron and Sam Gavars scored 2 goals apiece in the win for Barrington. Tori Boldt registered 4 goals and Sam DiCanio notched 3 scores in the loss for the Vikings.
