BOYS

Curie 21 Lincoln Park 14

Eduardo Chavez racked up 6 goals and Jaime Lopez added 5 scores as Curie defeated Lincoln Park by a 21-14 score on Monday. Ervin Gomez also scored 2 times in the Condors' victory. Grego Lorenzo tallied 6 scores in the loss for the Lions.

 

DeLaSalle 9 Morton 6

Robert Rodriguez totaled 3 goals as DeLaSalle held off Morton 9-6 in a nonconference contest.

 

Fenwick 19 St Rita 6

Dan Kelly, Dan Sullivan, Derek Guillen, and Matt Farmer each registered 2 goals and 11 other Friars recorded a goal in a 19-6 win over St Rita on Monday. Ryan McMahon recorded 4 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Hersey 11 Elk Grove 3

Mike Kintzle tallied 3 goals as Hersey defeated Elk Grove 11-3.

 

Hoffman 15 STC North 11

Sang Han notched 5 scores and Adam Pasnicki and Mike Desider combined to score 5 times in Hoffman's 15-11 home victory over STC North. Joey Chokran recorded 6 goals in the loss for the North Stars.

 

Lake Forest 17 Highland Park 12

John Baker scored 6 times and Colin Rowe recorded 5 goals in Lake Forest's 17-12 win over HP.

 

Loyola 16 Mt Carmel 1

Erik Goosman and Jack Buehler both recorded 3 scores as the Ramblers earned their first Catholic League win by beating Mt Carmel 16-1. Louis Vitiritti scored the lone goal for the Caravan.

 

McHenry 11 STC East 7

Lucas Matthys recorded 9 goals as McHenry handed STC East their first loss of the season by an 11-7 margin. Mitch Phelps and Stephen Mason both scored 3 times in the loss.

 

Northside 17 Juarez 9

Cyrus Deloye registered 8 goals and Connor Gillespie added 6 more in Northside's 17-9 win over Juarez. Josue Hernandez notched 6 scores in the loss for Juarez.

 

Payton 13 Steinmetz 5

Michael Kelly and Stefano Pigliafreddo each tallied 3 scores to help lift Payton over Steinmetz 13-5.

 

Sandburg 17 Lincoln-Way North 10

Anthony Bonnar totaled 6 goals, Kevin Tunney scored 4 times, and Matt Veldman chipped in with 3 goals in Sandburg's 17-10 victory over LWN. Curtis Thrun recorded 6 goals and Jake Roberts notched 3 scores in the loss for the Phoenix.

 

St Patrick 17 St Viator 8

Jon Gutierrez recorded 7 goals to help lift the Shamrocks past the Lions 17-8 in Catholic League play.

 

Von Steuben 17 Taft 12

Adam Allingham scored 6 goals and Alvaro Ajredini added 5 scores as Von held off Taft 17-12. Aaron Lazalde led Taft with 4 scores in the losing effort.

 

Wheeling 11 Glenbrook North 9

Austin Ihde scored 5 goals and Ethan Rosengarden tallied 3 scores as Wheeling held off GBN 11-9.

 

GIRLS

Barrington 8 Mundelein 7

Sam Gavars scored 3 times and both Catherine Byron and Lisa Danheuer added 2 goals as Barrington edged Mundelein 8-7 on Monday night. Brooke Fanslow stopped 18 shots in the win for the Fillies. Karrie Kozokar scored 3 goals and Amanda Boothe scored 2 goals in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 17 Stagg 5

Rebecca Mathews recorded 4 goals and Anna Tenny added 3 scores as H-F cruised to a 17-5 win over Stagg on Monday. Anna Schloen, Claire Duncan, and Tess Adamonis each scored 2 times, while goalie Anna Shirer made 15 saves in the Vikings' victory. Liz Hadhazy led the Chargers with 4 goals in the loss.

 

Mother McAuley 12 St Ignatius 6

Amy Kopale scored 5 times and Clare Bryar added 3 scores in the Mighty Macs 12-6 victory over rival St Ignatius. Sarah Abbott also made 13 saves in the win for McAuley. Stephanie Fernandez scored 2 times in the loss for the Wolfpack.

 

Lyons 18 New Trier 10

Kirby Kaptur poured in 6 goals and both Blair Hopwood and Carrie Nacht scored 4 times to lead Lyons to an 18-10 victory over New Trier. Alexana Astor scored 5 goals and Hannah Caywood and Kelsey Willian each tallied 2 scores for the Trevians in the losing effort.

 

Northside 12 Juarez 8

Jane Patzke recorded 3 goals to help lead Northside past Juarez 12-8. Dafne Hernandez scored 6 times in the loss for Juarez.

 

Sandburg 10 Lincoln-Way North 7

Jamie Pappanastos totaled 5 goals and Alona King made 14 saves to lead the Eagles to a 10-7 win over LWN in SWSC play.

 

Vernon Hills 12 Maine South 11 (OT)

Katie Manning scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of overtime to lift Vernon Hills to a 12-11 extra time victory over Maine South on Monday evening. Sabrina Counselbaum made 17 saves in the Cougars win, including a block in the closing seconds of overtime that preserved the win.

#9 New Trier at #2 Lyons

The Trevians (3-1-1) had an impressive weekend at the Palatine Tournament, but they'll have to be at their best if they wish to challenge the second-ranked Lions (2-0) in their home pool on Monday night.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#4 Brother Rice at #16 St Ignatius

The Crusaders (1-0) seek their second win of the season when they head to UIC to take on St Ignatius. The Wolfpack (1-4) will look to bounce back from a rough weekend at the Palatine Tournament.

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#3 St Ignatius at #4 Mother McAuley

The Wolfpack (2-0) and Mighty Macs (4-0) face their biggest challenge of this young season when they meet on the South Side to resume their Catholic League rivalry on Monday night.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#8 New Trier at #7 Lyons

Two undefeated teams square off in a nonconference night game in Lagrange when the Trevians (4-0) take on the Lions (3-0) in an intriguing contest. New Trier was perfect over the weekend with wins over teams like Sandburg and Evanston, while LT won three straight conference games in the opening week.
