QUARTER 1

-----  We are nearing the start time for the consolation game between #2 Naperville Central and #3 Lyons. Should be an excellent game between two high-quality sides that will be looking to erase the disappointment from their semifinal game losses.
7'00 And we're underway in Lincolnshire! Lyons with it first, Bruton's 2m attempt is tipped over by Kelley.
5'41 On the other end, Stanley gets Central on the scoreboard first!
5'01 LT draws an ejection, but Kelley makes his second save of the period to keep them scoreless.
4'44 Ellison with a block; LT turnover.
4'34 Stanley gets open on the left side and scores his second goal and it's 2-0 Central
4'19 Tully answers for Lyons, cutting the lead in half with a quick shot from 5m.
3'58 After an ejection, Reasons connects from 5m and it's 3-1.
3'40 Lt earns an ejection but Central gets a stop.
2'50 Reasons walks in on the left side and finds Danny Tucker open at 2m for a goal and a 4-1 Central lead.
2'00 The teams four trade possessions with no scoring.
1'32 Kelley rejects an outside shot attempt by Weigand, whose next chance bounces off the left post and right to the NC goalie.
1'00 Ellison is out of the net to make a steal; turnover by LT.
0'12 Tucker gets in front of Bruton to prevent his shot attempt in transition as we reach the end of the opening quarter.
 

 

Naperville Central 4 Lyons 1

QUARTER 2

6'34 Central gets an ejection to start the quarter and Canene capitalizes with a goal, assisted by Reasons, give Central a commanding 5-1 lead.
5'29 Tucker scores his second goal after coming in off the bench.
5'05 Kelley with a save and he finds Menis open on the other end; he scores from the right side to the Redhawks a 7-1 lead and LT will need to talk things over.
4'56 Lyons timeout
4'47 Bruton's shot nearly floats past Kelley, but he retrieves it and starts the Central counter.
4'00 Stanley lobs a shot off to the left; Weigand gets inside his defender at 2m and could score but Kelley gets big and knocks his shot down to prevent a score.
3'20 Weigand's lob hits the crossbar and takes a fortunate bounce into the hands of Shopiro, who puts his shot into the right corner for an LT goal! The Lions needed that one to stop a 5-0 Central run.
2'30 Bruton's backhand from 2m is good and it's 7-3 now.
1'11 Menis draws an ejection and Ellison makes a key save for LT; he starts the breakaway chance for them but Swierczewski's attempt goes over the net.
0'43 Reasons with a lob shot that falls in and it's 8-3 NC.
0'06 Weigand takes a pass from Burke and scores to cut the lead to 8-4 right before halftime.
 

 

Naperville Central 8 Lyons 4

QUARTER 3

-----  Central enjoys a four-goal lead, but LT finished the first half with some added energy and could get back into this one really quickly.
6'40  Weigand forces a turnover on a set pass attempt by NC.
6'00 Sekula draws a kickout on the other end that comes to nothing as the shot clock expires on LT.
5'30 Menis fires from 9m and Ellison knocks it out-of-bounds.
4'10 Weigand gets it at 2m but can't get a shot off; Ellison comes out of the goal to make a steal,; Stanley with a steal on the other end; neither team has been able to score so far as we near the late stages of the third period.
2'50 Weigand catches the ball on the left post and lofts a lob shot while fading backwards and it just catches the crossbar and bounces to Kelley.
2'25 Tucker draws an ejection and it's Menis who scores from 5m to put Central ahead 9-4.
1'45 Ejection called on NC; Sekula's shot from 7m is blocked by Jack Howenstein.
1'20 NC turnover; Burke is left open on the left wing and gets hit shot into the corner to cut the lead to 9-5.
0'30 LT forces a turnover; Bruton shoots high and it's tipped out by Kelley; Kelley with another save on Shopiro's shot from the right wing; and Kelley ends the period with another save in the last sequence as we had to the final quarter of each team's respective seasons.
 

 

Naperville Central 9 Lyons 5

QUARTER 4

----- LT is still within striking distance of Central, but they will need a quick goal or two to have a chance.
6'40  Ellison does his part with an early save for LT, but Central forces a turnover on the other end.
5'50 Sekula tips a shot towards Ellison who collects it and starts the counter for LT. NC forces a turnover, however, and it's Stanley open at 2m and his goal makes the score 10-5.
4'50 Kelley with a save; Ellison with a steal for LT.
4'20 Sekula shoots over the net; Ellison knocks down a shot by Saltzman from 7m.
3'57 Kelley rises up to make another save.
3'31 Ellison comes out of the goal to block an attempt by Menis.
3'00 Kelley makes another save and NC calls timeout.
2'24 Bruton with a steal and long pass to Burke, but he is doubled by Stanly and Canene and they force a turnover.
2'00 Naperville Central timeout
1'40 Sekula with a steal, draws an ejection, and his 7m shot is deflected in to cut the lead to 10-6.
0'38 Tom Shamburek hits the crossbar on a lob for NC; Burke draws an ejection but Kelley stops a shot from the right wing from Weigand.
0'10 Last chance for LT, Weigand turns just inside 5m and scores in the final minute.
0'00 It's all over, as Naperville Central claims a third place finish at the state tournament with a 10-7 victory over Lyons!
