PERIOD 1

-The starting lineups are in, the national anthem has been performed, and we are ready to go!

-Central starts with possession but their first shot goes over the goal

-Codo earns a steal, Fox draws an ejection, but the McAuley defense gets a stop

-Hennigan with a field block and McAuley heads back on offense

-The teams trade possessions before Spaits gets a good look but hits the crossbar

-All defense as we enter the final two minutes without a goal

-Bryar lobs from 7m but it goes a bit over the goal

-Peyton with a big save, Central draws an ejection in front of goal but cannot convert

-Williamson finds Bryar open on the breakaway and scores to give McAuley a late lead; 1-0 McAuley

-Peyton makes a save late in the period and Williamson snags the loose ball and the horn sounds

PERIOD 2

-McAuley starts with the opening possession of Q2 but it comes to nothing

-Peyton stonewalls Westlove from 4m and recovers the rebound

-Bryar lobs one in from the right side and McAuley takes a 2-0 lead

-Tough defense on both ends and neither team can ultimately find a rhythm

-Williamson fights for position at 2m and scores to left corner to make it 3-0

-NC timeout

-After the timeout, both defenses force turnovers as they enter the final two minutes of the period

-Bryar draws an ejection and Williamson finds her open on the right for a 4-0 McAuley advantage

-Peyton gets to Ryan's lob attempt from the right side

-The McAuley defense has been stellar as the half ends without another shot for Central

PERIOD 3

-Two good chances for the Redhawks to start the period but Peyton denies both shots

-Vandercar and Peyton each with solid stops as we near the midpoint of the period with no scoring

-Codo strikes from just inside 5m and the Redhawks are on the board; 4-1 McAuley

-McAuley timeout

-Altuve draws an ejection and immediately assists Spaits, who scores from 2m out; 4-2 McAuley

-Hennigan scores from 5m in the final minute and the Mighty Macs score for the first time in Q3

-Westlove scores on a rebound tap-in with :14 left to cut the lead to 5-3

-Hennigan draws an ejection late in the period but McAuley without a shot as the horn sounds

PERIOD 4

-Bryar finds the back of the net in the first minute but the shot came just after the shot clock expired

-Turnovers on both ends as we enter the last five minutes of regulation

-McAuley time out with 4:38 after a Peyton save; 5-3 McAuley

-Bryar turns her defender but clips the post with a rocket from 4m

-Peyton has been relentless in front of a tough defense as she makes another crucial save

-NC timeout (3:00 mark)

-Vandercar denies a 5m attempt from Olivares; McAuley forces a quick turnover with 2:15 left

-Williamson shoots over the crossbar from 5m and Central heads the other way

-Spaits takes a shot from left side but Peyton makes the save

-McAuley timeout (1:33)

-Central with a steal but an errant shot gives McAuley the ball with 1:06 left

-Bryar draws en ejection in the final minute and Williamson scores to put McAuley ahead 6-3

-Central draws an ejection, no timeout is granted, but no matter...Westlove scores from the left side!

-McAuley just about runs the clock out before a shot goes over the goal with two ticks left on the clock

-The clock runs out as Mother McAuley holds off Naperville Central 6-4

GAME RECAP

 

Mother McAuley 6 Naperville Central 4

Clare Bryar scored 3 goals, Fran Williamson put in 2 scores, and Maggie Hennigan added one goal as the Mighty Macs avenged an early season loss by beating Naperville Central 6-4. Emily Westlove recorded 2 goals and both Kaela Codo and Michelle Spaits scored once in the loss for the Redhawks.
