FENWICK SECTIONAL

Fenwick 23 R-B 6

Matt Bresnahan scored 4 goals, Justin White and Ryan Masi notched 3 scores each, and Mike Hill and Tommy McGuire combined to stop 13 shots in Fenwick's 23-6 win over Riverside-Brookfield. Filip Wilk, Jack Mahoney, and Tony Perez also scored 2 goals each for the victors. Dave Kidwell and Paul Sitkiewicz both scored 2 goals in the loss for the Bulldogs.

 

Curie 10 St Patrick 4

 

Lyons 13 Little Village 1

Seven players scored for Lyons as they took care of business in beating Little Village 13-1 on Thursday to advance to the sectional semifinal round.

Conant 15 Elk Grove 2

 

Schaumburg 9 Hersey 7

 

Fremd 16 St Viator 12

JP French racked up 7 goals and Matt Emerson netted 3 scores to help lead the Vikings to a 16-12 victory over St Viator. Connor Helsdingen and Matt Zambelli each added 2 scores in the win. Rob Battin totaled 6 goals and Keegan Finn scored 4 times in the loss for the Lions.

 

Hoffman 10 Prospect 6

Adam Pasnicki recorded 8 goals and Logan Gizel blocked 17 shots as Hoffman earned a methodical 10-6 win over Prospect on Thursday to advance to the sectional semifinals. Nick Jessee and Sang Han scored one goal apiece in the winning effort for the Hawks.

 

 

GBN SECTIONAL

New Trier 22 Glenbrook North 3

Alex Grant scored 5 times, Jordan Palmer recorded 4 goals in the opening quarter, and the trio of Maros Petro, John Schulz, and Michael Kruger tallied 2 scores each as New Trier defeated GBN 22-3. Ross Hoestler scored 2 goals and Stephan Johnson chipped in with one score in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Maine South 8 Niles West 7

Matt Kramer registered 3 scores and Brian Touhy put in 2 goals as the Hawks held off Niles West 8-7 to advance to the sectional semifinals on Thursday evening. Max Romanelli totaled 4 goals in the loss for the Wolves.

 

Loyola 8 Maine East 4

Jack Considine slammed home 3 goals and both Ben Pasquesi and Cameron Shewchuck netted 2 scores in Loyola's 8-4 win over Maine East. Mike Babula led the Blue Demons with 3 goals, including the game's only goal in the first period as the underdogs led 1-0 after one quarter of play.

 

Evanston 13 Glenbrook South 11

Sergo Maymo Lopez scored 4 goals and both Matt Comfort and Zack Kornak registered 2 scores as the Wildkits pulled off the upset of the tournament thus far by beating GBS 13-11 on Thursday. Bob Meyer and Matt Durkin each scored 4 times in the loss for the Titans.

 

 

LWN SECTIONAL

Homewood-Flossmoor 14 Lincoln-Way Central 2

Kevin Kuchta recorded 7 goals and both Mason Reidel and Mike Mitchell registered 2 scores in the Vikings' 14-2 win over LWC. Jakobi McClellan also stopped 12 shots in the win for H-F. Alex McCormick and Tristan Funk each scored once in the loss for the Knights.

 

Bradley 9 Bremen 5

Joseph Page netted 4 goals, Paul Weber totaled 3 scores and 5 assists, and Mark Hoffman saved 16 shots in Bradley's 9-5 win over Bremen. Gabe Stein-Rojas and Quinn Johnson both scored 2 goals in the loss for the Red Jaguars.

 

Lincoln-Way North 7 Andrew 3

Curtin Thrun scored 3 goals, Pat Budney netted 2 scores, and Shamus Shields blocked 17 shots to help the Phoenix get past Andrew 7-3. Eric Tamulonis, Mike Tamulonis, and Nick Brancato all scored one goal apiece in the loss for the T-Bolts.

 

Lockport 16 Lincoln-Way East 9

Jake Elias notched 6 scores, Dan Oldendorf scored 4 times, and David Presz registered 3 goals to help the Porters beat LWE 16-9. John Goetz made 17 saves in the Lockport win. Al Newell scored 4 times and both Nate Drewes and Sean Romberg scored 2 goals in the loss for the Griffins.

 

 

MUNDELEIN SECTIONAL

Stevenson 16 McHenry 4

Mitchell Sokolsky scored 5 goals to help Stevenson top McHenry 16-4 in the first quarterfinal game of the night at Mundelein. Alex Divanyan, Josh Weisberg, Remy Dalloul, and Varun Mummadi each recorded 2 goals in the win for the Patriots.

 

Libertyville 13 Mundelein 8

Jeremy Kucera totaled 4 scores as the Wildcats recovered from an early 3-0 deficit and later outscored the Mustangs 6-1 in the second half to grab a 13-8 win over the hosts on Thursday. Alex Wang added 3 goals and Eric Boynton netted 2 scores for the victors. Connor Black scored 3 times and Jason Rehor put in 2 goals in the loss for Mundelein.

 

Lake Forest 10 Wheeling 6

Jake Gloor led the Scouts with 4 goals in a 10-6 victory over Wheeling on Thursday night in the sectional quarterfinals at Mundelein.

 

Palatine 23 Buffalo Grove 3

Omar El Hoffi and Wally Kleinfeldt each poured in 5 goals and Kristian Kalev scored 4 times as Palatine downed Buffalo Grove 23-3. Alex Brons and Christian Kalfas both tallied 3 scores, Ryan Schlaiss netted 2 goals, and Peter Blackham totaled 11 blocks and 5 steals in the Pirates' blowout victory.

 

 

NEUQUA SECTIONAL

Naperville North 17 STC North 6

The Huskies jumped out to an 8-0 lead after one period en route to a 17-6 victory over STC North. Eric Curia scored 6 goals and Adam Nyland, Luke Landiak, and Nolan Roberts combined to score 6 goals in the victory for the sectional's top seed. Kyle Gannon and Nick Kowaleski each registered 2 goals and both Justin Simmonds and Ryan Hamilton both put in one score in the loss for the North Stars.

 

York 14 Neuqua Valley 12 (OT)

Patrick McKenna poured in 8 goals while Alex Waldherr and Wil Hubert each netted 2 scores as the Dukes outlasted Neuqua Valley 14-12 in overtime. York outscored the hosts 4-2 during extra time. Alex Thoele registered 4 scores, Will Russell netted 3 goals, and both Joey Delesandro and Simon Shatinsky notched 2 scores in the losing effort.

 

Naperville Central 12 STC East 4

Connor Lamb recorded 3 goals and the trio of Kyle Stablein, Matt Laboe, and Ryan Donahue each scored 2 times as the Redhawks emerged with a 12-4 win over STC East. Mitch Phelps totaled 3 goals in the loss for the Saints.

 

Hinsdale Central 15 Waubonsie Valley 11

Andre Brown and Brogan O'Doherty registered 4 scores and George Koulouris netted 3 goals as the Red Devils beat Waubonsie Valley 15-11. Mike McWhirter scored 6 goals in the loss for the Warriors.

 

 

STAGG SECTIONAL

Sandburg 13 Shepard 6

Kevin Tunney totaled 7 goals, Zach Roper notched 2 scores, and Sean McNicholas stopped 14 shots as the Eagles earned a 13-6 victory over Shepard. Neil Slowinski tallied 2 scores in the loss.

 

St Rita 18 Morgan Park 2

Daniel Sliazas scored 4 times to help St Rita beat Morgan Park 18-2. Jackie Dempsey put in 3 goals in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Brother Rice 16 Mt Carmel 6

Matt McComb recorded 4 goals to help lift the Crusaders over Mt Carmel 16-6. Dan Birmingham, Dave Jackson, and Luke Healy each netted 2 scores and Cal Kennedy blocked 11 shots in the win for Brother Rice. Louis Vitiritti put in 3 goals in the loss for the Caravan.

 

Stagg 18 Argo 8

Zack Amendola tallied 4 goals to lead Stagg to an 18-8 triumph over Argo in the late game on Thursday. Michael Cieglewicz put in 5 scores in the losing effort for the Argonauts.

 

 

UIC SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 14 Payton-Jones 10

Nine different players recorded goals for the Wolfpack as they earned a 14-10 win over Payton-Jones to advance to the semifinal round of their own sectional on Thursday.

 

Lane 11 Northside 8

Jake Boettcher scored 4 goals and both Ricardo Quezada and Steven Rummelhoff notched 2 scores as Lane pulled away from Northside in the second half to earn an 11-8 win over the Mustangs. Michal Rajski led NSP with 4 scores in the losing effort.

 

DeLaSalle 15 Latin 5

Angelo Espinoza and Roberto Rodriguez each scored 4 goals to lead the Meteors to a 15-5 win over Latin.

 

Whitney Young 16 Von Steuben 11 (OT)

The Dolphins outscored Von Steuben 5-0 in overtime to claim a 16-11 win in the sectional quarterfinals at UIC on Thursday.
