Week 2 Ballers

 

BOYS

Brendan Chang (Glenbrook South)

Chang registered 14 goals to help the Titans win the Evanston Tourney after wins over Bremen, GBN, Parkway Central, St Viator and the hosts. He also scored 4 times in the Titans' 19-4 win over Highland Park earlier in the week.

 

Cody Torres (Lincoln-Way West)

Torres amassed 20 goals for the Warriors and helped the squad claim a second place finish at the Schaumburg Tournament.

 

Nolan Vaughn/Kent Emden (Naperville Central)

Vaughn recorded 7 goals to lead the Redhawks' offense while Emden blocked 54 shots to help Central beat Brother Rice, Fenwick and Lyons to finish in second place at the Fenwick Tournament.

 

Alex Thielen/RJ Quinn (Hersey)

Quinn totaled 10 goals and Thielen earned three wins in goal as the Huskies won the Maine West Tournament. Thielen also earned a shutout over Vernon Hills earlier in the week.

 

Tony Dynek (Niles West)

Dynek stopped 27 shots, made 10 steals and allowed just 4 goals in a trio of wins over Libertyville, Lockport and St Patrick to help the Wolves finish in second place finish at the Mundelein Tournament. He also totaled 6 saves and 5 steals in a midweek win over GBN.

 

Henry Yavitt/Mason McQuet (New Trier)

Yavitt registered 13 goals and McQuet scored 10 times as the Trevians secured a second place finish at the Fenwick Tournament after beating Fenwick, Neuqua Valley and Naperville North. Yavitt also hit the game-winner at the buzzer to send New Trier past Fenwick 10-9 in the semifinals.

 

Kyle Poland/Matt Hoban (Fenwick)

Hoban and Poland combined to score 15 goals to help the Friars claim a  fourth place finish at their own event. Poland also scored 6 times in Week 2 wins over Brother Rice and Loyola while Hoban scored 2 key tallies in the win over the Ramblers.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Abbie Lukas (Mundelein)

Lukas registered 18 goals to help Mundelein finish in fourth place at the Naperville Central Tournament. She scored 8 times in an 8-4 victory over Sandburg and also led the offense with 4 goals in a 6-4 win over Fremd.

 

Allie Bradbury/Grace Wantuck/Kaysie Stuba (Lyons)

Stuba recorded 8 goals to lead the Lions' offense while Bradbury and Wantuck combined to earn wins over LWE, Waubonsie Valley and Young en route to the Whitney Young Tournament title on Saturday.

 

Stephania Lopez (St Ignatius)

Lopez totaled 12 goals to help the Wolfpack finish 3-1 at the Naperville Central Tournament. SICP earned wins over H-F, Mundelein and York.

 

Claire Rich/Katie Steele/Sarah Gibson (STC North)

Gibson recorded 10 goals and Rich made 31 saves as the North Stars earned wins over Andrew, Buffalo Grove and Maine West to win their own tournament on Saturday. Steele also scored 5 goals plus led the team to a 4-2 victory over Waubonsie Valley earlier in the week.

 

Emily Westlove/Sara Campbell (Naperville Central)

Westlove totaled 16 goals and Campbell made 30 saves and allowed just 4 goals per game as the Redhawks won their own tournament by beating H-F, Mother McAuley, St Ignatius and York. Westlove poured in 7 goals and Campbell made 9 saves in a 12-5 title game win over the Mighty Macs.

 

Jenny Ascencion (Morton)

Ascencion led all scorers with 15 goals at the Morton Tournament as the Mustangs got past Argo, Hinsdale South and Resurrection in order to win their own event.

 

Jill Mueller/Paulina Correa (Mother McAuley)

Correa and Mueller each scored 8 times against Fremd, NC and Sandburg while Correa poured in 10 goals and Mueller scored once in a Friday night victory over Mundelein. Correa also scored 6 goals and Mueller scored once in McAuley's 14-9 win over Fenwick on Wednesday.
