Week 7 Ballers

 

BOYS

Adam McGovern (Neuqua Valley)

McGovern totaled 12 goals as the Wildcats won the Metea Valley Tournament after beating the hosts, Bradley and Maine South.

 

Albijon Purelko (Niles West)

Purelko scored 5 goals in the Wolves' 12-6 win over GBS and totaled 3 goals and 5 drawn ejections as Niles West earned a key 7-6 victory over Evanston.

 

Andreas Christy (St Ignatius)

Christy recorded 11 goals to help the Wolfpack win their own tournament after wins against Lane, Maine West and Young.

 

Billy Becker/Scott Villiard (Libertyville)

Becker and Villiard both scored 4 goals in a 15-8 win over Glenbrook South to send the Wildcats to the first-place bracket of the GBS Tournament. Villiard also scored 4 goals in a 7-7 draw with Prospect to ensure Libertyville would play for the title at the event.

 

Brendan Chang (Glenbrook South)

Chang totaled 13 goals in the Titans' home tournament over the weekend and poured in 7 goals in a 15-12 victory over Maine South earlier in Week 7.

 

Danilo Scekic/Henry Yavitt (New Trier)

Yavitt totaled 21 goals and Scekic recorded 16 scores as the Trevians went 4-0 to win the GBS Tournament over the weekend.

 

Harris Dibek (Conant)

Dibek blocked 23 shots against Barrington in a key MSL West game earlier in the week and has been a major factor in the Cougars' 11-8-2 campaign thus far.

 

Joey Jenkot/Nick Jackson (Sandburg)

Jenkot totaled 6 goals and Jackson stopped 17 shots (with 5 saves in overtime) as the Eagles fended off LWC 15-12.

 

Jon-Jon Pettinger (Naperville North)

Pettinger scored 12 goals in a pair of wins over Conant and Neuqua Valley and scored 8 times to help the Huskies finish second at the GBS Tournament over the weekend.

 

Justin Ginsberg (Stevenson)

Ginsberg recorded 3 goals in the Patriots' 6-5 win over NC and added 4 goals in a 14-8 win over Conant as Stevenson won the Mundelein Tournament on Saturday.

 

Kevin Carr (Buffalo Grove)

Carr scored 6 times in a pair of wins over Palatine and Elk Grove during Week 7.

 

Shane Nagel (DLS)

Nagel totaled 10 goals in a pair of wins over Hinsdale Central and St Rita at the Brother Rice Tournament and registered 10 times in wins over Northside and Young earlier this week.

 

Thomas Fies (Evanston)

Fies recorded 10 goals in the championship round of the GBS Tournament as the Wildkits beat Hersey and finished in a draw with the hosts on Saturday afternoon. He also put in 7 scores in a loss to Naperville North at the event.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Brooke Pair/Eliza Sykes (Homewood-Flossmoor)

Brooke Pair totaled 11 goals and Eliza Sykes blocked 26 shots as the Vikings earned conference wins over LWW and Stagg during Week 7.

 

Claire Connors/Nicole McCabe (LWC)

McCabe registered 11 scores and Connors made 25 saves and allowed 6 goals per game as the Knights defeated HC, OPRF and the hosts to win the Naperville North Tournament.

 

Claire Haas (Stevenson)

Haas totaled 16 goals to lead the Patriots' offense to a 4-0 performance against four Top 10 teams from Michigan over the weekend. She also tallied 7 scores in a 20-2 win over Mundelein during Week 7.

 

Grace Wantuck/Kaysie Stuba (Lyons)

Stuba scored 27 goals and Wantuck stopped 43 shots as the Lyons won the St Ignatius Tournament and secured a pair of victories over Oak Park and Neuqua Valley during Week 7.

 

Helen Gunn (Jones-Payton)

Gunn earned a shutout victory over Westinghouse in CPS action and also stopped 8 shots in the Lady Eagles' 12-6 victory over GBN.

 

Isabelle Rocco/Taylor Wessel (Naperville North)

Wessel recorded 11 goals and Rocco scored 10 times to help the Huskies finish second at their own weekend event and during a mid-week win over Conant.

 

Jasmin Guzman (Morton)

Guzman totaled 13 goals to help lead the Mustangs past Hinsdale South and Richards during the previous week.

 

Kaylie Pollard (LWE)

Pollard earned a 7-0 shutout win over STC North and let in just one goal in the Griffins' 8-1 victory over Jenison; East finished the Naperville Central Tournament with a 2-1 mark while also collecting victories over Andrew, Lockport and Sandburg during the week.

 

Lea Cejvan/Olivia Olszewski (Conant)

Cejvan scored the game-winner in overtime and scored 4 times in the Cougars' 5-3 win over Barrington; Olszewski scored 5 goals to lead the Cougars past Fremd 8-5; Rosas blocked 28 shots in both wins.

 

Madison Burkhalter/Emily VanGrinsven (Hersey)

Burkhalter tallied 9 scores and VanGrinsven made 32 stops as the Huskies claimed victory over Elk Grove, Libertyville and Meadows during Week 7.

 

Rylee Brower (Naperville Central)

Brower registered 12 goals in a pair of tournament wins over Jenison and LWE to help the Redhawks win their own event while also scoring 4 key goals in a 17-2 win over Metea Valley earlier in the week.
