THURSDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Hoffman 11 Fremd 9

Mike Christen tallied 4 scores and Adam Pasnicki added 3 goals as Hoffman knocked off Fremd 11-9. Logan Gizel also made 22 saves in the victory for the Hawks. Phil Schroeder registered 3 goals in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Lincoln-Way North 17 Bremen 8

Jake Roberts recorded 9 goals to lead the Phoenix to a 17-8 win over Bremen in a nonconference affair on Thursday.

 

New Trier 13 Glenbrook South 11

Konrad VonMoltke scored 3 goals and Jack Wiley, Jake Eaton, and Jordan Palmer each scored 2 times as New Trier fended off Glenbrook South 13-11. Igor Gryniv totaled 7 goals and 6 steals and Tom Meyer made 14 saves for the Titans in the loss.

 

Palatine 17 Conant 10

Kamil Mulawa scored 6 times and both John Giuliano and Justin Behrens added 4 goals apiece as Palatine upended Conant 17-10 on Thursday night. Dylan Weissman added 2 goals and Dan Sommerfield stopped 9 shots in the win for the Pirates. Palmer Lynch led the Cougars with 3 scores in the loss.

 

Prospect 12 Hersey 9

Will Schiavone scored 4 goals to help lift Prospect to a 12-9 win over Hersey in an MSL East matchup on Thursday. Stephen Petro scored 5 times in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Sandburg 20 Hinsdale South 3

Erik Neimeier scored 6 goals and Stephen Zieler added 5 scores to lead Sandburg to a 20-3 win over Hinsdale South.

 

Schaumburg 12 Barrington 1

Randy Carr scored 6 goals and Mike Gergen totaled 3 goals and 6 assists as Schaumburg cruised to a 12-1 win over Barrington on Thursday in an MSL West contest. Mike George stopped 12 shots and allowed just one goal in the win for the Saxons. Alex Aspell tallied one goal in the loss for the Broncos.

 

Von Steuben 13 Lane 7

Alvaro Ajredini totaled 11 goals to lead Von Steuben past Lane 13-7 in Public League action on Thursday. Eryk Puczek recorded 5 goals and drew 5 ejections in the loss for the Indians.

 

Fenwick Tournament

Fenwick 13 St Patrick 6

Matt Farmer scored 7 goals and Connor Brown added 4 scores as the hosts won the tournament opener 13-6 over St Patrick. Peter Blume recorded 4 goals and Andrew Morun notched 2 scores in the loss for the Shamrocks.

 

Lyons 11 Brother Rice 10

LT won another close encounter with Rice in the day's second game, as David Sekula totaled 5 goals and both Michael Brown and Danny McGuiness scored 2 times in an 11-10 win. Mike Mulcrone led the Crusaders with 7 goals and Dave Jackson notched 2 scores.

 

H-F 9 Curie 7

Luke Dobben scored 3 times and Caleb Peterson and Shay Banton each added 2 goals as H-F beat Curie 9-7. Eduardo Chavez registered 5 scores in the loss for the Condors.

 

Oak Park 18 Stevenson 7

Luke O'Connell scored 6 goals, Armando Lee put in 5 scores, and Troy Williams added 4 scores as Oak Park upended Stevenson 18-7 on Thursday. Kyle Plotsky scored 4 times to lead the Patriots in the losing effort.

 

St Ignatius 9 LWE 5

Kevin Barth totaled 4 goals and Brayden Amendola scored 3 times in the Wolfpack's 9-5 victory over LWE. Ryan Stuart tallied 3 goals in the loss for the Griffins.

 

H-F 13 St Patrick 6

Shay Banton scored 5 goals and both Henry Weeks and Luke Dobben added 2 scores apiece in the Vikings' 13-6 victory over St Patrick. Peter Blume tallied 4 times, while Andrew Morun added 2 scores in the loss for the Shamrocks.


GIRLS

Bremen 11 Lincoln-Way North 8

Emma Martinus and Hannah Schultz combined to score 8 goals in Bremen's 11-8 victory over Lincoln-Way North.

 

Conant 11 Palatine 7

Katie Varga recorded 5 goals and Jessica Southern scored 4 times to help lift Conant to an 11-7 victory over Palatine. Cougars' goalie Lucie Banahan made 9 saves in the win. Nicole Theis scored 4 times in the losing effort for the Pirates.

 

Fremd 13 Hoffman 2

Sam del Prado scored 4 goals and Sam Matuszewski added 3 scores as Fremd defeated Hoffman 13-2 on Thursday. Julie Conrath made 7 stops and Megan Kennedy added 2 goals in the win for the Vikings. Rachael Gallo and Vishwah Shah each scored once in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Morgan Park 18 Westinghouse 2

Gracie Wenner tallied 6 goals and both Briana Rainey and Jelena Bates scored 5 times as Morgan Park beat Westinghouse 18-2.

 

Prospect 7 Hersey 4

Lisa Mazur scored 3 times and Jessica Cavaiani added 2 scores as Prospect got a leg up in the MSL East title race with a 7-4 win over Hersey. Kallie Shields and Tori Shields each added one goal in the win for the Knights.

 

Sandburg 11 Hinsdale South 3

Jamie Pappanastos scored 5 goals and Catherine White tallied 3 goals in Sandburg's 11-3 nonconference win over Hinsdale South on Thursday.

 

Schaumburg 7 Barrington 5

Corinne Trujillo scored 5 goals and Kathleen Wagner made 7 saves to lead Schaumburg to a 7-5 victory over Barrington in a MSL West clash on Thursday night. The Saxons trailed 3-1 at halftime but outscored the Fillies 6-2 in the second half to earn the win. Laura Danhauer and Kate Luedtke each scored 2 goals and Brooke Fanslow made 9 saves in the loss for Barrington.

 

Stevenson 8 Oak Park 2

Karen Lowry scored 3 goals and Cheyenne Montijo and Tori St John each added 2 scores in Stevenson's 8-2 win over Oak Park. Lisa Michalowski recorded 9 saves in the win for the Patriots. Alison Coogan and Katie Hunt each scored once in the loss for the Huskies.

 

York 7 Resurrection 2

Cheryl Skukas recorded 2 goals and Alexa Saco, Carly Redmond, Jamie Redmond, Jennifer Woloszyk, and Katie Nelson each added one score apiece as York earned a 7-2 win over Resurrection.

#14 Glenbrook South at #15 New Trier (6:00pm) - The Titans and Trevians will meet in a key Central Suburban League fixture that could help define the regular season title race.

 

#17 Stagg at #10 Latin (6:00pm) - The Chargers face another tough opponent in the early part of the season as they travel to Chicago to take on Jacob Himmel and the Latin Romans.

 

#22 Waubonsie at #21 Neuqua (6:00pm) - The Warriors head to Neuqua looking for a bit of revenge after losing to the Wildcats 11-9 last weekend at the Naperville Tournament.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#17 Neuqua at #16 Waubonsie (6:00pm) - Waubonsie Valley won the first meeting between the teams 6-4 last Saturday, so expect another closely contested battle tonight when the teams meet in Aurora.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#24 Hersey at #22 Prospect (6:00pm) - The winner of this MSL East matchup could emerge as the early favorite in the conference title race.
