WEDNESDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

H-F 13 Stagg 9

Caleb Peterson totaled 4 goals as Homewood-Flossmoor used a 5-1 run in the final quarter to hold off Stagg 13-9 on Wednesday evening. Zach Golob scored 4 times in the loss for the Chargers.

 

Maine South 9 Maine West 5

Maine South used a 5-0 second half run to pull away from Maine West to claim a 9-5 decision in the Central Suburban League contest. Mike Oulvey scored 3 goals and Matt Kramer added 2 scores in the win for the Hawks.

 

Schaumburg 23 Meadows 3

Mike Gergen totaled 6 goals and 6 assists while Randy Carr also scored 6 times as Schaumburg defeated Meadows 23-3 on Wednesday. Saxons' goalie Mike George also registered 12 saves in the win. Kevin Fitzsimmons scored 2 goals in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

St Viator 9 Fremd 8

Peter Cleary scored 3 goals and both Gregg O'Connor and Ryan Boyer scored 2 times as St Viator knocked off Fremd 9-8. Ed Soler and Justin Imhoff also added one score apiece for the Lions in the victory.

 

STC East 18 Metea Valley 11

Stephen Mason totaled 8 goals and 6 steals to help lead STC East to their second straight win in an 18-11 decision over Metea Valley. Sam Schultz added 3 scores for the Saints, while both Matt Ballweg and Shaun Suescheck scored 2 goals in the victory. Alex Gidlow, Alex Vass, and Cameron Weber each scored 3 times in the loss for Metea.

 

Wheeling 10 Barrington 8

Andy Eiter scored 4 goals and Chris Prelletz tallied 3 scores as Wheeling used a 4-0 run in the fourth quarter to break a 6-6 tie to emerge with a 10-8 victory over the Broncos. Alex Fricke recorded 3 scores and Tom West added 2 scores in the losing effort.


GIRLS

Fremd 12 St Viator 3

Sam Matuszewski recorded 5 goals, Megan Kennedy scored 2 times, and Julie Conrath stopped 9 shots in Fremd's 12-3 win over St Viator on Wednesday. Emily Orlowski, Emma Nielson, Jessica Xenakis, Lauren Zambelli, and Sam del Prado also chipped in with goal apiece in the victory for the Vikings. Eileen Mallof scored 2 goals, Megan Shover scored once, and Stephanie Nolan made 13 saves in the losing effort for the Lions.

 

H-F 12 Richards 1

Rebecca Mathews scored 6 goals, Hannah Ongman tallied 3 scores, and Michelle Mayer scored 2 times in H-F's 12-1 win over Richards. Anna Tenny also added a goal, while goalie Sophie Schloen recorded 11 saves in the victory.

 

Mother McAuley 13 Marian 4

Jackie Knightly tallied 6 goals, Vicky Arciniega added 3 scores, and Bri Nolan scored 2 times as Mother McAuley beat Marian 13-4. Amanda Jonakaitis registered 2 scores in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Mundelein 20 Palatine 3

Alexis Jones scored 7 goals and Sarah Honda scored 3 times to help lead Mundelein past Palatine 20-3.

 

Naperville Central 15 Andrew 3

Abbey Kerth scored 8 times and Julia Campbell made 8 saves as Naperville Central topped Andrew 15-3. Gracie May and Robyn Stanley also scored 2 goals each for the Redhawks. Abbey Wrobel scored 2 goals in the loss for the T-Bolts.

 

St Ignatius 11 Northside 7

Kate Stelnicki and Maggie Maloney each scored 3 goals to lead St Ignatius past Northside 11-7 on Wednesday. Kelly Buchanan scored 3 goals, Evelyn Roback-Navarro added 2 goals, and Cecile Franke stopped 12 shots and added 3 steals in the losing effort.

 

Stevenson 17 Latin 7

Cheyenne Montijo and Erin McCook both scored 3 goals to help lift Stevenson past Latin 17-7 on Wednesday night. Cami Haas, Brittany Gartenberg, Karen Lowry and Tori St John all added 2 goals apiece for the Patriots, while goalie Lisa Michalowski made 8 saves in the victory. Ashley Henderson led the Romans with 6 scores, while Latin goalie Meghna Patiath made 9 saves in the loss.

 

WEDNESDAY'S GAME PREVIEWS        

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#10 H-F at #20 Stagg (5:00pm) - The Vikings head to Palos Hills in search of their second win of the season against a tough Stagg team making their season debut.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Fremd at #24 St Viator (5:00pm) - The Lions look for their second win in three tries against a Fremd team coming off a season-opening victory over Niles West.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#16 Latin at #8 Stevenson (6:30pm) - Two Top 25 teams get their respective seasons started with a tough fixture in Lincolnshire on Wednesday evening.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#24 St Viator at #9 Fremd (5:00pm) - The Lions look to win their second straight game as they  battle a Fremd team playing in their first game after coming off a 30-2 season.
