TUESDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Curie 24 Lane 2

Erik Hernandez registered 7 goals in Curie's 24-2 victory over Lane.

 

Fremd 20 Niles West 3

Phil Schroeder recorded 6 goals and both Connor McGuire and JP French scored 3 goals as Fremd defeated Niles West 20-3. Max Plichta stopped 8 shots in the win for the Vikings. Ryan Miller scored 2 goals in the loss for the Wolves.

 

Hoffman 21 Maine West 4

Adam Pasnicki scored 6 goals, Sang M. Han added 4 scores, and both Mike Christen and Sang W. Han scored 3 times as Hoffman beat Maine West 21-4 on Tuesday.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 19 Hinsdale South 2

Shay Banton recorded 6 goals and Kevin Kuchta scored 3 times as H-F cruised to a 19-2 victory over Hinsdale South.

 

Juarez 16 Morgan Park 11

Josue Hernandez tallied 9 goals and Antonio Reyes added 5 scores as Juarez beat Morgan Park 16-11. Richard Leigh recorded 6 goals in the loss.

 

Latin 13 Lake Forest 2

Eddie Wickes scored 4 goals and Evan Dent added 2 scores as Latin topped Lake Forest 13-2 in nonconference play.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 18 Bremen 14

Pete Smith scored 6 goals and  Petar Jackovich added 5 scores as LWC knocked off Bremen 18-14 on Tuesday. Matt Duda tacked on 3 scores for the Knights, while goalie Justin Bennett stopped 10 shots in the win. Dan Minnich scored 5 times in the loss for the Braves.

 

Lyons 12 Oak Park 8

LT traveled to Oak Park and came away with a 12-8 win in the West Suburban Conference opener for both teams; David Sekula scored 6 goals and Kovas Zygas added 4 scores in the win for the Lions.

 

St Viator 19 Hersey 7

Ryan Boyer tallied 6 goals and Peter Cleary notched 5 scores as St Viator rolled to a 19-7 win over Hersey. Justin Imhoff recorded 3 goals and Gregg O'Connor scored 2 times in the Lions' win.

 

Stevenson 9 Evanston 8

Alex Shkiler scored 3 goals, Kyle Plotsky added 2 scores, and Robbie O'Brien stopped 15 shots as Stevenson hung on for a 9-8 win over Evanston in Linconshire on Tuesday night.

 

Wheeling 8 Maine East 7

Andy Eiter scored 3 goals and Daniel Kubeck added 2 scores as Wheeling defeated Maine East 8-7. The Wildcats used a 4-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Blue Demons. Matt Wiegel scored 4 times in the loss for Maine East.

 

Young 18 Von Steuben 8

Edgar Lopez recorded 7 goals and Seth Hughes added 3 scores as Young defeated Von Steuben 18-8 in the Public League opener for both teams.


GIRLS

Curie 7 Lane 6 (OT)

Nancy Patron scored the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime to lift Curie to a 7-6 win over Lane. Erika Martinez scored 3 goals in the win for the Condors.

 

Lyons 17 Oak Park 3

LT began their title defense with a 17-3 victory over WSC rival Oak Park on Tuesday. Alison Coogan scored 2 times and Katie Hunt added a goal in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Morgan Park 12 Juarez 4

Jelena Bates scored 6 goals and Janelle added 3 scores as Morgan Park topped Juarez 12-4.

 

Naperville Central 11 Marian 3

Emily Sejna poured in 8 goals and Julia Campbell stopped 7 shots in Naperville Central's 11-3 victory over Marian. Abbey Kerth, Claire Wirtz, and Gracie May each chipped in with one goal apiece in the win. Amy Martello, Carlee Wieser, and Paige Wieser each scored once in the loss, while Spartans goalie Devin Green made 7 saves.

 

Neuqua Valley 6 Schaumburg 4

Tricia Bannister scored 3 goals and Rachel Lehman totaled 2 goals and 8 steals as Neuqua Valley held off Schaumburg 6-4.

 

Northside 15 Payton 1

Kelly Buchanan scored 6 goals and Megan Gillespie added 4 scores to lead Northside to a 15-1 victory over Payton. Cecile Franke stopped 13 shots and made 3 steals in the win for the Mustangs, their second of the season.

 

St Viator 7 Hersey 6

Eileen Mallof scored 3 goals and Alli Lardner, Maddie Wimberly, Margaret Stefanowski, and Stephanie Nolan each added one goal apiece as St Viator edged Hersey 7-6. Christine Rovani tallied 4 goals in the loss for the Huskies.

 

TUESDAY'S GAME PREVIEWS        

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#6 Lyons at #2 Oak Park (6:00pm) - It doesn't get much bigger than this one on the second day of the season. The West Suburban Conference powers square off at Oak Park tomorrow evening.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#29 Evanston at #17 Stevenson (5:00pm) - Both teams will be looking to prove they are for real in their respective season openers.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#33 Oak Park at #1 Lyons (6:00pm) - LT begins their title defense against West Suburban conference rivals Oak Park on Tuesday.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#24 St Viator at #26 Hersey (4:30pm) - Two evenly matched Arlington Heights teams square off in a nonconference affair.
