BOYS

Fremd 9 Schaumburg 8

Dan Knudson recorded 3 goals as Fremd surprised Schaumburg 9-8 in MSL West action on Tuesday night. Mike Gergen recorded 5 goals in the loss for the Saxons.

 

Glenbrook South 14 Maine East 4

Igor Gryniv scored 8 goals and Will Porter totaled 3 goals and 4 assists as GBS defeated Maine East 14-4.

 

Lockport 17 Metea Valley 4

Brian Cavanaugh and Dave Hir each scored 3 times in Lockport's 17-4 win over Metea Valley.

 

Loyola 14 Stevenson 9

Charlie Dowdle totaled 7 goals and Robbie O'Connor made 15 saves to help lead Loyola to a 14-9 victory over Stevenson.

 

Northside 16 Lane 14

Cyrus Deloy scored 8 times, Konrad Kubicki added 3 goals, and Michael Meyer tallied 2 scores in Northside's 16-14 win over Lane.

 

Palatine 19 Barrington 7

Kamil Mulawa scored 9 goals and Dan Sommerfield made 9 saves as Palatine used a 6-0 run in the second period to take a 9-2 lead at the half and never looked back in a 19-7 win over Barrington. Christian Kalfas also scored 3 times in the win for the Pirates. James Rodney tallied 3 goals in the loss for the Broncos.

 

Sandburg 19 Bremen 1

Erik Niemeier scored 8 goals and Cody Corridino added 5 scores as Sandburg topped Bremen 19-1.

 

Stagg 20 Richards 9

Zach Golob recorded 5 goals and steals and 10 players recorded goals in Stagg's 20-9 victory over Richards.

 

Waubonsie Valley 14 STC North 13

Tyler Hunt scored the game-winning goal with 1:13 remaining in regulation to help lift Waubonsie Valley to a 14-13 victory over STC North. The North Stars made up a four-goal difference in the final quarter, but Hunt's goal made the difference and the Warriors' defense came up big in the final minute to hold on for the win. Andrew Preusse scored 4 times in the loss, while Justin Jacobson and Kyle Passini each added 3 scores for the North Stars.


GIRLS

Barrington 14 Palatine 9

Catherine Byron totaled 5 goals and Chloe Padula added 3 scores in Barrington's 14-9 victory over Palatine on Tuesday. Brooke Fanslow and Erin Moston combined to stop 11 shots for the Fillies, while Kate Luedtke and Laura Danhauer also scored 2 times in the win. Paige Wainwright scored 3 goals in the loss for the Pirates.

 

Conant 20 Hoffman 10

Katie Varga scored 6 goals, Kristi Burke added 5 goals, and both Andie Cobb and Jessica Southern recorded 3 scores as Conant powered their way past Hoffman 20-10 on Tuesday. Lucie Banahan also made 11 saves for the Cougars in an ejection-filled game that saw the teams combine for 20 kickouts. Rachel Gallo recorded 6 goals and Sharon Sturnfield added 3 scores in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Fremd 11 Schaumburg 2

Sam Matuszewski scored 3 goals and both Lauren Zambelli and Sam del Prado recorded 2 scores as Fremd beat Schaumburg by an 11-2 score in the MSL West opener for both teams. Julie Conrath stopped 9 shots in the win for the Vikings. Ashley Johnson and Rachel Fish each scored once in the loss for the Saxons.

 

Loyola 11 Stevenson 9

Brittany Wallace scored 6 goals and Caitlin Sershon added 2 scores to help lead Loyola to an 11-9 victory over Stevenson. Evan Swenson, Kate Ansani, and Sarah Gross each added one score apiece in the win for the Ramblers.

 

Northside 7 Lane 3

Megan Quigley scored 4 goals, Kelly Buchanan added 3 scores, and Cecile Franke totaled 10 saves and 3 steals as Northside improved to 5-3 on the season with a 7-3 victory over Lane.

 

Richards 12 Hinsdale South 4

Lisa Gorski recorded 8 goals and Lauren Gorski stopped 15 shots as Richards knocked off Hinsdale South 12-4.

 

Sandburg 14 Bremen 11

Jamie Pappanastos registered 5 goals and Tara Capouch added 4 scores (including two key fourth quarter goals) as the Eagles jumped out to an early 6-1 lead and held on for a 14-11 victory over Bremen on Tuesday night. Hannah Schultz scored 4 times and Emma Martinus added 3 goals in the losing effort for the Red Jaguars.

 

Young 13 Juarez 2

Nayeli Langarica tallied 4 scores and Kim Orton scored 3 times as Young won their season-opener 13-2 over Juarez.

 

TUESDAY'S GAME PREVIEWS        

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Latin at McHenry (5:00pm) - The Romans and Warriors meet for the second time in four days after Latin won the first meeting 10-7 at the Palatine Tournament last Saturday.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Loyola at Stevenson (6:00pm) - Stevenson (2-0) will put their perfect record to the test against a Loyola team looking to regroup from last weekend's 0-4 performance at the Palatine Tournament.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Loyola at Stevenson (5:00pm) - The Ramblers head to Lincolnshire to take on the Patriots in a clash of Top 10 teams.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Sandburg at Bremen (5:00pm) - The Eagles will look to continue their fast start after finishing with a 3-0 record at the New Trier Tournament, while Bremen will look to build off last week's win over LWC.
