BOYS

Mundelein 14 Homewood-Flossmoor 12

Mundelein outscored the Vikings 4-2 in the final period to emerge from the Saturday fixture with a 14-12 victory on Saturday morning. Will Davidson totaled 8 goals in the win, while David Dickinson, Frank Lukacs, and Pat Falconer each scored 3 times in the win for the Mustangs. Russell Maanum scored 5 goals, Shay Banton added 3 scores, and Alec Wojack and Kevin Kuchta each recorded 2 scores in the loss for H-F.


GIRLS

LWE Tournament

Lincoln-Way East 7 Lincoln-Way North 3

Alyssa Toland, Julie Warren, and Zoe McCabe each scored 2 times as the Griffins defeated Lincoln-Way North 7-3 in the first game of the LWE Tournament on Friday night. Toland also recorded 5 steals and 2 assists in the win for LWE.

 

Andrew 11 Richards 7

The T-Bolts won their tournament opener over Richards 11-7 behind the production of Amanda Kuchan (3 goals), Allie Fisher (2 goals, 9 steals), Kelly Baumgartner (2 goals), and Leah McCarthy (2 goals).

 

Lincoln-Way North 11 Riverside-Brookfield 3

Jess Berringer recorded 12 saves to help lift Lincoln-Way North to an 11-3 victory over Riverside-Brookfield.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 18 Richards 5

Danijela Jackovich recorded 4 goals and 5 steals and Sarah Hanly added 3 goals and 4 steals as LWC defeated Richards 18-5 on Friday night. Ashley Knight, Charlene Dundek, Jessica Graf, and Markie Kulovitz each scored 2 times in the victory for the Knights.

 

Lincoln-Way East 14 Riverside-Brookfield 2

Alyssa Toland totaled 3 goals, 3 assists, and 3 steals in LWE's 14-2 victory over Riverside-Brookfield. The win helped the Griffins  advance to the title game on Saturday afternoon against the winner of Andrew/LWC.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Andrew 6

Danijela Jackovich scored 4 times and Jessica Graf added 2 goals as Lincoln-Way Central advanced to the title game of the LWE Tournament with an 11-6 victory over Andrew. Kelsey Martiniak recorded 11 saves in the victory for the Knights. Meanwhile, Leah McCarthy scored 4 times and Amanda Kuchan scored 2 goals in the loss for the T-Bolts.

 

Andrew 7 Lincoln-Way North 6

Kelly Baumgartner led Andrew with 2 goals and 5 steals as the T-Bolts defeated Lincoln-Way North to win the 3rd place game of the LWE tournament. Alyssa Walters, Amanda Kuchan, Kelly McDonough , and Leah McCarthy each added a score, while Allie Fisher contributed a goal and 10 steals for the T-Bolts. Andrew goalie Jill Jesionowski recorded 7 saves in the win. Taylor Nelson led LWN with 5 goals and Jenna Tasic added one goal in the losing effort. Goalie Jess Berringer also made 11 saves for the Phoenix.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 12 Lincoln-Way East 6

Lincoln-Way Central claimed the LWE Tournament title for the third-straight season with a 12-6 victory over the host Griffins. Danijela Jackovich, who scored 15 total goals in three games, led the Knights with 7 goals and 2 assists in the win, while Sarah Hanly also recorded 3 goals for LWC. Jessica Graf also scored 2 times and goalie Kelsey Martiniak recorded 14 saves in the victory for the Knights.

 

WEEKEND GAME PREVIEWS

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#8 Mundelein at #10 Homewood-Flossmoor (Saturday - 10:00am)

The weekend's biggest game takes place on Saturday morning at H-F when #8 Mundelein pays a visit to the tenth-ranked Vikings. The Mustangs (12-0) will look to remain undefeated in 2010 and are coming off a narrow win over Missouri's top-ranked team, while Homewood-Flossmoor is off to a 6-2 start and earned an overtime win over Lincoln-Way North on Thursday.

#12 Lincoln-Way East vs Lincoln-Way North (Friday - 4:30pm)

The opening game of the Lincoln-Way Tournament could ultimately determine who plays in Saturday afternoon's title game;

Lincoln-Way East Tournament

The six-team tournament should feature some tight contests between the likes of Lincoln-Way East, Lincoln-Way Central, Lincoln-Way North, Andrew, Riverside-Brookfield, and Richards. The opening-round games get underway on Friday and culminate with the title game at 1:30pm on Saturday.
