5:00pm #5 Lockport at #8 Sandburg

The Porters and Eagles square off for the second time this season in a crucial SWSC battle; a win for the hosts gets them one step closer to clinching the Blue division title, while a Porters' victory would make for a three-way tie between the two squads and H-F. Lockport won the first meeting 13-11 on April 1 behind Dan Oldendorf's 6-goal performance.

The Hawks go on the road to take on the Vikings in an intriguing nonconference battle that the winner will definitely use for momentum as they head into their respective conference tournaments.

The Vikings head to Oak Park looking to pull off an upset when they take on the top-ranked Friars, who are coming off a weekend in which they traveled to Michigan to win the Rockford Tournament.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Lockport 10 Sandburg 8

Dan Oldendorf registered 7 goals and John Goetz made 15 saves as Lockport held off Sandburg 10-8 on Monday night. David Presz, Jacob Speechley, and Jake Knowles each added one score in the win. Tomas Serrano totaled 4 goals and Kevin Tunney scored 3 times in the loss for the Eagles.

 

CPS TOURNAMENT

Payton-Jones 17 Westinghouse 6

Joey Walner totaled 6 goals as the Grizzlies stayed alive in the CPS Tournament with a 17-6 victory over Westinghouse.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Fremd 14 Maine South 13 (2 OT)

JP French totaled 8 goals and Michael Goedken stopped 17 shots as Fremd outlasted Maine South 14-13 in sudden-death overtime on Monday in nonconference play. Matt Kramer and Makai DeNeve-Arnam each scored 5 times and Kyle Christie notched 3 scores in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 14 Lincoln-Way East 7

Alex Smith scored 4 times, Tristan Funk put in 3 goals, and Kyle Forsythe and Ryan Sterling each netted 2 scores in the Knights' 14-7 triumph over LWE. Mike Petrizzo also saved 9 shots in the LWC victory.

 

Lincoln-Way North 17 Lincoln-Way West 12

Curtis Thrun put in 5 goals and Pat Budney notched 3 scores as LWN outscored LWW 17-12 on Monday in a SWSC Red contest. Kurt Butterfield scored 9 times in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Stagg 14 Andrew 9

Ryan Petersen recorded 5 goals, Nick Amendola added 4 scores, and Peter Krivanec made 14 saves as the Chargers jumped out to an 8-2 halftime lead en route to a 14-9 win over Andrew. Chuck Walters and Eric Tamulonis both scored 3 times in the loss for the T-Bolts.

 

Whitney Young 14 Metea Valley 13

Seth Hughes scored 11 goals, including two scored in the final two minutes to tie the game, while Dan Shumaker put in a rebound goal with 0:31 remaining as the Dolphins earned a dramatic 14-13 win over Metea Valley on Monday.

 

York 13 Lane 11

Alex Waldherr and Matt Rodriguez each scored 4 times as York got past Lane 13-11 in a nonconference contest on Monday. Jake Boettcher totaled 4 goals and 3 assists and Matt Gullickson and Ricky Quezada both scored 3 times for the Indians, who led 11-9 midway through the fourth quarter before a 4-0 run by the Dukes helped them earn the victory. Luke Grygo also made 12 saves in the narrow loss for Lane.

Sandburg 6 Lockport 5

Maggie Foley totaled 3 scores to help Sandburg hold off Lockport 6-5 on Monday in a SWSC Blue contest on Monday night. Alona King also made 10 saves in the Eagles' hard-fought win.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Andrew 23 Stagg 3

Megan Hofer totaled 7 goals and 7 assists and Genny McCarthy netted 5 goals as Andre cruised to a 23-3 win over Stagg. Alicia Tebo added 3 goals and Anna Tamulonis saved 14 shots in the T-Bolts' victory. Natalie Graves led the Chargers with 2 scores in the losing effort.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 12 Lincoln-Way East 7

Danijela Jackovich poured in 7 goals, Kristi Howe notched 4 scores, and Megan McLean tallied one score in the Knights' 12-7 win over the Griffins. Beth Senese added 3 assists for the victors on Monday night.

 

Lincoln-Way North 14 Lincoln-Way West 5

Sam Klosak scored 5 goals, Cheyenne DeGraff put in 3 scores, and Kelly Pender blocked 11 shots as the Phoenix beat LWW 14-5 on Monday.
