MATCH OF THE DAY

6:00pm #8 Sandburg at #13 Naperville Central

The Eagles head to Naperville to take on the Redhawks in a nonconference fixture where both teams will be looking for a key late-season win to give them a boost of momentum as they prepare for the playoffs.

 

 

MSL CHAMPIONSHIP

6:00pm #40 Hersey at #12 Conant

The Huskies won the MSL East division for the first time in team history, but they'll be the underdogs on Thursday when they take on MSL West division winner Conant on Thursday night.

CPS TOURNAMENT

The Public League quarterfinals begins on Thursday at Whitney Young with four games that will determine Saturday's championship round lineup. The hosts take on Lincoln Park in the night's first game, top-seed Curie battles Von Steuben, Lane faces Payton-Jones, and Northside looks to get past an optimistic Lake View side in the nightcap.

 

CSL TOURNAMENT

The Central Suburban League features two play-in games that will help finalize Friday's quarterfinal round setup. Deerfield seeks their first win against a conference opponent when they face Glenbrook North at 4:30pm, followed by a battle between Highland Park and Maine East that will determine who will face top seed New Trier on Friday.

5:00pm #9 Sandburg at #10 Naperville Central

The Eagles and Redhawks get together for a rematch after the visitors beat the hosts 6-5 back in April 19 at the Naperville Central Tournament. Can the Redhawks even the score with Sandburg, or will the Eagles continue to build on their late-season momentum with a tough road victory?

 

 

MATCH OF THE DAY II

7:00pm #7 New Trier at #12 Naperville North

The Trevians head to Naperville looking for one more big nonconference win in preparation for the CSL Tournament over the weekend. Meanwhile, the Huskies are looking to wrap up their regular season with a high-quality win over a Top 10 team as they gear up for the 2013 playoffs.

CSL TOURNAMENT

Deerfield seeks their first win against a conference opponent when they match up with one-win Highland Park on Thursday night in the play-in round of the CSL Tournament.

 

MCAC TOURNAMENT

The Catholic League quarterfinal round gets underway at 4:30pm at Fenwick with the hosts doing battle with DeLaSalle, who is playing in their first conference tournament in 2013. The winner will face either Marian or St Ignatius, who play at 5:30pm in the night's second quarterfinal. On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Mother McAuley faces Resurrection and third-seed Loyola takes on St Viator. All four winners advance to Saturday morning's semifinal round.

 

MSL CROSSOVERS

The postponed contest between Palatine and Prospect wraps up the Mid-Suburban League's postseason crossover format; both teams finished third in their respective divisions in 2013.

Sandburg 13 Naperville Central 8

Kevin Tunney notched 6 scores and Mike O'Malley scored 4 times in the Eagles' 13-8 triumph over the Redhawks on Thursday. Tomas Serrano also pitched with 6 assists for the victors.

 

 

MSL CHAMPIONSHIP

Conant 14 Hersey 3

Jon Burke totaled 4 goals and the trio of Connor Schmitz, Kyle Bradberry, and Matt Engebretson scored 2 goals each as Conant won the MSL title by beating Hersey 14-3. Aly Ahmed made 7 saves in the Cougars' victory.

 

CPS TOURNAMENT

Curie 18 Von Steuben 1

Ivan Ariza poured in 8 goals and Marcos Hernandez notched 7 scores as the Condors earned an 18-1 win over Von Steuben. Jeronimo Chavez also chipped in with 2 scores in the victory.

 

Whitney Young 16 Lincoln Park 8

Duncan McDonald and Seth Hughes both scored 5 goals and Hector Mendez, Juan Reyes, and Tony Romo each tallied 2 scores in the Dolphins' 16-8 quarterfinal round win in the CPS Tournament on Thursday.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Lyons 14 Neuqua Valley 8

Joe Shannon scored 5 goals and Michael Dow, Nathan Kriha, and Sean McMahon each scored 2 times as Lyons beat Neuqua Valley 14-8. Will Russell led the Wildcats with 3 scores in the loss.

MATCH OF THE DAY I

Naperville Central 7 Sandburg 6

Leslie Calabrese and Michelle Spaits both scored 2 goals and Erin Reagan saved 9 shots as the Redhawks erased a 5-1 first-half deficit to edge Sandburg 7-6 in a nonconference matchup. Kristina Altuve, Madison Nervig, and Sarah Borton each scored once, while Reagan made 2 key saves in the final two minutes to ensure the Redhawks' victory. Cara Hays and Sarah Dolitsky both scored 2 times and Alona King made 14 saves in the Eagles' one-goal loss.

 

 

MATCH OF THE DAY II

New Trier 6 Naperville North 4

Alexana Astor recorded 5 goals and Samantha Padavic netted one score as the Trevians beat Naperville North 6-4 on Thursday.

 

MCAC TOURNAMENT

St Ignatius 15 Marian 5

Jenny Stelnicki blocked 9 shots and nine players tallied goals for the Wolfpack as they beat Marian 15-5 to move to the Catholic League semifinals.

 

Loyola 18 St Viator 5

Evan Swenson, Katie Lynch, and Marta Considine each scored 4 goals and Allison Sajnaj added 3 scores in Loyola's 18-5 victory over St Viator. Meredith O'Brien saved 10 shots in the win for the Ramblers, who move to the semifinal round to take on Mother McAuley on Saturday.

 

MSL CROSSOVERS

Palatine 9 Prospect 4

Rachel Chumbook totaled 5 goals and Caroline Wojtas put in 2 scores in the Pirates' 9-4 victory over the Knights in the last of the MSL Crossover games in 2013. Ashley Theis and Emily Seidl each scored once and Kim Butler made 14 saves for the victors.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES
Elk Grove 12 Maine West 9

Alexa Zajac and Kathryn Noonan both netted 4 goals and Christine Juhas notched 2 scores in Elk Grove's 12-9 victory over Maine West. Carly Romano poured in 6 goals and Kara Atwood added 2 goals for the Warriors.

 

Lincoln-Way North 14 Waubonsie Valley 1

Sam Klosak tallied 6 goals to help lead the Phoenix to a 14-1 victory over Waubonsie Valley.
