TOURNAMENT RECAP (May 4)

 

Naperville Central Sweeps the Competition at Stevenson

The Redhawks traveled to Lincolnshire for the second straight week to earn three victories on Saturday to win the Stevenson Tournament. Central beat the hosts 7-2 in the tournament opener, earned a decisive 9-1 win over LWC, and held off Neuqua Valley 7-6 to head home with a 3-0 record. Christian May scored 5 goals and Connor Lamb, Joe Bigenwald, and Nick Walker each tallied 3 scores at the event. Goalie Matt Prestinario also saved 35 shots, including a 15-save performance in the one-goal win over Neuqua Valley to end the event.

 

Saturday's Game Recaps

Naperville Central 7 Stevenson 2

Christian May and Nick Walker both scored 2 goals to help the Redhawks get past Stevenson 7-2 in the first game of the Patriots' tournament. Luke Ryan and Matt Laboe each scored once in the victory. Alex Kapecki and Kurt Holzer both scored once in the loss for the hosts.

 

Naperville Central 9 Lincoln-Way Central 1

Connor Lamb, Kyle Stablein, and Joe Bigenwald each netted 2 goals to help Naperville Central beat LWC 9-1 on Saturday. Ryan Sterling tallied the lone goal for the Knights in the loss.

 

Naperville Central 7 Neuqua Valley 6

Christian May scored 2 goals as the Redhawks held off Neuqua Valley 7-6 on Saturday to finish the event with a 3-0 record. Will Russell recorded 3 goals and Alex Thoele notched 2 scores in the loss.

 

Stevenson 12 Lincoln-Way Central 3

Mitchell Sokolsky racked up 7 goals to lead Stevenson past LWC 12-3. Tristan Funk netted 2 scores in the loss for the Knights.

 

Neuqua Valley 9 Lincoln-Way Central 7

Joey Delasandro recorded 4 goals and Alex Thoele, Ian Ivkovich, and Will Russell each scored 2 times in the Wildcats' 9-7 win over LWC. Alex McCormick notched 3 scores and both Kyle Forsythe and Tristan Funk put in 2 goals in the loss for Central.

 

Stevenson 12 Neuqua Valley 10

Mitchell Sokolsky scored 5 goals and Varun Mummadi netted 4 scores to lead Stevenson to a 12-10 win over Neuqua Valley. Alex Thoele scored 3 times and Will Russell notched 2 scores in the loss for Neuqua.
