Glenbrook North Sectional Preview - BOYS
In the past three years, this sectional has produced three different state qualifiers. Loyola and New Trier placed fourth in the state in their most recent appearances, while Evanston finished third in 2005. Loyola earned the #1 seed with wins over New Trier and Evanston this season, in addition to quality wins over teams like Brother Rice and Mundelein. The Ramblers only beat the Trevians by one goal, while New Trier earned the #2 seed after beating Evanston by one late in the regular season. The Wildkits, favored in their opening round matchup against #6 seed Glenbrook North, need one win in hopes of a rematch with their main rivals from Winnetka. The depth in the GBN Sectional is strong, as MSL East champion Prospect/Wheeling garnered the #4 seed and will do battle with surging #5 seed Glenbrook South in the opening round. For New Trier to advance, they must get past #7 seed Hersey, while Loyola awaits the winner of the play-in game between #8 seed St Viator and #9 seed Maine East.
