Sectional Champ

PALATINE

Palatine Sectional Preview - BOYS
The Palatine Sectional almost looks like a Mid-Suburban League tournament, with only a few teams missing. Since that is the case, MSL West champ Palatine went undefeated in the conference, making them the heavy favorite and the #1 seed at their own sectional. They face first-year team Schaumburg (#8 seed) in the opening round, with the winner advancing to take on either #4 seed Buffalo Grove or #5 seed Hoffman Estates. The main challenger for the Pirates is #2 seed Conant, whose only loss in the MSL was an 8-2 defeat to Palatine. The Cougars do battle with #7 seed Rolling Meadows, and the winner will face either #3 Fremd or #6 Barrington in the semifinals on Friday night.

KEYS

- Davis, Wood, Gryzbek, Tucker: Depth and speed make Palatine heavy favorites

- Krahn: Offensive threat is tough to stop and could carry the Cougars

- Dickelman: Fremd goalie should be ready and has great experience

- Buffalo Grove: Depth and toughness make the Bison dangerous

- Ashbrook: Can the Hoffman goalie keep the Hawks' games low scoring?

- Heer, Cobb, Davis: Offensive leaders are the key to their teams' chances
