THURSDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Andrew 14 Lincoln-Way Central 11

Shane Garren recorded 5 goals and Joris Malkevicius added 3 scores to help lead Andrew to a 14-11 victory over LWC. Rick Osty and James Fischer each added 2 scores in the win for the T-Bolts. Petar Jackovich scored 7 times in the loss for the Knights.

 

Bremen 16 Shepard 6

Alex Putz, Josh Williams, and Kris Arnold each scored 3 goals to lead Bremen to a 16-6 win over Shepard.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 12 Lincoln-Way North 1

Shay Banton scored 6 goals, Caleb Peterson added 5 scores, and Jake Bodnar stopped 7 shots and allowed just one goal as H-F downed LWN 12-1.

 

Morgan Park 13 Lane 12

Richard Leigh scored 3 of his 6 goals during a 5-1 fourth quarter run as Morgan Park earned a 13-12 comeback win over Lane on Thursday night.

 

Northside 12 Lincoln Park 11

Michael Meyer made a steal with 0:11 remaining and assisted Simon Kafka's buzzer-beating goal from midpool as Northside beat Lincoln Park 12-11. Cyrus Deloye recorded 6 goals and Kafka added 3 tallies in the win for the Mustangs. Axel Playner put in 3 goals in the loss for the Lions.

 

Palatine 16 Fremd 7

Kamil Mulawa and Keith McIntosh both scored 4 goals and Justin Behrens added 3 scores as Palatine jumped out to a 9-2 halftime lead and beat Fremd 16-7 on Thursday. Dan Sommerfield made 10 saves in the win for the Pirates. Phil Schroeder scored 2 goals in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Sandburg 14 Bradley 2

Erik Niemeier totaled 4 goals and Tony Rogina made 12 saves as Sandburg downed Bradley 14-2.

 

Schaumburg 10 Hoffman 8

Randy Carr and Matt McMullen both scored 3 goals and Mike George stopped 12 shots as Schaumburg topped Hoffman 10-8. Mike Christen, Sang M Han, and Sang W Han each scored 2 times and Logan Gizel made 14 saves in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Stagg 16 Lockport 11

Drew Stoffel recorded 6 goals as Stagg handed Lockport their first loss of the season, a 16-11 win for the Chargers.


GIRLS

Andrew 9 Lincoln-Way Central 7

Leah McCarthy scored 4 goals and Kelly Baumgartner added 2 goals and the Andrew defense held off a late rally by LWC to emerge with a 9-7 victory on Thursday evening. The T-Bolts pulled out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter and held the Knights scoreless from then until halftime to take a 7-1 lead into the second half. Daniejela Jackovich, who scored the lone goal for the Knights in the first half, added 3 more scores in a 6-2 second half run, but the T-Bolts were able to hold on for the narrow victory.

 

Conant 9 Barrington 7

Katie Varga scored 6 goals and Lucie Banahan stopped 10 shots as Conant beat Barrington 9-7 in MSL West action on Thursday. Chloe Padula and Laura Danhauer each scored 2 times and Brooke Fanslow blocked 11 shots in the loss for the Fillies.

 

Fremd 16 Palatine 3

Emily McCarthy, Lauren Zambelli, Sam del Prado, and Sam Matuszewski each scored 2 goals and eight other players tallied goals for Fremd as they beat Palatine 16-3 on Thursday. Julie Conrath stopped 9 shots in the win for the Vikings. Nicole Theis scored all 3 goals for the Pirates in the losing effort.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 15 Lincoln-Way North 0

Michelle Mayer and Rebecca Mathews each scored 5 goals and Sophie Schloen made 8 saves and earned a shutout as H-F beat LWN 15-0 on Thursday evening.

 

Lane 16 Morgan Park 5

Cassidy O'Connell paved the way to Lane's 16-5 victory over Morgan Park with 8 goals on Thursday evening.

 

Lincoln-Way East 11 Lincoln-Way West 7

Zoe McCabe scored 4 goals and Jill Connolly and Trisha Paul combined to make 20 saves in LWE's 11-7 win over LWW. Lauren Majewski scored all 7 goals in the losing effort for the Warriors.

 

Lockport 16 Stagg 8

The Porters earned their first win of the season as they knocked off Stagg 16-8 on Thursday night.

 

Loyola 16 Evanston 7

Evan Swenson scored 7 goals and Brittany Wallace tacked on 6 goals in Loyola's 16-7 victory over Evanston. Kristina Alexander also stopped 9 shots in the win for the Ramblers.

 

Mother McAuley 9 Bremen 6

Jackie Knightly totaled 4 goals and Adrianna Izquierdo added 2 scores to lead Mother McAuley past Bremen 9-6. Sarah Abbott and Grace Williamson combined to make 10 saves in the victory for the Mighty Macs. Jessie Mroczek and Sam Martinus each scored 2 times in the loss for the Red Jaguars.

 

Schaumburg 17 Hoffman 5

Nine players tallied goals as Schaumburg beat Hoffman 17-5. Rachael Gallo scored 4 times in the loss for the Hawks.

 

THURSDAY'S GAME PREVIEWS

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Stagg at Lockport (5:00pm) - The Porters will put their perfect record to the test when they host to a well-balanced Stagg team on Thursday night.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Hoffman at Schaumburg (4:30pm) - The intensity in this MSL West matchup will be tough to top if it's anything like the first meeting between the two teams; Schaumburg won 11-9 back on the first Saturday of the season.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Loyola at Evanston (6:00pm) - The Ramblers and Wildcats meet just a week after Loyola returned from Florida and just days before Evanston heads to the Sunshine state.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Bremen at McAuley (4:30pm) - Things could get interesting on the South Side when McAuley plays host to Bremen on Thursday.
