MONDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Hinsdale Central 15 York 14

The Red Devils' edged York 15-14 to claim a third-seed at the upcoming West Suburban Conference Tournament later this week. Marc Krolikiewicz led the Dukes with 7 scores in the loss, as York will start the tournament as the fourth-seed on Thursday.

 

Loyola 12 New Trier 11

Charlie Dowdle registered 5 goals to help Loyola edge rival New Trier 12-11 in Winnetka on Monday evening. The Ramblers trailed 9-7 in the second half, but a 5-1 run in the game's final ten minutes helped give them a 12-10 lead and they hung on for a one-goal decision over the Trevians. James Bartels scored 4 times, Konrad VonMoltke added 3 scores, and Sam Buchman made 10 saves and 6 steals in one half of play in the losing effort.

 

Sandburg 14 Lincoln-Way Central 13 (2 OT)

Eric Neimeier's goal in sudden-death overtime helped the Eagles avenge an earlier loss to the Knights on Monday night in a SWSC thriller in Orland Park. Neimeier also led Sandburg with 6 goals in the victory.

 

St Viator 13 Conant 11

Eric Primdahl tallied 7 goals to lead the Lions to a 13-11 win over Conant in nonconference play on Monday night. Robert Bansfield also made 12 saves in the victory for St Viator.

 

Stagg 16 Lincoln-Way West 4

Zach Golob recorded 5 goals to lead the  Chargers to a 16-4 victory over Lincoln-Way West.


GIRLS

Fremd 13 Mother McAuley 5

Erika Lauraitis scored 6 times and Kristina D'Andrea added 3 goals as Fremd defeated Mother McAuley 13-5 in Palatine on Monday. Julie Conrath also registered 16 saves in the win for the Vikings. Katie Moran and Yuri Chavez both tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Macs.

 

Lincoln-Way North 10 Bradley 7

Jenna Tasic recorded 4 scores and Jess Berringer stopped 11 shots as the Phoenix topped Bradley 10-7.

 

Lincoln-Way West 11 Stagg 3

Allison Rocha tallied 5 goals and Lauren Majewski and Sara Carse each added 2 scores in the Knights' 11-3 victory over Stagg on Monday. Becca Beeson also totaled 15 saves in the win for the Warriors.

 

Mundelein 15 Glenbrook South 3

Alexis Jones scored 8 times and Evelyn Kurzac added 3 scores to help lift Mundelein to a 15-3 triumph over Glenbrook South. Amy Klink also scored 2 goals and Emily Tylka made 9 saves in the win. Michelle Durkin totaled 2 scores in the loss for the Titans.

 

Sandburg 8 Lincoln-Way Central 6

Kathy Asztalos scored 3 times to lead the Eagles to an 8-6 victory over Lincoln-Way Central on Monday.

 

Young 5 Latin 4 (OT)

Yadi Casimiro recorded the game-winning goal midway through the second overtime period to send the Dolphins past Latin 5-4 in a preview of a potential sectional matchup between the second and third seeds at the UIC Sectional in less than two weeks. Gabi Cabrera scored 2 times on penalty shots in the win, but it was Casimiro's extra-time goal that proved to the difference in Young's dramatic win. Emily Asai and Tiare Esquivel also registered goals for the Dolphins on Monday night.

MATCH OF THE DAY

#11 Loyola at #15 New Trier

The Ramblers and Trevians resume their rivalry on Monday night in Winnetka at 6:00pm. Loyola won the first meeting between the teams 14-8, as TJ Considine scored 5 goals and Charlie Dowdle scored 3 times in the home win. Can New Trier turn things around on Monday night and send a message to the rest of the teams in the GBS Sectional, or will Loyola earn their second win over NT in 2010?

#7 Mother McAuley at #5 Fremd

Mother McAuley and Fremd meet up for one more test before the postseason begins; both teams are coming off solid wins over Naperville Central in Week 7, and the winner of this contest should go into their respective conference tournament/championships with a lot of momentum.
