THURSDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Fremd 16 Hoffman 8

Dustin Anderson recorded 9 goals to lead Fremd past Hoffman 16-8 on Thursday. Sang M Han scored 3 times in the Hawks' loss.

 

Glenbrook South 16 Deer Park 4

Igor Gryniv scored 7 goals and Kevin Roenitz added 3 scores in Glenbrook South's 16-4 win over Deer Park. Tom Meyer stopped 21 shots in the Titans' victory.

 

Hersey 11 Prospect 8 (OT)

Steve Petro scored 7 goals as Hersey put together a huge run in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime and then outscored Prospect 3-0 in the extra session to earn an 11-8 win over Prospect in a closely-contested MSL East contest. Matt Forssander tallied 5 goals in the loss for the Knights.

 

Lincoln-Way East 11 Lincoln-Way Central 8

Pat Murphy scored 3 goals to help lift LWE past LWC 11-8 on Thursday night.

 

Naperville Central 15 Neuqua Valley 9

Kyle Rickert recorded 6 goals as Naperville Central used a 7-1 second quarter run to get past Neuqua Valley 15-9. Pat Stablein also made 12 saves in the Redhawks' win. AJ Quebbeman scored 4 times and Eric Stahl stopped 12 shots in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

New Trier 13 Niles West 2

Jordan Palmer registered 4 goals and Konrad VonMoltke added 3 scores as New Tried downed Niles West 13-2.

 

Palatine 11 Conant 5

Kamil Mulawa totaled 5 goals and Justin Behrens put in 3 scores as Palatine knocked off Conant 11-5. Dylan Wiessman added 2 scores and Dan Sommerfield blocked 8 shots in the Pirates' win. Brandon Chic tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Cougars.

 

Schaumburg 13 Barrington 7

Mike Gergen recorded 5 goals and Randy Carr added 4 scores in Schaumburg's 13-7 victory over Barrington. Alex Fricke and Max Gagen both scored 2 times in the loss for the Broncos.

 

St Charles East 26 Maine West 6

Stephen Mason scored 9 goals and Shaun Sueschek added 7 scores as STC East beat Maine West 26-6 in nonconference play.

 

Wheeling 8 Buffalo Grove 5

The Wildcats pulled ahead of the Bison by two games with just three to play in the MSL East title race after earning an 8-5 victory on Thursday night.


GIRLS

Conant 13 Palatine 7

Jessica Southern scored 5 goals and Lucie Banahan recorded 17 saves as Conant used a 7-2 second half run to pull away from Palatine to earn a 13-7 win.

 

Fremd 12 Hoffman 2

Emily Orlowski, Emma Nelson, Sam del Prado, and Sam Matuszewski each scored 2 times as Fremd stayed undefeated in the MSL West with a 12-2 win over Hoffman. Julie Conrath recorded 13 saves in the win for the Vikings, who improved to 7-0 in the division and 14-0 in 2011. Stephanie Castro and Vishwa Shah tallied one score apiece in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Lincoln-Way East 14 Lincoln-Way Central 11

Tricia Paul made 9 saves as LWE outlasted LWC 14-11 on Thursday.

 

Lincoln-Way North 9 Lincoln-Way West 4

Cheyenne DeGraaf and Sam Klosak each tallied 3 scores in LWN's 9-4 victory over LWW.

 

Lane 7 Northside 5 (OT)

The Indians put together a 3-0 run in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime, then outscored the Mustangs 2-0 in the extra session to earn a hard-fought 7-5 win. Kelly Buchanan scored 2 times in the loss for Northside.

 

Meadows 11 Elk Grove 10 (OT)

Emily Lebuhn scored 6 goals to lead Meadows to an 11-10 overtime win over Elk Grove. Jessica Dykstra added 2 scores in the win for the Mustangs. Jordan Crocker led the Grenadiers with 2 goals in the losing effort.

 

Prospect 8 Hersey 6

Meg Dix scored 4 times and Lisa Mazur added 3 goals to lead Prospect to an 8-6 victory over Hersey. Christine Rovani put in 4 goals in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Naperville Central 18 Neuqua Valley 2

The Redhawks improved to 16-0 after beating Neuqua Valley 18-2 on Thursday night. Emily Sejna scored 7 goals and Abbey Kerth scored 6 times for Central, while goalie Julia Campbell made 11 saves and allowed just 2 goals in the victory. Rachel Lehman and Tricia Bannister each scored one time in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Naperville North 13 Metea Valley 11

Megan Nerud and Sofi Prorok each totaled 4 goals and Olivia Landiak chipped in with 2 scores in Naperville North's 13-11 win over Metea Valley. Lizzie Hollopeter tallied 6 goals and Mia Palladino added 3 scores in the losing effort for Metea.

 

Schaumburg 10 Barrington 2

Kristy Bessler recorded 6 goals to lift Schaumburg to a 10-2 victory over Barrington in an MSL West contest.

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Sandburg at Lockport (5:00pm) - The Eagles will face a difficult task if they wish to stay perfect in the SWSC when they travel to Lockport to take on the Porters.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Wheeling at Buffalo Grove (4:30pm) - The battle for the Mid-Suburban League East title heats up as Wheeling (6-0) tries to extend their one game lead over Buffalo Grove (5-1) while the Bison look to even things up,


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Neuqua Valley at Naperville Central (6:00pm) - The Wildcats will look to spring an upset over Naperville Central on Thursday, just one day before the Redhawks head to the Jenison Tournament in Michigan.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

LWE at LWC (5:00pm) - East and Central resume their rivalry on Thursday, with both teams looking to avoid their second SouthWest Suburban Conference loss in 2011.
