WEDNESDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Homewood-Flossmoor 7 Sandburg 4

Shay Banton recorded 5 goals to lead H-F past Sandburg 7-4 and give the Vikings sole possession of first place in the SouthWest Suburban Conference's Blue division. Caleb Peterson and Luke Dobben each added goals in the win for H-F. Balys Gintautas put in 2 goals and both Erik Niemeier and Matt Veldman scored once in the losing effort for the Eagles.

 

McHenry 19 Barrington 5

Drew Schmitt and Dylan Clohessy each scored 4 goals and Andrew Hertel added 3 scores as McHenry rolled to a 19-5 victory over Barrington on Wednesday. Alex Fricke scored 3 times in the losing effort for the Broncos.

 

Palatine 19 Fremd 8

Kamil Mulawa scored 8 times and Dylan Weissman and Justin Behrens each tallied 4 scores as Palatine moved to within one win of a perfect season in the MSL West after a 19-8 victory over Fremd on Wednesday. Dan Sommerfield made 16 saves in the win for the Pirates. Andre Degla and JP French each scored 2 goals in the loss for the Vikings.

 

St Ignatius 15 Lincoln-Way Central 6

Paul Bouschlicher totaled 4 goals and Brayden Amendola added 3 scores as St Ignatius defeated LWC 15-6 in nonconference play on Wednesday.

 

Stagg 18 Bradley 13

Juan Valdez and Zach Golob both tallied 5 goals as Stagg knocked off Bradley 18-13 on Wednesday.


GIRLS

Andrew 9 Lincoln-Way West 4

Kelly Baumgartner scored 3 times and Megan Hofer added 2 scores in Andrew's 9-4 victory over LWW. Jordan Bartolini and Marge Joyce combined to make 10 saves in the T-Bolts' win. Emily Gallagher tallied 2 scores in the losing effort for the Phoenix.

 

Bradley 9 Stagg 7

Beth Zhe totaled 6 goals to lead Bradley to a 9-7 triumph over Stagg in a SWSC Red contest. Liz Hadhazy scored 6 times in the loss for the Chargers.

 

Conant 19 Maine South 8

Kristi Burke scored 5 goals and Jessica Southern added 4 scores as Conant defeated Maine South 19-8. Katie Varga also recorded 3 scores and Lucie Banahan made 11 saves in the Cougars' win.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 11 Sandburg 6

Michelle Mayer totaled 7 goals to lead H-F to an 11-6 victory over Sandburg as the Vikings improved to 8-0 in the SWSC. Rebecca Mathews also scored 4 times in the win for the state's #3 team. Catherine White scored 2 goals in the loss for the Eagles.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Lockport 8

Danijela Jackovich totaled 6 goals and 11 steals and both Ashley Knight and Jamie Graf scored 2 times as LWC held off Lockport 11-8 on Wednesday.

 

Marian 6 Waubonsie 4

Marian earned a huge win over Waubonsie Valley on Wednesday as Amy Martello and Paige Wieser each scored 2 goals and Devin Green stopped 16 shots in the Spartans' 6-4 victory.

 

Neuqua Valley 8 Oak Park 6

Tricia Bannister scored 4 goals and Rachel Lehman added 2 scores in Neuqua Valley's 8-6 victory over Oak Park. Courtney Taylor and Sarah Nock each added one score in the win for the Wildcats. Kimmy Stefanik scored 3 times in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Prospect 11 Wheeling 6

Lisa Mazur scored 5 goals and both Jessica Cavaiani and Meg Dix added 3 scores as Prospect built a 7-1 halftime lead en route to an 11-6 win over Wheeling. The Knights clinched the MSL East regular season title, improving to 9-0 in the conference and 15-0 in 2011.

 

St Viator 11 Glenbrook South 2

Margaret Stefanowski recorded 3 goals and Alli Lardner, Eileen Mallof, and Melanie Battaglia each scored 2 goals as St Viator beat GBS 11-2.

 

Stevenson 15 York 7

Cheyenne Montijo scored 5 goals and Erin McCook and Karen Lowry each scored 3 times as Stevenson went on the road and beat York 15-7 on Wednesday evening. Claire Moschovas added 2 goals and Lisa Michalowski made 12 saves in the Patriots' winning effort. Jaime Redmond scored 3 times in the loss for the Dukes.

 

WEDNESDAY'S GAME PREVIEWS        

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Sandburg at H-F (5:00pm) - Something has to give when the two undefeated SWSC Blue teams meet for the first time in 2011.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

St Ignatius at LWC (5:00pm) - The Wolfpack head to New Lenox for a tough away fixture against the upset-minded Knights.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

H-F at Sandburg (5:00pm) - The Vikings and Eagles get together for the first of two late season clashes in the SWSC Blue; H-F can take a two game lead in the conference with a win, while Sandburg can even things up in the loss column with a win of their own.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Prospect at Wheeling (6:00pm) - Wheeling will look to prevent their rivals from clinching the MSL East title on Wednesday when the two squads meet for the second time this season. Prospect won the first meeting 5-3 when the teams met in March.
