MONDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Glenbrook South 9 St Patrick 8

Igor Gryniv scored 4 goals, JJ Connor added 3 scores, and Tom Meyer blocked 10 shots as GBS edged St Patrick 9-8 on Monday. John Gutierrez led the Shamrocks with 4 goals in the losing effort.

 

Lyons 14 Naperville North 6

David Sekula recorded 7 goals to lead Lyons to a 14-6 victory over Naperville North.

 

Morgan Park 17 Payton 9

Richard Leigh totaled 10 goals to lead Morgan Park to a 17-9 victory over Payton. Joseph Spadoro scored 7 times in the loss for the Grizzlies.

 

Mundelein 10 Fremd 3

Frank Lukacs and Will Davidson each scored 3 times and Connor Black put in 2 goals as Mundelein knocked off Fremd 10-3. Jakub Sierzputowski also made 12 saves in the Mustangs' win. Dustin Anderson scored 2 goals and Max Plichta stopped 15 shots in the loss for the Vikings.

 

St Ignatius 10 Stevenson 8

Mark Alvarado recorded 6 goals to lead St Ignatius to a 10-8 nonconference win over Stevenson on Monday evening. The Wolfpack put together a 3-0 run in the final quarter to break a 7-7 tie, then held the Patriots to just one late goal to earn the win. Robbie O'Brien made 18 saves and Alex Shkiler and Zach Goldman scored 2 times in the losing effort for SHS.


GIRLS

Conant 8 St Charles North 7

Andie Cobb scored 2 goals to help lift Conant to an 8-7 victory over STC North. Claire Bultema registered 6 goals in the loss for the North Stars.

 

Lake Forest 15 Meadows 5

Emily Nowlin totaled 7 goals and 4 assists as Lake Forest defeated Meadows 15-5 on Monday. Norie Kaufmann added 3 scores and Margot Meyer stopped 13 shots in the win for the Scouts.

 

Morgan Park 10 Payton 8

Gracie Wenner and Jelena Bates each scored 4 goals as Morgan Park topped Payton 10-8 on Monday. Vanessa Marsden scored 4 times in the loss for the Grizzlies.

 

Mundelein 7 Fremd 5

Alexis Jones scored 5 goals, including 3 straight scores in the fourth quarter, as Mundelein earned a 7-5 victory over Fremd. The Mustangs trailed 5-4 in the second half, tied the game early in the fourth period, then scored two goals in the final minute to earn the win over the Vikings. Alyssa Garcia and Amanda Boothe each added one score apiece for Mundelein in the winning effort. Sam Matuszewski scored 2 goals and Emily Orlowski, Lauren Zambelli, and Megan Kennedy each added one score in the loss for Fremd.

 

Neuqua Valley 15 York 4

Sarah Nock tallied 6 goals as Neuqua Valley downed York 15-4 in nonconference action on Monday.

 

Oak Park 7 Hinsdale Central 3

Allison Coogan recorded 3 goals and 7 steals and Kimmy Stefanik scored 2 times in Oak Park's 7-3 victory over Hinsdale Central on Monday night. Zoe Erickson made 13 saves and Jessie Conti and Katie Appell each added one score in the Huskies' win.

 

St Viator 11 Marian 8

Melanie Battaglia scored 4 goals and Eileen Mallof added 3 scores as St Viator beat Marian in Catholic League play on Monday. Amy Martello scored 3 times in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Stevenson 7 St Ignatius 5

Cheyenne Montijo scored 4 goals and Karen Lowry added 2 scores as Stevenson jumped out to a 5-1 halftime lead and held off a late rally to beat St Ignatius 7-5. Sam Petti added a goal and Lisa Michalowski made 14 saves in the Patriots' win.  Rebecca Martinez scored 2 goals and Kate Murphy made 6 saves in the loss for the Wolfpack.

 

Vernon Hills 13 Hoffman 3

Dana Andrea tallied 6 goals and Anna Lebiedzinski put in 5 scores as Vernon Hills defeated Hoffman 13-3. Gena Lopez made 10 saves and Ellie Silver totaled 5 assists and 7 steals in the Cougars' win.

 

MONDAY'S GAME PREVIEWS        

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Naperville North at Lyons (6:00pm) - The Huskies have caught fire in recent weeks, earning wins over the likes of Mundelein and New Trier, among others. Their task will be an even tougher one when they head to LaGrange to take on #2 Lyons on Monday.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Curie at Young (5:30pm) - The Condors will have to get past Young if they hope to stay perfect in the Chicago Public League for the third straight season.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

St Ignatius at Stevenson (5:00pm) - The Wolfpack will be seeking another tough road win when they head to Lincolnshire to take on the red-hot Patriots, who beat Fremd, McAuley, and Young at their own tournament on Saturday.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Mundelein at Fremd (5:00pm) - The Mustangs go on the road to battle a Fremd team looking to bounce back after suffering their first two losses of the season on Saturday.
