THURSDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Bremen 9 Bradley 7

Dan Minnich scored 4 goals to lead Bremen to a 9-7 victory over Bradley.

 

McHenry 12 Glenbrook South 2

Dylan Clohessy, Jordan Kuchenmeister, and Tim Briscoe each recorded 3 goals and Kyle Braun scored 2 times as McHenry ended their regular season with a 12-2 win over visiting GBS. Igor Gryniv and Will Porter each nicked a goal for the Titans in the second quarter in the losing effort.

 

Naperville Central 9 Homewood-Flossmoor 4

Kyle Rickert scored 6 goals and Pat Stablein made 10 saves to help Naperville Central upend Homewood-Flossmoor 9-4. Luke Dobben scored 2 times and Jacob Bodnar made 8 saves in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Sandburg 17 Lockport 6

Matt Veldman scored 4 goals and both Balys Gintautas and Cody Corridino notched 3 scores as Sandburg beat Lockport 17-6. Tony Rogina also made 14 saves in the Eagles' win.

 

Schaumburg 15 Metea Valley 10

Mike Gergen tallied 4 scores and George Bach recorded 7 saves to lead Schaumburg to a 15-10 victory over Metea Valley. Zach McClernon registered 5 goals in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

St Rita 12 Morton 11

Neil Ehmig scored the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter as St Rita edged Morton 12-11 on Thursday. Ehmig scored 3 times and Mike Hernandez put in 4 scores in the win for the Mustangs.

 

Stagg 18 Andrew 9

Zach Golob scored 6 goals and Drew Stoffel added 4 scores as Stagg wrapped up the SWSC Blue regular season title with an 18-9 win over Andrew.

 

St Charles North 18 St Charles East 13 (OT)

Justin Jacobson recorded 8 goals to lead STC North to an 18-13 overtime win over rivals STC East on Thursday. Kyle Passini added 3 goals in the win for the North Stars, who outscored the Saints 7-2 in the extra session.

 

Stevenson 8 Lake Forest 6 (OT)

Alex Shkiler and Hasan Khan each recorded overtime goals as Stevenson outlasted Lake Forest 8-6 in extra time on Thursday night. Mitchell Sokolsky scored 3 times in the win, while Robbie O'Brien saved 15 shots and did not allow an overtime goal for the Patriots.

 

Taft 17 Kennedy 5

Jaime Riano recorded 7 goals to lead Taft to a 17-5 win over Kennedy on Friday in Chicago Public League action.


GIRLS

Andrew 19 Stagg 6

Allie Fisher, Kelly Baumgartner, and Leah McCarthy each scored 3 times to lead Andrew to a 19-6 win over Stagg. Liz Hadhazy put in 3 scores in the loss for the Chargers.

 

Bremen 16 Latin 4

Emma Martinus tallied 7 scores and Nora Plank and Hannah Schultz both recorded 4 goals in Bremen's 16-4 victory over Latin.

 

Hersey 11 York 6

Christine Rovani scored 5 goals and Maura Kelly put in 4 scores in Hersey's 11-6 nonconference win over York.

 

Lincoln-Way East 16 Lincoln-Way Central 4

Emily Koss recorded 5 goals and Zoe McCabe scored 4 times to help lead LWE past LWC 16-4 on Thursday evening.

 

Lincoln-Way North 5 Lincoln-Way West 4

Jenna Tasic tallied 3 goals in LWN's 5-4 victory over LWW. Allison Rocha scored 2 times in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Metea Valley 8 Schaumburg 5

Lizzie Hollopeter scored 6 goals and Mia Palladino added 2 scores as Metea Valley improved to .500 with an 8-5 win over visiting Schaumburg on Thursday.

 

Mundelein 13 Barrington 4

Alexis Jones scored 5 goals and Hannah Kalish and Sarah Honda both added 2 scores as Mundelein defeated Barrington 13-4 in a nonconference affair on Thursday. Emily Tylka also made 15 saves in the win for the Mustangs. Hannah Cliff, Kate Luedtke, Laura Danhauer, and Rachael Scardino each scored one goal in the losing effort for the Fillies.

 

Naperville Central 7 Fremd 1

Abbey Kerth scored 4 times and Julia Campbell made 13 saves and allowed only one goal as Naperville Central beat Fremd 7-1. Emily Sejna also scored 2 goals in the Redhawks' win. Megan Kennedy scored the lone goal for the Vikings.

 

Prospect 13 Buffalo Grove 4

Meg Dix scored 7 times to help Prospect beat Buffalo Grove 13-4 as the Knights finished the MSL East regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. Lisa Mazur and Tori Shields each added 2 scores in the win for Prospect.

 

Richards 19 Maine East 4

Lisa Gorski scored 9 times and Sam Craig added 5 scores as Richards topped Maine East 19-4. Lauren Gorski made 10 saves in the Bulldogs' win.

 

Sandburg 9 Lockport 8 (OT)

Jamie Pappanastos drew 12 ejections to help Sandburg survive an 9-8 overtime thriller over Lockport.

 

Stevenson 12 Lake Forest 3

Cheyenne Montijo recorded 5 goals to help lift Stevenson past Lake Forest 12-3 on Thursday. Karen Lowry added 2 scores and Lisa Michalowski made 11 saves in the Patriots' win.

 

THURSDAY'S GAME PREVIEWS        

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Naperville Central at H-F (5:00pm) - The top seeds at the Neuqua and LWN sectionals square off on Thursday night when #3 NC travels to #4 H-F on Thursday.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

GBS at McHenry (6:30pm) - The Warriors wrap their regular season up with a difficult home fixture against #18 Glenbrook South.

-AND-

STC East at STC North (6:00pm) - The heated local rivalry between the Saints and North Stars resumes on Wednesday; STC North won the first regular season meeting 12-7 back in Week 3.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Fremd at Naperville Central (6:00pm) - The Vikings head to Naperville for one more major test before next week's MSL title game. Their task will be tough, as the second-ranked Redhawks are perfect at home at seeking their 25th win in 2011.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Waubonsie Valley at Lyons (6:00pm) - EB Keeve and the Waubonsie Valley defense will be looking to put the clamps down on an LT team looking to bounce back from Tuesday's loss to Naperville North.
